  1. confused, do any of these`new models get the casio/bechstein action, or are these all using the slim actions?
  2. good price. get it anyway, if you don't get on with it or notice you don't need it you can sell it on without losing money. think of it as free rental.
  3. fascinating project and interesting video, but that beautiful cabinet is worthy of a much better keybed! and i was slightly disappointed expecting the guy to build an actual rhodes, not just an enclosure.
  4. you kidding? what real piano can you get for the price of a nord electro for example?
  5. I think the organ flutes model on Genos is different because it also handles simulations of theatre and home organs. Genos 2 had no updates in the organ/rotary department. the YC series got a brand new rotary sim in v2 of the firmware. This rotary was ported to Montage M. The tonewheel organ emulation on the YC is not available on any other model. Many Genos owners were hoping to see it ported on the G2, but no. The reface YC and CK share the same tonewheel organ and leslie sim.
  6. No, the leslie and hammond emulation is rather weak in most people's opinions, not inherited from reface, YC, CK afaik. you don't buy one of these for use as a clonewheel i'm afraid.
  7. (i'm almost afraid to tell you, but also been considering pair of behringer b208d / b210d, which seem to be very popular with rave reviews...)
  8. thanks for the advice, very interesting reading. TS series too many bells and whistles for my needs and also, TS much more expensive here in Sweden, twice the price of equivalent TX at $400 per speaker. This is nudging into the territory of the big boys, QSC, Mackie, JBL, Yamaha etc so I'd go for that instead. I think TX308 will be adequate at $200 each, now that you all helped me figure out the cables. Will only use additional mixer/preamp if absolutely necessary, want to keep it simple for home use, single keyboard into two speakers directly.
  9. that is good to know, thanks. am also considering paying twice as much for entry level QSC CP8. The higher end QSCs have a cooling fan I believe, which I wish to avoid for home use.
  10. thanks, for the info. the tx308 was the model I was considering, and yes, a pair. how they working out for you, any reason I should avoid? home use only, but with potential for small gigs in the future! not wanting to spend a fortune.
  11. thanks, DI box perhaps overkill, the speakers will be at the side of my keyboard stand! TR to XLR or TRS to XLR, does it matter?
  12. Considering an ALTO powered PA speaker, but it only has line input on XLR. How woud I directly connect a synth with 1(4" unbalanced outputs, what sort of cable is this, and any gotchas to be aware of? thanks
  13. good point Scott, yes. what I really meant then was why are top-of-the-line arrangers more expensive than synths. It's interesting to compare the priciest PSR-SX900 at $2800 with MODX at $1500. PSR has exact same screen, very similar keybed, same type of plastic construction, same level of quality. Why almost double the price? Edit - I see you can find the PSR for 2300, but even so... Is it because of the Styles? Or just because the people that tend to like arrangers, tend to be more wealthy and willing to spend more $$$ than a synth buyer? I can also see how the synth market is more competitive with more brands and options, whereas if you want an arranger, then it's either Korg or Yamaha really.
  14. i always wonder why arrangers are so expensive relative to synths. comparing flagships, Genos 2 is $5700 and Montage M7 is $4000. Genos has stuff that Montage doesn't and vice-versa but they seem to be "equivalent".
  15. Edited the forum thread title now that my NDA is expired!
  16. very strange, I think that diagram must be a mistake? why? because I was at the secret launch event last month and helped to tear down 23 Genos 2's (yes, count 'em) and didn't come across any external PSUs, just standard IEC mains connectors. or were they prototypes or something? check that diagram again, you can see the IEC connector in the photo.
  17. Surprised there hasn't been any mention of it on the forum... Here is the live stream for the event, starting in a few hours. See you in the chat!
  18. although focused on column stands, we do a comparison and review of the Roland KS12.
  19. that's interesting indeed. could be just a very good energy saving features, as a "software power-off" will still consume some power as the PSU is still working. But by flipping the switch like that, it's cutting off mains to the PSU. Probably some EU regulation!
  20. guy upload a video of himself performing a nice piece of music and all we talk about is the ipad clamp...? has it really come to this...?
  21. nice rig, i particularly enjoyed the playing, well done!
  22. i concur, that price is a fail for a sound module.
  23. any info on the touch screen tech?`same old plastic resistive type, or something more modern?
  24. such a shame about the lack of external manual. it would cost nothing to add support for it in the firmware, and would make it more viable to more players, even jazz organists. although you can comp one handed, or rip a solo on the 49, you can't play both hands bass and comp, at the same time. i guess you could midi up an external 61 keyboard and use it instead of the 49, but then it's a useless form factor and might as well have been a desktop sound module format.
  25. that's really steep, but not unsurprising. did we establish if you could connect external midi controller for lower manual?
