  1. I think you can buy these now, right? Anyone have one?
  2. I think I read in the specs that the 147 section uses a transistor power amp, not tube. Is that how the vintage ones worked? I thought they had both tube preamp and power stages? I have a 3300 and it works great. However, I can notice the difference between it and a vintage leslie with a tube power amp stage.
  3. Yep, I was asking about the Heritage models with the tube power amp. Wow! That price is a little crazy. Thanks for the info.
  4. Can you buy one of these yet? Do they sound as good as a good vintage 122 or 145/147? if so, I think I want one.
  5. Never heard of him. He certainly looks the part.
  6. Only keyboard players seem to think like this. It's still called "playing". It's not like we are doing brain surgery or saving lives. But I guess folks need their sub-cultures and status. Personally, I highly respect anyone trying to learn to play an instrument...at any age or level. But then again, I don't lean on my keyboard playing for my identity. Certainly, the concepts being discussed in this thread can be grasped and appreciated by anyone, player or non-player, regardless of this "respect earned" you speak of. I have been trying to learn to play guitar these past several years. Thankfully, the guitar players I know don't require me to earn some level of respect before having an opinion or thought. That would really suck.
  7. Haha! That is pretty clever. I like that. Very creative.
  8. Ridiculous! From this thread it sounds like it has more to do with vanity than endorsements. Otherwise, there would not be so many comments about taping over Casio but not other brand names. It's a personality type wrapped in self justifications.
  9. I can't imagine seeing Eric Clapton put tape over the Fender or Gibson (or other) name on the headstock of his guitar. Keyboard players can be so silly, me thinks. Besides, the only people looking at the keyboard player are the other keyboard players.
  10. Roy Clark. He could play anything in any genre...and multiple instruments.
  11. I'm assuming the audio inputs are routed through the A2D-D2A (i.e., audio interface), maybe not...regardless, I can tell you are determined to make issue with my statement. It really does not matter since my original point is that it is convenient for a dual keyboard rig. My other keyboards do not have that feature. And now I will stop contributing to this forum for another year while you argue with someone else. Goodbye.
  12. Even without the computer (a 3rd instrument) you can send the stereo output of your second keyboard into the YC73 and then just have one stereo pair (or mono) out from YC73 to monitors. Greatly simplifies the extra cabling, DI, etc. from routing two keyboards to mixer, etc. The ability to add a software instrument via USB is just gravy.
  13. I can route the audio out from second keyboard into inputs on YC73 using short TS cables and a computer/software instrument via USB. Then, audio for all come from YC73 out to mains. This allows me to use fewer DI boxes (only need one) and more simple cable management, essentially eliminating the need for en external mixer.
  14. I have a YC73 and like it, but I use a NS3 compact for gigging. The YC73 has some cool features like the built-in audio interface that make it very useful as a main board in a two-board rig. If I did not have the Nord, I would use it for gigging. I just like the nord size/weight better. I also wish the YC-73 was not as thick. It feels slightly awkward due to that. The action is fine for most uses, but will not feel as good as a quality 88 key action found on some other high-end keyboards. Overall, I think it is a great keyboard and I hope Yamaha continues to give updates that make it even better over time.
  15. I set the output to mono on my Nord Stage 3 and use a single TS cable to Radial passive D2 DI box (left), then let house plug into XLR (left) output of DI box. If I have two keyboards then I use the right side of DI box for the seconds one. Or you can send stereo from D2, but make sure they pan one channel hard left and other hard right if you want it stereo at FOH.
  16. One of the best recordings with Joey, imho.
  17. I have enjoyed surfing YouTube videos today containing Joey playing organ with a wide variety of musicians. He sure connected musically with a lot of people. What a gift!
  18. Wanted to give this response two thumbs up. Spot on!
  19. Always appreciate your posts and insight @timwat. Thanks for sharing your experience and thoughts on this. It really resonates.
  20. I have tried to play in cover bands a couple times. I find that although I like the idea of it, I never actually enjoy it for more than a couple weeks. I think my discontent could be specific to being a keyboard player and I might enjoy it more if I played a different instrument or was a singer. It just gets too boring on keys. Covers are fun when there is room for some creativity in solos, etc. - making them your own, if you get what I am saying. However, I really enjoy playing in my 4 piece jazz/funk/blues band and I also have enjoyed playing in jam-bands and other bands that play a lot of original music. I have determined that I prefer a to have a musical conversation rather than sharing a script. A little uncertainty in knowing exactly how the song will develop each time you play keeps things fresh and interesting. I hope you find plenty of musical enjoyment in your next projects.
  21. I have a friend that uses one of these for gigging. He loves it. I just ordered one too.
  22. I believe Rush used the Moog Taurus bass pedal a lot too. Correct me if I am wrong on that. Genesis sure used it on early albums.
  23. That is a really interesting and clean setup. Are you using wireless IEM's? A Looks like a sweet rig for gigs!
  24. "The math associated with smoothly interpolating two sample waveforms is well understood..." That statement is a major oversimplification of the actual problem or application, imo. From experience, I know that doing this properly highly depends on the application (Audio, RF, Imagery, Lidar, etc...real-time, non real-time.). In the case of piano sampling and sounds for real-time performance, I can imagine this being very challenging to generalize. Although I have spent my career in digital signal processing, I'm also now more curious to the methods being used by different manufacturers. Had not thought about it prior to this thread.
  25. I have always liked the VV sound. I could certainly enjoy owning one of these. Some really nice examples shared here on Keyboard Forum. Maybe I need another midlife crisis keyboard
