  1. What reporters covering the Vikings think of that, and other rumors (trade away Justin Jefferson, somehow accumulate 4 first round picks and trade them all to the Pats for the #3 pick) https://www.startribune.com/the-three-most-absurd-vikings-rumblings-in-the-lead-up-to-the-nfl-draft/600361369/
  2. I just got a text from a buddy about the Justin Herbert trade rumor that was started by Antonio Brown. 🤣 So in Brown's world, the Vikings will trade "two first-round picks this season, left tackle Christian Darrisaw, and a future second-round pick" for Herbs. But... Chargers already have left tackle Rashawn Slater who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie. 🤔 Also, that is such a low price for Herbs, when you look at what the Browns gave up for Deshawn Watson, that it's practically an insult. Anyway, enjoy the spotlight Antonio Brown...
  3. This great bass channel was mentioned in the Keyboard forum but not here yet
  4. I used the Blackhole reverb the most when my primary job with the band was to make atmospheric sounds with heavily processed electric violin. I actually use the reverb (plate of course) in Line 6 HX Stomp/Helix Native more than the Eventide stuff these days. Nothing wrong with Eventide. It was just the result of replacing my pedalboard (Eventide H9, tuner pedal, overdrive pedal, etc.) with a single HX Stomp XL for playing with the band. One of the reasons was Matt Bell's preset pack for Helix/HX Stomp owners who happen to play electric violin. Much less weight to carry to rehearsals, shows, etc. I'm not that picky about reverb as long as it's a decent sounding plate. The more time I've put into music studies (rhythm, harmony, stealing melodic lines by ear, etc.) the less interest I've had in picking out the perfect reverb preset, or tone-chasing in general. Probably just a coincidence.
  5. Sweet color. Hopefully one of these gets into the hands of the next Paris Strother/Michael McDonald level songwriter/player talent.
  6. Once I settled on plate reverb as my favorite type, the endless scrolling through reverb presets pretty much came to an end. I also like the Black Hole reverb algorithm on Eventide H9, but I'm susceptible to getting lost in endless tweaking on that one so I don't use it that often these days.
  7. If by SD you mean San Diego, they have not had an NFL team since 2017 when the Chargers moved to Los Angeles.
  8. My DAW is Ableton Live. So far I've found the Wavetable and Drift synths (included in Live Suite) are the ones with MPE. I have not yet tried Meld, the newest MPE synth introduced in Ableton Live 12. I've used Push 3 as the MPE controller.
  9. First recent Doobie Brothers tune I've listened to in years. It has some characteristics typical of a Patrick Simmons composition - starts with folky vocals and guitar, but then surprises with unexpected changes in harmonic direction. Among the pleasant surprises are Mick Fleetwood guesting on drums, Mike McDonald's synth solo and a shot of Tom Johnston singing background vocals.
  10. Still stuck in the rabbit hole opened up by that durned Beato interview of Mr. McDonald. Led me to a 17-year old comedy show.
  11. Yes, I think this is a good move. Signing only one RB with previous experience in Romans' offense was a good. Signing a 2nd RB with similar experience is even better. This in addition to signing a proven run blocking TE.
  12. Another ex-Raven RB JK Dobbins signed by the Chargers, reuniting with fellow ex-Raven RB Gus Edwards and OC Greg Roman.
  13. I was reminded of Jam Origin Midi Guitar 2 when someone started a thread about Jam Origin's upcoming Midi Guitar 3. The most anticipated new feature coming with v3 is MPE support. There's other new goodies in there too. I don't plan to stop practicing on my digital piano but Midi Guitar 2 is indeed fun to play with.
  14. This guy did a whole tour playing synth parts using typical electric guitar(s) with Midi Guitar 2 software. Ok, not metal, but metal adjacent since all this prog rock stuff seems to have been taken over by metal folks 😉
  15. One of the reasons I bought the Prophet 5 desktop was that fateful visit to Chuck Levin's. All those nice analog polysynths in one room yet it was the P5 that kept calling me back. That particular sound/sonic signature simply outweighed any concerns about mono vs. stereo output, how many LFOs, modulation routings, etc.... for me personally. I do get though why others opt for a synth with a greater range of options for sound design. The other synth that called me back yet was not analog was the Hydrasynth Deluxe. The little sibling Hydrasynth Explorer represented less of a commitment in space and cost so I ended up getting the Explorer. It has sound design capabilities up the yin yang, as my late grand uncle would say. So it ain't no Prophet 5, but that's fine coz I got the real thing now, and it can do all kinds of sounds the P5 can't. Despite the announcements of OB-X8, Trigon, etc. I'm very much GAS free when it comes to polysynths now. I have other units that do good enough VA tones to my ear - MC-707, Opsix, the synths included with Push 3, etc.. Kind of like guitars - I thought i'd save money for one custom built do-it-all guitar, but instead I ended up with my little collection of guitars, each of which has its own sound and playing experience, and it turns out I like it that way.
  16. Since Juno X was mentioned, I'll mention I got an email from Sweetwater saying its currently $200 off. 3 other Roland synths are also currently discounted at multiple stores.
  17. When Beck chose to release the Song Reader album as sheet music instead of on the usual media, it was a reminder of a time before the phonograph was invented - if people wanted to enjoy the latest "hit music" of their day, they had to buy the sheet music for it and play it themselves on their own pianos. That's what Craig's post made me think of.
  18. Fair question, and it comes up a lot. MPC One is the very first thing he chooses to do a comparison in this video. MPC One likes being the MIDI master and not so much being the MIDI slave. SP-404 Mk2 reportedly plays more nicely as a MIDI slave, which is great for those who want to hook up MIDI controllers to avoid menu diving while adjusting FX parameters. I say reportedly because I don't have an SP myslef.
  19. Haha, i just had the same experience at a local GC. I wanted to audition a Roland RD-08, but there was no AC adapter. I asked a GC employee and he claimed there were no more adapters because people steal them. So I committed (temporary) thievery of my own and grabbed a power supply from a Roland FP-30X, making sure to return it after I was done with the RD-08.
  20. One of the YT comments says the Steely Dan vid is from an HBO show called Taxicab Confessions. There were apparently 3 real-life cab drivers who doubled as hosts in this reality show, and only one of them was a woman - Rita Scott. Makes sense to me that the producers of Taxicab Confessions would take hours of taxicab conversation video footage and edit them down to the length of an episode - 20-30 min. or whatever.
  21. Chargers brought back Dicker The Kicker.
