era music
Two years ago I had a discussion with Terry Bozio. He had just given a extraordinary clinic. Realy great stuff. Afterwards I asked him what he sees/feels when he playing drums...He said nothing but the partitude (notes on paper)I was realy dissapointed..I mean...muscians should feel or see things when the play...just like reading a book...your read the words but see the storry (pictures) in your mind... What do you think about it..
D_dup3
Maybe he didn't fully disclose his thoughts when answering ...(?)...but in any case, music is a "language" of its own & carries enough emotional weight, for me, without any requirement of "painting pictures" or otherwise "portraying" itself. That doesn't mean that it never does (lots of "program music" is illustrative) or that I think anything's wrong if someone thinks differently, just that, to me, the feelings of music are largly beyond words.
