Here is another tune that I am producing. The special part of this song is that it was done completely with VSTi's. I haven't recorded the vocals yet - here is the track (done in Nuendo). Pretty amazing what you can accomplish with just a computer and a controller nowadays...

I didn't understand the words of course, but sounded smooth and professional (which you are I assume). The singer is excellent too, IMHO. :thu:

(tho I dont really like the hard Hebrew "chhhaa" sounds in a song). What converters do you use?

I liked the production, especially the background vocals and piano. It's got nearly a "country" feel with the bass and slide guitar... but not the vocal twang! :thu: guitplayer

I'm still "guitplayer"!

I've just registered here, hi to you all - this is my first post. I would love to hear some feedback on our music, which is pop/rock with female vocals. We are a couple of months away from releasing our debut album so all feedback and thoughts are extremely welcome. Again, great to be here! Liam http://www.soulpowermusic.com

Well, here's my very first posting here: I\'m Too Tired I know there's work to be done on it, but it should give you an idea. I don't think I even write 1 song a year but I'm trying to develop. I was pleasantly surprised to come up with this song in a few days.

The singing is out of tune in many places. I see what you mean about the Kinks, but that's not what I was going for. :p The drum loops just need a couple of fills added. I wasn't too fond of the guitar tone. The distorted was to mid-rangey/honky and the clean just doesn't sound that good to me. The song is a bit long. The chorus is longer than normal and I repeat it three times. Maybe I'll replace the first one with a short instrumental intro. The thing is, the first chorus sets up the first verse. The first chorus ends with "How'd we end up here?" and the first verse talks about how the relationship started. Maybe shortening the instrumental break between choruses and verses in half would cut it down enough.

Schmee...is that you singing? Shine is a very cool tune. I'm not sure if this is a finished version for a CD or if it's intended as a demo kind of thing. Vocal sounds really good. Interesting guitar pickin'. There are a few places were the timing is a little off. Nothing major. I like the sound of the guitar also. Maybe you could raise/lower the dynamics a bit more. In spots, the guitar is competing wit the vocal more than I'd like. Nothing major though. Bass and drums are solid. Is that a drum machine hi hat in the beginning? That bugs me whatever that is. Hahah. Um, The drums are a little low in the mix. But they sound nice. Nice bass drum sound in my cans. Back to the guitar. This is just my preference but the guitar solo sections are a little confusing. It's improvised. That's what you're going for so no worries. I tend to go for more definitive phrases. EDIT: One more thing...now I think you could take some high end off of the guitars. It's not bad but I think it'd be a little warmer sounding and would create room for the vocal. Finally, the lyrics. I'm real into lyrics. And these aren't bad. I'm not exactly sure what's goin' on wit the lyric yet but I'm interested in them. Nice job Schmee! :thu: What are you playin' on this tune?

Mjspark, I've just listened to "euphoria." Nice work! The song evokes, for me, something like a Brazilian tribal ceremony or ritual. A voluptuous, wet-skinned young woman and I...er... Killer bass line you got runnin' through there. I really like it. The layers of sound are appropriate and well put together. All good mano! The only thing I can say I'd like better is if everything were recorded with "real" instruments instead of samples. That's just me. But you did one HELL of a job getting those samples to sound appropriate and creating that environment. It woulda cost ya about $1,000,000 dinero to record that with in the flesh musicians so I don't have an answer. :D Good luck with the CD! And whoever that girl is on your website:
Nice job Schmee! What are you playin' on this tune?
hey, thanks man! i'm fond of it too - it's just for fun. on this one i'm playing everything. kinda proud, for it doesn't actually use any sequenced elements which is rare for me. agreed on the various critical comments too - it's all improv'd. i laid down a bassline to a click track and built it all up from there - all improvised as usual. the lyrics were written at the end of the process. took about 4 hours total to make/perform/mix. NB: the drums are v-drums and the particular set i was using i liked the bass and snare sound ("60's Rocker" heh), but the cymbals are probably the worst out of all the sets - i was too lazy to change the open hat to something more natural sounding =p thanks again for the listen =)

hello- Rock Bassists & Drummers please advise: Want to see if it could be fun to play Live for a drummer/bassist. Or, if bassist & drummer could tweak, rearrange, anything to make it interesting for them. Would the song make you interested enough get out and play? I'm putting together a demo of about 5-6 songs to shop for bassist & drummers to make a 3-piece. Hopefully to share lead vocal duties with them too. For a couple gigs a month, good weekly practice schedule/work ethic. Not going for multiplatinum world domination here. Really looking for other guys with day jobs like me. Song is track 1) "Battle" http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=2962&alid=-1 any comments would be appreciated

The singer is flat on some of the high notes, though. Too much reverb on the vox for my taste which also puts it back in the mix too much. This song sounds like it should be a showcase for vocals so it should be more up front in the mix. I'm listening on cheap computer speakers. I'll try to listen on my monitors when I get home and see if it sounds different.

Forever Strong
Reverb on the vocals??? Where? I heard a very faint echo, but that was it. I actually think it would benefit for MORE reverb on the vox. The singer is good, but not quite in control of her voice to not have a little FX there to smooth out the imperfections. Loved the piano and bass. They sound great. At first I thought the piano was real, but by the end I was less sure. Bass was nice and full sounding. Drums lacked much punch. I know it's not an 'in your face' tune, but the drums would benefit from thump. Also, the drummer wasn't sure of the tempo when he/she came in. I'd redo that part, or just leave the drums out until the first chorus, because it sounds fine without them. Didn't care much for the string patch, or the strings in general. I think it takes away from the piano which sounds so nice. I would put an ambient pad in the chorus and middle 8 to fill it out, and forget the strings and just let the piano be the focus. Oh, and I listened through my Sony MDR headphones, because I CARE how your recording sounds. :)

Super 8
