    • The 14K+ presets scare me. 😛 Its taken several years to learn the various strengths of the instruments I have. I suspect they'd fall to one side as I made just the first pass through Omnisphere. The favorites utility would become meaningless after 1000. Its temptation overload. I've come close a few times, but chose to branch out instead. As one example, I have a healthy pile of AAS physical modeling patches, which continue to wow me. The fluidity is amazing.   If I took up Omnisphere, I'm afraid that it would turn into a crack habit. Right, like the GX-80 isn't enough of an OCD generator! 🤨
    • The topic of the video was/is bands that chart well today.  The data illustrates that bands have not been at the top of the charts for a long time.  So this leaves speculation as to why this has occurred.     It has been offered that listening preferences have changed away from styles that were and still are dominated by acts that are bands.  Data suggests this is true.     Another suggestion was that technology allows music to be created without the need for being a member of a band.  We all know this to be true.     Some other ideas about why this might be happening - like preferences of industry people not wanting the costs of working with bands, the drama of managing band relationships, sharing royalties.      That’s a brief synopsis.  There’s some other thoughts there, I forget.  But it doesn’t matter to me in the least that the topic is a Beato video.  But I do find it interesting that whatever the causes, the big players in the industry, topping plays/streams are not acts that are bands or marketed as bands.  Not even ones where they are all singers, or all rappers.  Curious observation.
    • I had a similar problem until I unplugged a USB hub that was connected to my laptop. The update then went OK. (I can’t remember whether I restarted the whole process, but I think I did.)
    • That’s what made the JD-800 so remarkable at the time, and what made the Korg Wavestation practically impossible … The JD-800 was the first digital synth I can recall (certainly the first Roland) that stored the tone data at the patch level. If you changed the tones within a patch, it didn’t affect other patches that used copies of that data. With the Wavestation, so much data was shared (and the edit buffers were s%#t) that any change big or small could screw up countless other patches/Performances. It was a nightmare …    Todd
    • I feel like the same thing happened with the D-70 (which was going to be a U-70, per the PCB markings). I jonesed for months when news of a new D-series synth surfaced, but it never lived up to the hype. It was really sloppy … Multi-samples that didn’t cover the full key range, etc. It had four sliders, a large LCD, a 76-key action, and it was the first Roland with ROM multisamples that could be filtered with resonance, but it could have been a lot more. I feel like it was rushed and never finished.   Todd
