  1. It's good to know that Modartt is supportive to their customers ;-). I can't judge if the Rhodes tones are improved compared to the previous versions, as I never took the time to check the Pianoteq demos before (It was never really an option for me to go to the modelling route until now). I also have Neo Soul Keys Studio 2 but never liked the base tones (even though I tried really hard). But what I heard from the Pianoteq v8 version as base Rhodes tones sounds appealing to me, even though I will not be able to make a final conclusion until I really try playing them. Fortunately, the Apple's app refund policy help to pull the trigger and get the money back if you're not happy 🙂
  2. I'm not so much interested in the acoustics pianos, but I'd like to give a try to the Rhodes, mostly due to the possibility to tweak numerous tone parameters. I'm a bit disapointed by what is feasible on my SV2, especially for the key off noises. They are present in the samples but at a low level, and it is not possible to adjust only the level of key off noises, as the RX layer is mixing the different mechanical noises all together. Therefore I see here a good possibility to solve my issue with this, in particular for studio recordings, not so much for gigging as the audience doesn't really care about it anyway. Also, it is attractive to me that they offer an iOS version: It means I don't need to invest in a new laptop 🙂 Let's see how much they will charge for it...
  3. Stuttgart, Germany. Originally from the suburbs of Paris, lived there until I had to move to Germany for profesional reasons. The good thing is that France is not too far away from me 😉
  4. Of course I totally understand your player’s perspective. I think it’s better to try it before coming to a final conclusion though 😁
  5. I don't feel like you for the Rhodes sound. I hear a nice and clear timber, with enough background details and noises but not too much. And I think it's good to get the bark easily by simply pressing a bit harder on the keys (on the SV2, you have to press pretty hard to get it, depending of course on the velocity curve you choose). I find the Tremolo effect also pretty nice, even though it seems to not be tweakable at all, or you can't even switch it off.
  6. I just listened quickly to the demos, and I must say that I find the EP1 very nice and quite different from the ones included in the SV2. Does anybody have an idea where it could come from? Kronos? Nautilus? It sounds also different from the ones included in the Vox Conti. So this has raised my attention 🙂 (Sorry can't stop looking for the perfect EP sound 🤣).
  7. Ok, thanks for your feedback 🙏 As this thing is so subjective, I’d like to hear them though to make my own opinion. But I’ll then patiently wait for a demo or a review 😁
  8. Hi everyone, could someone make a demo of the 2 Tine EPs? I’d like to hear how they sound compared to the Korg Module’s Scarbee before making any decision on buying this app. Thanks in advance 🙏
  9. Good luck to you for this first gig 🙂 We've all been through this at least once 😄 I can only repeat what many already said: if you make a mistake, just go over it and don't let appear that you (or any other band mate) made a mistake. In the end, the audience doesn't really care about it. Also, if somebody tells you after the performance: "Well done, you played great tonight!", do not answer "Hum, thanks buddy, but I made a few mistakes". Just keep this for yourself, and use it as a lessons learned for the next one. It means that once you've integrated this in your mind, you should no longer have anxiety before a gig because of the fear of making mistakes. Also one important thing: try to stay relaxed as much as possible the day of the performance, and avoid any useless source of stress. Have fun!
  10. I'd just like to add that the warmness of the sound on the SV2 depends pretty much on how strong you hit the keys. If you hit softly, then the sound will be pretty warm, but if you hit strongly, then it will be quite bright. This is especially true on the AP, and also a bit on the EP. This is something I've kind of learned to deal with on the SV2, which was definitely not the same on the SV1. So if you want to get a constantly bright sound, then you just have to change the velocity curve to use one which generates loud notes, if even you play softly.
  11. I bought the SV2 88 version mostly because it was much cheaper than the SV2s 88 version. I like the SV2s concept though. So sometimes I wish I had made another choice 😂 But that’s ok.
  12. A real treasure, as Donny’s footages are so rare 🙏
  13. Ok I can try that. But I’m happy with my side setup 😁
  14. Yes to me that’s the most natural stereo monitoring setup 🤷‍♂️ How else would you do it? I always put my monitor speaker on the side when I just have one, so I just thought ok, let’s put the second one on the other side 😂 Regarding my comment for the setup, I think it’s not that bad actually because the Voxen and these little stands are really light. It was the first time I did it, so probably that’s the reason why I found it a bit more complex than usual. I guess it’ll get better with time, as I get more used to it 😉
  15. Also one one my favorite album. And this cover from « What’s Going On » is to me a Masterpiece. So soulful 🤩 Thanks for the video, it’ll be useful for me to also try to play like that 👍
  16. Here’s the stand I use. https://www.thomann.de/de/thomann_amp_stand.htm
  17. Hey Scott, a lot of questions 😂 But I’m happy to answer them 👍 In the attached video, you can have an idea of how I set the Voxen. They were basically just surrounding the SV2 and pointing at me. I put them on a small stand which I bought at Thomann. I think my bandmates were mostly hearing the keys from their own monitors. Maybe also just a little bit from the Voxen, but they surely are not powerful enough to be used as monitors for other band members, especially on larger stages. I was using only the SV2, directly plugged in the Voxen. I could easily use a second keyboard as there are 3 inputs on the Voxen, with each their own independent gain setup. The audience mostly heard me from the FOH. Your problem with one single Vox is due to how the piano tone collapses in mono. I hear also the same when I’m just using one at rehearsal (even though it is not too bad) With 2 Voxen in stereo, the piano sound is exactly as it should be, and very satisfying to play. The drawback is of course that you have more stuff to setup 🤷‍♂️ IMG_4214.MOV
  18. So last Thursday, I tried for the first time to use 2 VX50KB for stereo monitoring on stage, and that was really great 😁 Man, it feels good to have a real stereo piano sound on stage 😁😁 As well The EPs with a real stereo auto pan effect cut through really well. The stage was quite large, and I had the drums and a singer’s monitor close, but I could hear myself well though. And I was not at the maximum gain and volume on the VX50KBs. So works pretty well 👍
  19. Welcome to the happy Vox Conti’s owners club 😁
  20. Interesting topic 😉 My own way: I’m writing basic leadsheets with chords and arrangements which I then print and carry with me to the gigs. I mostly don’t look at them while playing, but at least use it to know which song comes next, and which sound(s) I have to use (also noted on the leadsheet). When I have to reproduce note for note a solo, I just learn it by heart. Otherwise, then I just improvise. This has worked for me so far. Let’s see what the future brings 😂
  21. Hey Mark, of course Voodoo is one of my favorite album of all times 😁 Here’s another nice one from Charlie Hunter, featuring Mos Def.
  22. If you are interested by hearing more of this wonderful mix of jazz, hip-hop and neo-soul, I’d suggest then that you listen to the complete RH Factor album « Hardgroove ». This one of my favorite albums of all time, and perfect example of fusion between jazz and more modern music styles. All the musicians featured are really excellent 😁 There are some other very nice RH factor tracks, which I’ll let you discover by yourself 😁
  23. I don’t know what it’s worth, but in the french SV2 product presentation, it’s mentioned that the SV2 APs are derived from the Kronos 🤷‍♂️
