[complaint] [font:Impact] THIRD SHIFT SUCKS![/font] [/complaint]

I want to give a big shout out to all those who chose not to sleep in the dark with their spouse, significant other, partner, pet, whatever, in the pursuit of earning a decent living.

Caffeine is good.

Since we're still OT...

I wish that I could drive this car with a full tank of gas....at top speed...and the 12 minutes it takes to run the tank dry...

Yep, seen all those.

I spent about a month scouring the internet finding clips of the Veyron in action.

Top Gear is such a cool show. Wish I could get it in America.

If I ever win the lottery, I am SO buying a Veyron....

*sighs* *dreams*....

Of course, I could always buy one of these...

Well, my first Volkswagen, I bought new in Germany in 1958. I put a supercharger on it and it would run 95mph, fuel would last about 10 hours. They have made some inprovements but mine cost $1,200.00. My VW was better when you figure MPH vs. Cost.

Don't get me wrong, I would trade it for a Veyron.

I thought he said the tires would wear out in 15 minutes???

Still though, that would be some of the fastest 12 minutes anyone has ever experienced....

I was wondering if Aussie pie was slang for something else so I did a little research.

According to Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) the meats allowed in a meat pie are beef, buffalo, camel, cattle, deer, goat, hare, pig, poultry, rabbit and sheep.

http://www.cartoonstore.net/cartoons/5025.jpg

"Especially Rabbits!"

Kangaroo meat, a leaner alternative, is also sometimes used. It may include snouts, ears, tongue roots, tendons and blood vessels. Only offal (such as brain, heart, kidney, liver, tongue, tripe) must be specified on the label. Wild animals ("slaughtered ... in the wild state") may not be used.

Mmmm... nothing says good eatin' like offal! Tasty though I'm sure the Aussie pies are, I think I'll stick to good old American Pie.

Since when is brain considered offal? It's quite the delicacy.

"For instance" is not proof.

I think you'll find that the quality of the meat in "good old American pie" is not much better. Unless, of course, the article I read a couple of years ago in Vanity Fair was complete BS. Oh, and didn;t you guys have all those mad cow thingie problems back in the 90s?

Some Aussie pies dont have meat at all - they use something called 'textured protein'.

But see here, and look in 'commercials' on the rhs, then the bottom left (restaurant.mpg) - very 'Aussie'.

(Edit to add - now that was a nostalgic trip for me - the bus one in particular - the song is almost our national anthem, up there with 'Skippy the Bush Kangaroo')

and here for a more posh offering:

btw the dead horse on top is pretty much compulsory.

To misquote Mick :

I know its only meat and pastry but I like it, like it, yes I do.

ps is there a prize for in a post have the writing the most convoluted?

Nothing wrong with a good bit of offal - Haggis is made up of offal and it's delicious, especially with a glass of Speyside Malt......

I posted this link in one of the other threads but I doubt amny will see it and it's a cool link - so . . .

Santana live in Ghana 1971!

This gig had a huge cultural influence bringing that Afro-Latino-Rock sound back to the source and influencing a whole generation of African musicians (as did James Brown). It's fascinating to me to listen to how the sounds of the African diaspora fed back to and influenced contemporary African music. I remember Youssou Ndour talking about the massive influence of Rumba on those guys and it was a blast all the years I played African music to be able to dig into funk, reggae, Afro-Cuban and rock influenced grooves.
