HammondDave
Great game! For fans who think the holding call should not have been made… It was HOLDING. If you don’t call it then, when do you call it? Refs should not change the way they make calls just because its the end of the game. Don’t blame the refs, blame the player who committed the foul. He was honest and admitted he committed the penalty. And what happed to the Eagles vaunted defense? Andy Reid made them look confused. Two identical touchdown passes to wide open receivers. Zero sacks. The Chiefs scored on every possession in the second half. Jaylen Hurts played good enough to win most any game... Except against a team and a championship QB from Kansas City. Hurts is young and will probably have many more chances. But remember Dan Marino? He lost his first (and only) Super Bowl. He thought he would be back many times. He never returned. I hope that Hurts does. HammondDave
Regarding the halftime show (my profession), I was surprised at the pretty vulgar choreography from Rhianna. Nothing like being tastelessly explicit. I am far from being a prude, but that ruined a pretty good performance and a great production design. People can watch porn if they want to sew that. Bill H.
I wasn't offended. Guy singers have been grabbing their crotches onstage since James Brown and Mick Jagger - not to mention Michael Jackson. For Rihanna I thought it was a pretty restrained performance. She's had so many hits she could have done anything, but she withheld potentially controversial tracks like S&M or Love On The Brain. The lady is worth a cool 1.7b dollars - by far the richest female performer in the world. I'm amazed she did the halftime show at all. GovernorSilver
No coaching staff is better than the Chiefs' at adjusting at halftime to opponent tactics. Andy Reid/Eric Bienemy figured out what the defense was doing, made the adjustments, and came up with 2nd half plays that surprised the defense again and again. I was surprised the Eagles called 3 pass plays in a row, when they were so dominant on the ground against the Chiefs D. That led to a quick 3 and out.

bill5
Props to the Chiefs and glad it was a close game. Unfortunately, what I feared would happened did, the media is wetting themselves as they gush about Mahomes like he carried the team on his back and after a few short years is already one of the best ever, both which are a joke. He had a good game but nothing amazing; it was a total team effort. The run game was effective when it needed to be and the defense really came on in the second half. The longest kick return in SB history to give them a short field and a WR so wide open for the TD that Stephen Hawking could've made the throw didn't hurt either. It also didn't hurt that Hurts (sorry) gave them a free TD and can't throw a long ball to save his life, but I was quite surprised that for the most part, the Eagles' great WRs in Smith and Brown were held in check. Again a total team effort by the Chiefs. OK. Is it draft day yet?
ProfD
The NFL would be gushing over whichever QB won the Super Bowl. The winning head coach is getting a lot of press too. The talking heads need stories. We live in a world where losers get participation trophies. As a result, some folks are quick to anoint anyone who wins as a potential GOAT. It doesn't take a great body of work. I chalk it up to the blessing and curse of living in a 24/7/365 media cycle. If we don't shut it off, we can be subjected to an infinite loop until the next thing comes along. The NFL draft will be here in 2 months. Before that, the news will consist of players and coaches changing teams. Thankfully, the Commanders will be moving on from QB Carson Wentz. I just hope we hire a better offensive coordinator. 😎 Quote PD "The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love and be loved in return."--E. GovernorSilver
The last time I can remember the media completely downplaying anything the winning QB did after a Super Bowl was the Ravens-Niners "Harbowl". As far as the media was concerned, Joe Flacco was the luckiest QB alive. He was merely the beneficiary of a great defense, great RB, great WRs... he was just a piece of chopped liver who had to flick the ball once in a while to earn his ring. But he got hot at the right time. Plus the media darling then was Ray Lewis. So what if he was an accomplice to murder? Just win baby. PS I could be wrong but I don't recall them gushing all that much about Stafford last year, and he's been one of the best QBs in the NFL (mostly playing for pathetic Lion teams) for way, way longer than Mahomes. But try suggesting those two be mentioned as comparable overall and people will laugh you out of the room.

You've been arguing on this point all year - no Superbowl for you if your team doesn't have a star QB. Guess what? Stars get coverage. Doesn't matter if all he did was relax with a newspaper in his hand all day because his OL was so good, then finally toss the ball to a receiver out of boredom. Goes with the territory! Sure and I'm fine with coverage....in proportion to their accomplishments. Not the excessive silliness going on now to the point of deification. (that is often not called) the chiefs are one of my fave teams to watch, Mahomes and Reid are admirable and creative compared to most of the league. (sp) I do agree that the last 1.5 minutes was pretty boring. But you can't change the rules just because you want an exciting ending. I thought during that time that it was a shame that the game was almost certainly going to end with a chip shot field goal. Both teams deserved better... but that was how the game was played out. I have watched NFL football for 60+ years, and this sometimes happens. However, I would not have changed the action and strategy of the whole game just for an exciting last 1.5 minutes. Some of those passes that Hurts threw were amazing. Talk about threading the needle. Mahomes breaking free on that 26 yard run... And the way Reid and his staff neutralized the Philly defense in the 2nd half was pretty impressive. What a change from the first half when Philly was almost unstoppable. This is what happens when one coaching staff has experience and the other does not. Let's hope that the Philly coaches learn that you can't always rely on talent to win games, there has to be continual adjustments to the other side... just like military strategy. So no one deserved to lose this one. They were just outplayed and outcoached. Next time may be different. 1 Quote '55 and '59 B3's; Leslies 147, 122, 21H; MODX 7+; NUMA Piano X 88; Motif XS7; Mellotrons M300 and M400’s; Wurlitzer 206; Gibson G101; Vox Continental; Mojo 61; Launchkey 88 Mk III; Korg Module; B3X; Model D6; Moog Model D
