I didn't intend to leave that impression. As for the Lions, I agree they're talented, and I would be happy to see them finally win it all; but yeah, they do seem cursed. ProfD Posted September 3, 2023 Share Posted September 3, 2023 Commanders have new ownership. No more overpaid veterans. A chance to rebuild. I'm glad the Commanders are going with QB Sam Howell. I was happy with the OC Eric Bieniemy hire too. I think the Commanders offense will play better. Defense supposed to in the top 10. My only expectation is that the Commanders play competitively. If it's all in one, I can be a pain to skip around other stuff (or for people who don't want to talk about game day stuff too) and see the "leap frogging" effect going on. Most of the participants in this forum aren't interested in talking about sports, so it's good to keep the signal to noise ratio down for them by having one thread per professional sport. That's been the practice here for years. There's no rigid rule, but it's good not to veer too far from that tradition out of consideration for others. I missed this game. I frequently work late. Amazon Prime had Thursday Night football last year with Al Michaels but it did not start until the official games began. No. One thread is no big deal. One extra thread per week per sport, however, can start to wear out a welcome and open the door for even more threads; and of course it dilutes the purpose of the "Official" thread in the process. If we stop discussing the games in the main thread, there's a lot less to talk about. The games are the meat of any sport. Take that away from the main thread and you're just left with the bones. Perhaps @Dave Bryce can weigh in on this discussion. I'd be interested in his opinion. ProfD Posted September 8, 2023 Share Posted September 8, 2023 KC definitely missed TE Travis Kelce last night. It didn't help that Chiefs WR and RB couldn't catch a cold in the 2nd half. Too many dropped passes and a pick 6 gave the Lions a win. I did enjoy the Lions running game. They need to rely on their rushing attack more than QB Jared Goff's arm. Forget the numbers, which were pretty average, consider the envroment. One of the loudest stadiums in the NFL, he couldn't hear a thing and his teammates couldn't hear him. I don't recall any delay of game call, there was busted play and the timeout they had to waste and there were few if any false starts. I'm not saying he's in the same class as Mahomes, etc, but he's a damn good QB.
