  1. Its been a while. I had to take a break from the computer. I think that the computer is more addictive than many drugs. I had not seen the "homework" page until just now. Sweet. Finally got a group up adn running. Vocals, bass, and drums. Thats it. Had people up and out of their seats 1/2 through the first song and that makes me happy. Jonathan
  2. A few other questions... At what point in this thread did you say to yourself "what the hell was I thinking" Jonathan
  3. I will look through the thread but pages are opening slow for me this morning in the anus of america. I need some advice on retubing a fender bandmaster quickly. The local tech cant get it done by this weekends gigs. Long story short, vibrations/tapping were producing distortion through the amp. We waited for it to cool and I pushed the tubes back in. Then we tried it again and no distortion. Should We Retube it? If so, can I put a matched set of the same kind of power tube in and not have to have the bias set for 2 gigs? Or is that still to long to wait? How does a bassist check the bias? Does that make me a bias bassist? Thank you Myles. And if you dont wee this by friday at 6pm, dont worry about it. Jonathan
  4. Last post, i'll stop with the many small ones soon:) Maisie, nice score on the bass, maybe he will develope some senial tendencies and forget the bass. Can you get us pics? Jonathan
  5. Yes, this brings up my current dilemma. I need to fix the suspension on my car. Here is the background: Its a 93 audi with about 165,000 miles. I have beaten the thing to crap on the inside so no real chance to sell it. Everything else on it works like a charm. Just had diagnostics done on it and everything is in tip top shape. I like the car and it fits my bass rig with no problem, the PA is another story which is one reason I have thought of getting a truck with a topper. The suspension is going to cost me about $1,500-2,300(new front axels, new struts, one new Joint). In 3 years that will make about $3,000 in repairs which seems alright to me instead of paying for full coverage Insurance and for a car payment. So my question: is it worth it to fix up a car that does everything I need or do you guys think that at its age(14 years old.older than Maisie) its time to put her down and get a newer vehicle. Since Im buying used I might just be getting someone elses problems and have to pay more than I would to fix this one. I think I have answered this one myself, but do you chaps have any input besides the ones on your bass heads? Jonathan
  6. Raining and cool, around 66F. Goind to take the dogs for a run, go to school do some laundry, and then.......PLAY SOME MUSIC...and then back to school. Hemp bread with peanut butter and jam just isnt that wonderful for breakfast, but I do feel god afterwards. Jonathan

  10. In a town called Bedford, not too far away, I have a gig at a strip bar ! ? I'm not sure at what level I can expect genetic stability in Bedford, and I imagine chickenwire and breastfeeding babies all in the same room. It's not till April so I'll get back to you guys (by then I will have a camera and will take pics for you guys;) ) and let you know what happens. Luckly we will be in a different room than the Girls(wait, my guitarist didnt say if it was a male or female strip joint... oh well) and we play from 10-12 which keeps us away from the way too drunk people. Have a good one, Jonathan
  11. I tend to cycl;e caffeine out but going from coffee to tea to nothingand then start again. This is so I dont ever get a huge addiction and so I dont have to drink 5 cupsto get up in the morning. Interesting thing about caffeine... it makes your body release adrenalin so you can kill your adrenal glands. Not 100% about this lst part, but I think it makes it harder for you body to release adrenalin on its own terms if you become too dependant. They drink coffee in England? I thought that was illegal. Jonathan
  12. How many times do you suppose an open E note has been hit on a bass guitar in frustration? Also how many times have people played 1 5 1 5 etc since the 50's? Jonathan
  13. Jonathon, I'll see your eleven year old and "lower" you by one year. Benyamin Check out the rest of his videos. This kid is scary good for a ten year old. I'll see you 10 year old and raise you an 8 year old drummer! Wow that kid on Piano shure was amazing. If I could just get him and this drummer to play music with me life would be much easier. Jonathan

  15. There is already a bass part to it... you jsut play the root note exactly as the guitar player plays the power chords. So really, he is a glorified octiver. Jonathan
  16. YAY, what a wonderful night so far. I just got my keystation88 yesterday in the mail. After work today (1:30pm) I sat down with it plugged it in and came up with 2 song structures using some old blues and rock organ plug-ins from Logic Pro. Then I was able to take all my years of finger tapping on school desks and play a funk drum set and set the background for the 2 main parts of the arrangements. Vocals and BASS. I am so excited. WOW I just realized I played for a solid 7 hours with no phone/meal interruptions. My wife called and broke my trance(my stomach helped with that) and said she is going to bring me home a marinated peppercorn filet, mashed potatoes, pecan pie, and steamed veggies from her "high f-A-lutin" restaurant. I did come out to see my other dog Benny (Not the one who is loosing it but the 7 month old puppy) had chewed my wifes mp3player to tiny pieces, some of which I will see on tomorrow mornings walk. It not the dogs fault, I should have checked to room before I left him to play in it, and she shouldnt leave out things on the floor because we know he will chew loose stuff. The tribute bass. SOUNDS AMAZING, however because the truss rod is stripped it is a touch crazy to play and frets past the 12th. Luckly I have found someone who can help, and for free. I love the many options of this bass. FOODs HERE!!!! Jonathan
  17. Sorry to continue to be a downer but. My dog is lossing his mind and becoming mean and biting people. I Think I will have to put him down I got a G&L tribute off ebay and it arrived today NOT as described. The truss rod nut is stripped (I emailed and asked specifically if he or anyone had ever touched it and he said no). And there is some wierd bluish green tarnish type stuff on the frets. I worked 16 hours today, 2 things fell on my head, freezing cold water got dumped in my shoe when someone dropped a crisping tub. Good to be here at home... In general I am still feeling good.
  18. Every package I get comes on friday. I work from 7am-1030pm on friday. I won an auction on wednesday, ordered a midi controller on monday, the adapter on tuesday from the same place, a 1spot last thursday. Everything is coming Friday. And it will be brought back saturday before 3pm. I work from 5:30am-3pm saturday. I have Monday off.... but my Fedex guy doesnt deliver on monday. On tuesday I have school from 10am-8:30pm and cant get home between classes. After 3 attempts they send it back to the sender. With each of these people I said "I dont want it to come on Friday". ERRR> I am having the busness next door sign for it... if Fedex will do that. Next time I will jsut have to send it to my work. ------------------ I wanted to post a link on another thread but thought that thisis to family of a forum for a weightlifter colon blowout. Jonathan
