I actually like both of those pedals.

I’m certain I could recreate a lot of what I heard with pedals I already own, but in each case, it would require more than one.  And some of the pedals I’m thinking about aren’t common…or even in production anymore.

So each has a place in the world that isn’t easily filled.

I thought you'd like everything about that TWA Octoverdrive- including the brand. I know you either have or would like to have other pedals from them, and that they tend to ne unusual, virtually unique pedals.

I have LOADS of octave-fuzz pedals, and even one "Octidrive" octave-overdrive. I have no need for this one from TWA; although if I had casual disposable funds enough to warrant just getting various pedals to round out collections and a desire to do so, I would probably get one- along with JHS EHX Lizard Queens both large and small alike. As it is, I really have no need for any of the three- or what they specifically do- I primarily like their respective concepts. (The Lizard Queen having outstanding and entertaining actual AND fictional back-stories!

As for the Benson Delay, if I wanted or needed an analog or analog-flavored digital echo pedal, it would very definitely be in very good company on my short-list of such pedals. Judging by these two demo videos that I posted above, it's outstanding. As it is, I prefer tape-flavored echo pedals, already have an outstanding one, and any other echo/delay pedals that I might get will very likely also be tape-styled.

Your memory serves you well!  I do have a few TWA pedals, and yes, they DO tend to the unusual and/or aspire to deliver among the best of a given kind of pedal.

That Octoverdrive could be a lot of fun in an alt-rock or shoegaze pedalboard. I can envision a Jesus & Mary Chain/Jack White fusion sound quite easily, using it with some of the other pedals recently mentioned in this thread.

You might also like my Way Huge Purple Platypus Octidrive MkII, which fuses a WH Red Llama Overdrive with a Dan Armstrong Green Ringer-based octave-up frequency-doubler that has a lot of potential ring-mod sounds.

I think that the playing in the above posted TWA Octoverdrive goes a long way in making that appealing; I have to wonder, if the same guy playing the same stuff through the Purple Platypus might have a similar impact...

I just found a new email from Old Blood Noise Endeavors (OBNE) in my inbox, talking about their new pedal, the Beam Splitter.
https://oldbloodnoise.com/pedals/p/beam-splitter?ss_source=sscampaigns&ss_campaign_id=652ee0fde068e3503db7bfca&ss_email_id=6530b6d2e068e3503ddd5ef5&ss_campaign_name=Welcome+to+the+world+of+Beam+Splitter&ss_campaign_sent_date=2023-10-19T04%3A56%3A47Z

After watching the video below- the least weird and most demonstrative of the 3 on their site- I knew it belonged on my GAS list, and that others here might dig it even more than I:

@hurricane hugo- nice photo, and nice board. I have to second @Caevan O’Shite's question, is it yours?

Sorry to say, but the plodding, Sludge-Rock Guitar riff in the OBNE video was too much to take. Where is King Buzzo when we need him?

OTOH, like so many of these demo videos, it got me thinking as to how to reproduce, or even expand on that sound, using gear we might already have. My first thought was to send a Stereo Modulated Delay, maybe a Panning Delay w/Modulation, out through 2 different OD/Distortion pedals. A slow, deep Sine Wave Mod on the Delay could even get you some of that De-tuning sound, with the Distortion effects smearing the Modulated Delay.

Yours, Hugo?

Believe it or not, I'm not a pedal guy; always preferred going rackmount myself. The company that makes the switchable gooseneck lamp pedal dropped an email in my inbox, so I though I'd share the pic here. Not saying I'll never own a pedalboard, but if I do, I damn well won't have one that big.

Dannyalcatraz: was just going to post a Beam Splitter vid myself. Damn, I love that thing. Here's OBNE's description from their email announcement for those who don't want to watch the video; maybe this will change your mind:

The OBNE Beam Splitter takes one signal and makes three copies of it with differing overdrive voices and delay times. It is specifically our way of creating a huge sound out of a regular one. Output can be kept in parallel mono or split individually to three places. While the goal is singular bigness, you can also find strange filters, flangers, lo-fi vibratos, and trailing slap-back echoes using the delay controls and blending everything to taste.

edit: decided to post this video because it's so hands-on.

Thanks for posting that demo!  That’s a much better & practical demo, overall, although the OBNE vid has a section where it’s a bit more obvious what the beam splitter can do.

I have a Bicycle Delay, although the graphics aren't nearly as interesting. It's a pretty weird Delay. Good luck getting a simple Echo effect out of it. I think I even shared an early demo video at one point?

If you like trippy, pitch-bent Echo effects, the Bicycle Delay is your friend . . .

And who doesn't? 😉 That's a cool pedal, though its sounds and strengths are not a priority for me, so I hadn't bought one or planned on doing so...

@Caevan O’Shite- It's almost impossible to get a conventional Delay sound out of it. Another oddball Delay built around a Princeton chip.

Are you a Strat guy?  Do you prefer P90s?  And have you had a hankering to occasionally season your riffage with metallic tones WITHOUT resorting to humbuckers, etc?

Well, your fairy godmothers at DOD have been listening:

Radial makes some GREAT items. I have and love a Radial Tonebone Plexitube dual-channel, Marshally OD/Distortion that's pretty versatile at and tough to beat for what it does.

I can easily see this Headbone VT being very useful- in particular, I do happen to have two tube-heads and one speaker-cab that matches them each very well. Ultimately I'd love to have a cab for each, and run them as an A/B/Y duo, especially Y'd together simultaneously; but there's also a lot to like about saving space, money, and set-up/take-down time with the Headbone VT switcher... a LOT.

New Chase Bliss pedal. Video dropped a few minutes ago; haven't seen it.

Oooh, I like 'Phase Jitter' Mode... Verb, and Filter...

I don't always care or have use for some of the more unusual effects pedals, such as many that Chase Bliss puts out. This has some sounds, some potential, that I'd enjoy, though it wouldn't be an all-the-time staple for me, just special touches, if you will.

At times, some of the sample-setting sounds in this demo video remind me of sounds I was getting long ago by combining octave fuzz, 'clean/dry-blend', a Leslie-sim pedal, maybe a chorus, and something- I can't remember exactly what?- on my DigiTech GNX4 that I'd set a number of control-setting 'all WRONG' on, yielding a moody, dreamy, sputtering and rippling sound that would ONLY respond when I played in a small area around the 12th-Fret and above (maybe up to the 17th-Fret?)... Strangely, if I played 'normal' stuff at most positions of the fretboard, often nothing would be heard... I don't mean no effect, I mean no sound, no notes, at all. It was weird, but very beautiful, with dilating speeding-up and slowing-down warbles...

Another video that's going to have me diving into some of my stranger toys to see how close I can get to those sounds.

If it were more like $250-275, Could really see blending it with the Infinite Jets . . .
