  1. both players are FABULOUS! And they are pretty good on the piano as well… and have inspired me for decades… in any “art” there are people who excel at technical aspects and those who excel at expressive aspects. I’ve met many stone sculptors who could technically reproduce any shape but completely unable to sculpt any emotional expression if their life depended on it. My partner feels a similar divide exist with musician’s which we’ve played with… PEACE _ _ _
  2. @RABid at around the 13 minute mark, the operator hits really nice spot for me… although I'm not generally looking to eurorack modules, some really groovy gear is coming out! PEACE _ _ _
  3. Nicely done… Very retroactive! Always puts a smile on my face to see/hear a Korg KARMA being used, as on: In Perfect Peace Stephen’s creations before and especially with Karma-Lab seem like hidden gems, waiting to be “rediscovered”. PEACE _ _ _
  4. Generally, less is more… Polyphony being directly tied to cpu load, it makes perfect sense that a sweet spot has to be found. I often wonder if “we” have reached unlimited polyphony, given the cpu advances. I would love to see a company go back to installable “cards” which could off load cpu calculations. Much like a modern GPU, or similar to installing more memory in the Triton Rack for increased sampling size… We’ve been using computers disguised as musical instruments for decades now. Not so much needed while playing, but for our goals, polyphony is crucial in generating midi effects. The idea (fantasy) of creating a true midi reverb unit, might be closer than imagined. Not audio signal processing but actually midi signal processing. From a theoretical (dreamers) perspective a midi event created reverb effect would enable each “event” to be modulated as it “reflects”. A wave-sequencing reverb reflection would be super fun! 5. Interesting that the two version differ in the first couplet/verse rhyming scheme… French lyrics are: A B A B English lyrics are : A A B B The conjugation of certain words is so off that the rhyming breaks down. As in the second couplet/verse. Why is the word “secret” being replaced with “fear”? This completely changes the feeling from intimacy to interrogation! And in general yeah, the grammatical structure of the french lyrics is off putting. Not poetic or soft nor romantic intonations… ASININE, indeed! PEACE _ _ _
  6. Awesome prompt, had not even wondered what the LLM’S are doing with other languages. Asinine? Would love to see the french grammar which it spit out? Which translator did you use? soooo many questions ?!?! PEACE _ _ _
  7. The meta-awareness of forum posts never ceases to amaze… Shared individual perceptions ought not be mistaken for universal truths… Qualia, in my interpretation, is not a constant, nor a sensation which can be “wrong or right” as judged by others… Just keep making music!!! OH YEAH, a double blind fold is standard practice around here! 🫣 PEACE _ _ _
  8. Less is more… There is a direct connection being made in my “self” when playing and creating sounds directly with electricity thru analog circuitry which simply isn't there for me when using a digital computer. An abacus and or digital computer both provide a means to solve arithmetic, one is way faster and less prone to errors, the other tickles my intelligence and allows me the time to contemplate the journey rather than fixate on the destination. Being “wrong” is a powerful tool at getting closer to a particular sound or thought. Being slightly “out of tune” by having that slider or knob set ever so slightly, differently from last time brings a richness to the experiences. In contrast, pushing equal increments of single bits yield the same result no matter how slightly i nudge the knob on a digital synth the increment is never in-between 0 and 1… but hey, do I want a VCO to go horrible out of whack while playing, nope, hello DCO. And even that got poo poo’d on at the time… And Im all for people hating on vintage gear, makes them wonderfully affordable! 🤫 As the late great Dennett would say its the “qualia”… PEACE _ _ _
  9. And now for something completely different: @ProfD Vintage synths regardless of their decade are less about utility and more about something else… to each their own reasons. Like with classic cars or vintage computers; collecting for the sake of collecting is discouraging and greatly increases the “price” of gear. Especially in todays world of instant trends driving interest beyond inventory. But from a purely, adjusted monetary value perspective, a Juno6 today cost exactly the same as when purchased new in 81-82… go figure. That said: what the same 1k-3k amount of money buys me today is a full blown workstation. So the value and reason of buying a Juno or any piece of vintage gear now, is not comparable by this single utility variable. A gigging musician like a delivery driver, neither would not use a vintage synth nor classic car as a daily, but its nice to have in the garage and take out for a sweet ride… And each have their “trendy” decades which drive prices into utter stupid prices! PEACE _ _ _
  10. RB is unfortunately an algorithmically successful content creator. The content he pushes reeks of “gatekeeper” mentality which drove me away from sheet music and “whats the correct way”… ugh “But you too can be a real musician with 3 easy installment payments for my ear training course…”🤮 With so many available “channels” which actually explain subject matter without selling me further content, I tend to stay away from “opinion” based content pushed at me, which is otherwise fine for forums to ponder 😐 PEACE _ _ _
  11. Organissimo Forum link “A nice gentle bounce…” Hopefully NO ONE is kicking their pedals 🙃 PEACE _ _ _
  12. If one needs only PLAY a sound, rompler all the way… If one wants to CREATE a sound, synthesis, no other way ! As a classical pianist, I find the mono-tonality of the piano is what it is, beautiful and rich but static. Put a Juno6 under the hands of a 12 year old and watch what happens… And there is a distinction to be made between, analog and digital synthesis. Modeling and creating tonality with electrical currents is not the same as moving bits and bytes… praise be the… PEACE _ _ _
