7notemode
Thanks for the kind words leber_wurst,C.Bull, Bloodsample,CliffK. I don't play out much, so its nice to get positive feedback. I posted a couple of new tunes on YouTube, Dolphin Dance on acoustic piano, and Route 66 done on Roland 700SX using Jazz Scat, which is a hilarious patch done solo, IMO. LOL (Sorry) Download the mp3 here- http://www.piaknow.com/Pirates.mp3 Okay, that's killer! I'm always happy to hear someone nail it, but even moreso when its from "just" one or two synths. Solid proof that a single workstation CAN deliver the goods, even though none of us would argue that at least a LITTLE more gear is always desirable, heh. Very evocative and very well rendered. HPHuey
Some inspiring stuff on HERE, especially the piano works. That's one prime way to display chops. I did this within Cubasis VST on a lone Korg 01Wfd, over a nice Acid loop sent to me by a pal. I'm so in love with this synth, I'd marry it if it was legal in my state. http://www.beat-factory.net/hellpope/SAUCERDANCE.mp3 Quote I COMPLAINED BECAUSE I HAD NO FAIRLIGHT, UNTIL I MET A MAN WHO HAD NO THEREMIN. Tony Bennett
Ok, I'm sneaking one on here, don't tell my buddy, keep it secret, keep it safe. I set up a little myspace page for odds and ends. This is a ruff mix of a song going on the next cd. I'll re-do the little piano solo "chunky" part, not really my type of playing but I try. I just think the cool is song...or something like that. www.myspace.com/pianoforum

wjwilcox
More for you consideration. I'm helping my son with a computer game he's programming and this is the first piece of music I've composed and recorded for him. It's a bit dark and spooky, it uses an Alesis Ion for the wierd lead lines, a Roland JV1080 for the phase shifted pad and an Ensoniq SD1 for the rest. It's somewhat of a work in progress, but I'm having too much fun with digital recording to not subject you kind folks to my noodlings. Comments always welcome. Enjoy! Tony Bennett
Ok, here is something completely different from me. My buddy was messing around in c and f, I threw on this quirky little melody and away we went. It hasnt been properly EQD, mixed and all of that yet as we need to do vocals yet. Its sort of repetitive but if you stick it out there is some different stuff towards the end. The piano, organ, chimes, strings and trumpet are all done on the RD700SX. Not sure about the trumpet sound, but that can be tinkered with.suggestions? Ive got another new one too but it isnt popping up for some reason. www.myspace.com/pianoforum
wjwilcox
The link below brings you another original piece of mine titled "Red Sand Desert". The into is from an Alesis Ion, main pad is from a Roland JV1080 and everything else was sequenced in my Ensoniq SD1. Red Sand Desert Inspiration for the title came from this photo, taken south of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in July 1982: http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g199/alfadawg01/redsanddesert.jpg Comments always welcome. best wishes, Bill Quote www.wjwcreative.com www.linkedin.com/in/wjwilcox

Nice work. i didn't even notice your compliment, it had been so last since i had posted the last batch i stopped checking. Thank you so much for the encouragement. I actually listened to your tracks the other day, and while that is not particularly my favorite genre of music, it makes me want to quit trying to improv simple songs with my sax player and actually write out some charts and do some real work. Very inspiring and impressive work. -j

Hypnotuba
OK, here's some junky tunes FOR FREE from an album I recorded last year, using only Casio home keyboards from the 80s. Yes, that's been done many times before, but not this terribly. Prefixes From Outer Space (5.83 MB) A Lovely Day At Fleece Beach (3.91 MB) Springing (3.08 MB) Small Systems / Extension Mechanism (13.4 MB; this is actually 2 songs) Escape Via Interdimensional Gateway (8.96 MB) Check out the file sizes before you download, mainly if you're on dial-up. Right now, I don't remember exactly which Casios I used for a specific part, but it was some combination of MT-68, MT-400V, MT-70, DM-100 and RAP-1 (the Rapman!) I do know that "Springing" is entirely MT-400V. And for "Extension Mechanism" I used the sampling section of the DM-100 to record and playback samples of "Small Systems." This music is very dry, well, totally dry sounding, as there's no effects (except for some compression and a touch of EQ on the overall mix.) I wanted a fairly authentic Casio sound quality. Finally, there's no crazy cutting or pasting or level envelopes or anything, just live playing from the Casios. EXCEPT, I did make the Casio drumbeats into loops just to make it easier on me. There is, of course, a lot of layering of parts going on. Now, none of this makes the music any good -- it's still pretty weak -- but I just wanted to give a bit of background into my intentions for the music. Thanks for reading this! And maybe for listening, too! Hopefully no one gets bored to death from this post or the music!
