Tonysounds
Heres a pic of my current rig (still under refinement). Aussie_Chicago
....thanks, yes its a bit over the top, but sometimes bargains come along that I cant pass up, hence the collection. Do I really need all this "stuff" ? no, not really but its a lot of fun. B3 / 147 for $1700, wurli for $500 , 72 Rhodes for $300, 80 suitcase for $500 etc etc. Only boards I paid close to retail was the moxf8 and the sk2 ( not pictured ). Think they work well together. Did you sort out playing the sounds from the FA-06 from the Nordstrom keys? I tried it and my studio sets didn't sync up. vonnor
...Did you sort out playing the sounds from the FA-06 from the Nordstrom keys? I tried it and my studio sets didn't sync up. I de-couple the roland's studio-sets from the Nord. That is, I turned off Program Change message transmit for both units. I only send Note on/off, CC (pedals & switches), Mod, PB, Aftertouch. But I run everything via Cantabile on my Win8.1 tablet/convertible. I call up a song on CanTab, which sends Bank Select and Program Change messages to each keyboard, calling up the correct Studio-set on the Roland and program on the Nord for that song. I have LOCAL off for each unit as well. All note info then goes into CanTab which routes it by key-range to the instrument and the channel that has the right sound for that range of keys, whether it's the entire FA-06 keyboard or the first 17 keys at the bottom of the Nord, or any other combination. CanTab takes care of all that split/layer stuff. The NS2 and FA06 are basically multi-timbral tone modules at this point (16-part Roland, 6-part Nord). ~ vonnor Quote Gear: Hardware: Nord Stage3, Korg Kronos 2, Novation Summit Software: Cantabile 3, Halion Sonic 3 and assorted VST plug-ins. vonnor
I've been meaning to post my rig pix so I snapped a bunch while I put it all back together this evening after rehearsal yesterday. I start with a custom cut Ultimate Support Systems "Tinker-Toys" stand that holds my 4-space rack and the keyboards on top of that, with the Dell 2-in-1 notebook on top. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_01.jpg The rack has all the cables connected and the tail ends coil up and fit inside for transport. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_04.jpg An Ultimate Support tablet-holder sits on top of a rotatable tube arm above and to the right of the keyboards. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_03.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_02.jpg The Nord Stage 2 has 1.5" diameter flat rubber feet mounted on the bottom front in the exact position to fit inside the top-front tubes of the stand. They fit rather tight and it takes a little pop to de-mount it from the stand. It is rock-solid stable. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_05.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_06.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_07.jpg The pedalboard is a Pedaltrain3 with two Yamaha FC7's and 2 FC5's plus a stomp switch for the Nord leslie speed (for times when my left hand is busy). For the purists out there, the right side FC-7 is dedicated to Nord organ swell. The cables from the pedals run to a Radio Shack project box where a panel-mount AMP multi-pin connector is wired up. The snake multi-pin connector mates up with that and the tail ends run up to the jacks on the back of the keyboards. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_08.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_09.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m305/Koda_Vonnor/Misc/new_rig_10.jpg ... continued...
