    • I'm glad you mention VB3-1. Except for a problem or 2 it might be my 2nd favorite of all time. First problem,  is not iOS and likely won't ever be. Second, the distortion is after the wrong gainstage in the organ simulation so it's almost impossible to get the sweet spot without getting a crackle thing happening if you want Steppenwolf.  The leslie was far ahead of it's time and the feel is more organlike than the feel of b3x which is kind of synthlike. Vb3m is like a ultralite limited version of vb3-1 in sound. To me Vb3-2 is a distant cousin.
    • I doubt that Oberheim has a warehouse full of unsold OB-X8s.   I'd imagine they met their quota in selling the $5k models. Sales slowed down.   Now, they can afford to offer OB-X8s at a discount to entice buyers who may be sitting on the fence.   Of course, the Moog Muse effect could be a motivating factor as well.😎
    • I learned classical sitar from an Indian electrical engineering student. He had come from a respected musical family, and they were devasted when he decided to become an engineer. It was the opposite of the US..."Our musician son wants to be...(sob)...an engineer! Where did we go wrong?!?"
    • Music retail in general has taken a bit of a downturn the last few months.  There are a couple of reasons why I think this is the case.  One would be the unusual amount of gear that was sold during the COVID years.  Take a look at Reverb.com…more than a few owners appear to be trying to sell stuff currently.   Another factor may have been Sam Ash closing over 50 stores and liquidating their inventory.  Not that I’m saying that was a direct indicator in each sector, mind you - I believe it’s likely that some of the blowout pricing may have caused more than a few folks to spend gear dollars they may not have anticipated spending on all kinds of deals.   dB
    • No one is questioning your credentials or tastes, brother, folks here are the most down to earth when it comes to theory discussions. Maybe some sound samples of your discoveries would help. It's hard for others to engage or relate when pretty much all they have is "dude, dig this, 6th dim scale is the sh*t!"

    • Yes! And also big, good knobs on a large panel.       Well, in this case I'm almost sure there were problems with the video camera, because I noticed the issue while editing, much before uploading the video on YT. While I was shooting the video, I had set up the lights and the camera settings exactly like in previous videos, but the outcome was so bad that for the first time ever, I had to attempt corrections in the editing stage. It was only partially useful, and it added some artifacts to the image (you can notice that on my hands, for example). Btw, thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try.
    • I always reduce video to 1024x720 before uploading to YT.  It will still get compressed but not horribly grainy.
    • Nothing says "OLD SCHOOL" more than VU meters.
