  1. I'm holding out for the Nautilus FURK with Faders, Upgraded-screen, Ribbon controller & Knobs
  2. thanks, yeah! although, it can be good to have the occasional mistake to encourage people to engage in the comments. or, I just lost count when I ran out of fingers!
  3. some thoughts from a nautilus owner, sorting out the facts from the rumours!
  4. if anyone has the time or desire to watch an old geezer rambling for 10 minutes....
  5. you turned the onboard speakers off?
  6. and, that concludes my CK review series!
  7. it's very nice yes, but if we're talking nord shells, mine is cooler and even more authentic!
  8. and now here's MLR played by Woody himself, taking some inspiration from the original recording.
  9. i'd say no, the latest models have the features many of us keyboard players desire, with the availability of plugins to add minimoog emulations, FM synths and the new Juno. if i were getting an MPC these new models would be most interesting, perhaps the one+.
  10. hi brad, thanks for helping me out with this, that's awesome!
  11. This is true, it's described in the manual actually. it really does make some of the piano models quite stunning to behold.
  12. Thank you. Somebody else mentioned that in the comments, I searched on the website and found nothing, so I don't believe it's true. New pianos might be bundled in firmware updates but no "library" that I could find.
  13. I have a video comparing Numa X to the CK series, if of interest. Hope you find it helpful.
  14. pretty excited about this, the new MPC ONE+ with this synth and some drum samples is all I need in a groovebox.
  15. so it can be done without punching extra holes! Paul shows us how to play MLR in a variety of styles. Transcription of the "Joplin played version" here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/13v-j0PeBXS0HfaxqTDfQmksplzwHwpqE/view
  16. some fascinating insights here, thank you! had not occurred to me that the rolls could be edited, but of course, it's possible they could punch extra holes after the performance. perhaps it was even possible to play it back and "overdub". i tried playing lhat left hand pickup Eb-F-Ab (all octaves) but I found it impossible to play accurately, even at slower tempos, and was baffled how Joplin could do it, and some of the other bass patterns. i saw a video about player pianos and apparanetly there are dynamics, recorded on a separate "channel", but this must be for all the notes being struck at the same time, not velocity per note. it must have controlled the opening of some valve to control the air pressure. the tech on these old player pianos is incredible. i'd love to hear any other "played by scott joplin" performances if you have them.
  17. Thought some might enjoy this, played by the great man himself. Captured and played back on piano roll. Fascinating to hear his rendition, quite unlike the normal version we are all used to hearing. I enjoyed his swing feel and the new orleans style ruffs and rolls in the left hand.
  18. so it's powered by an intel CPU just like a laptop, this thing has a fan?
  19. haha, it certainly does, and I wonder to myself, do pad-based beatmakers and loopers even care about that? i certainly don't.
  20. was thinking there might be some good deals over on ableton.com for the push2, but none that I could find. did notice the price for the 3 though, $2000 for the standalone and $1000 for the controller version. yikes! the 2 was always quite expensive, but not in that league.
  21. hopefully of some help if trying one out for the first time!
  22. i've got a comparison of the features and "feel" of both coming soon, so keep eye out for that.
  23. this one is dedicated to you @AUSSIEKEYS thanks for the help with the troubleshooting!
  24. nice, then that explains it, or at least explains why only some people notice. it doesn't make sense though that both the numa and ck would have that effect. First I recorded acoustic and electric on the CK, then did another recording on the Numa. Maybe something got screwed up in the video edit. I never monitor in mono so won't notice.
  25. you know what, I think the yamaha preset has some weird stereo widening going on. i got a hunch you were listening in mono...?
