  1. Yes I know but to me they are very much outdated sounds now compared to what is offered by the SV2 πŸ˜… I was more referring to new sounds which can take profit of the bigger memory available in the SV2. Anyway, at this point I think it's just wishful thinking and that there was definitely no plan from Korg to upgrade anything on the SV2. And I think here Yamaha is definitely doing a better job with the CP/YC line.
  2. Happy owner of a Korg SV2 here 😁 I owned a SV1 for a long time and switched to the SV2 2 years ago. As said already here, the acoustic pianos are much improved compared to the SV1. My favourite is the Italian variant which I'm using at home for practice and on stage. The electric pianos and Clavs are also improved compared to the SV1: many different variants and a more detailed tone. The effect section is better than in the SV2 with more fine tuning capabilities. As a bonus, there's a large choice of available additional sounds in the editor and a compatibility with the DS-1H sustain pedal which is much better than the included one. The available XLR outputs are very good for stage usage. I like the RH3 action very much, but it is also probably because I'm very used to it. The only complain I would have is that Korg seems not be interested by offering additional sound packs, despite the fact that they wrote on their website that it would be possible to upgrade the SV2 sound collection by Korg's own sound packs or some provided by external developers.
  3. While I praise the concept, and the universality of the app between MacOS and iOS, I still don't like the sound I get from Pianoteq. I tried different presets, different piano variants, and different tweaks, but I can't find something I like. I guess I'm too much hooked on a certain type of sound after many years playing my SV1 and SV2. As far as playability is concerned, I don't feel any real difference between playing PTQ and my SV2 pianos. I recognize though there's a difference with the Synthogy pianos in Korg Module. Of course I'm not a classical or proficient piano player, and I didn't spend years playing a real acoustic piano, so my opinion is surely different from other people here who have a different background. I'm also pretty disappointed by the Rhodes piano sounds, as I had great expectations from them as I already mentioned before in the forum. For acoustic pianos, my reference is really the Italian variant of the SV2. So if somebody is able to show me how to get close to this sound with PTQ, I'm all ears πŸ˜„ Finally I'd say that there's no need to get into nasty debates on whether modeled or sampled pianos are better: I believe everyone can find something he likes in the large available choice of piano apps one can find today on various platforms. It's incredible how people can fight for such non important things πŸ˜‚ This statement is more valid for what I see in other forums where I hook up...
  4. I took some music and organ lessons when I was a child between 6 and 10. But I didn't like it at all πŸ˜‚ Then when I was 30, I decided to seriously learning piano, and jazz piano in particular. It was not easy and it took a lot of time, but I think I reached quite a decent level of playing which allowed to join bands with very good musicians, and to perform on a regular base. I learned it all by myself as I couldn't find any suitable teacher for me. So I used mostly books like the Jazz Piano Book from Mark Levine and also video tutorials on YT. As a side note, I also started to learn German when I was 40. And I've reached quite a decent level, without putting a lot of efforts in it πŸ˜‰ So I think it is very possible to learn new skills at a later age. The brain is really an amazing machine when used properly. Of course it is not easy and requires a lot of motivation and persistence. But it can be done. I wouldn't say that the piano is an easy instrument, because it can be played in many different ways. And sometimes, it's a struggle when you have worked out a certain of playing which doesn't sound with what you hear on a record. It can be very confusing and puzzling. Thankfully, there's a lot of knowledge and information easily accessible on the web.
  5. I'm part of these players who did a lot of home recording with drum tracks. Therefore I'm very sensitive to even the slightest tempo change. It can be very disturbing when playing with drummers who can't keep a steady tempo, even more considering that my playing is very syncopated. Therefore I'm complaining a lot when the tempo is too fast for me to feel comfortable. This leads to a lot of discussion with my band mates, but in the end, I almost always win 🀣 I get to the point now to try to force myself playing slightly behind the beat, in order to catch the tempo variations. We are seriously considering using click tracks in one of the band I'm playing with.
  6. Words of wisdom, thank you very much for that πŸ™πŸ˜…
  7. I unfortunately now have an uneven key at rest position on my Vox Conti (C3). It's more of a visual issue, as otherwise I don't feel any difference when playing. But I'm just a bit concerned now that the key will completely fail after some time. So not such a nice feeling 😞 Fingers crossed that I can keep using the board normally for some more years...
  8. The demo works only for 20mn before shutting down. So yes it’s actually timed out πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ But 20mn should be enough to test it though 😁
  9. ok thanks for the hints, it worked by using the plugin manager.
  10. Hi All, I'm sorry to derail this thread a bit, but does someone know how to delete the demo version from a MacBook? I've put all the files and folders I could find in the bin, but Pianoteq still appear in Logic's pro AU instruments menu as a choice. And when I open it, it works normally. This is kind of annoying as I've tried the demo and decided not to buy it. So I'd really like to take out any trace of it from my computer. Thanks a lot in advance for any help πŸ™
  11. When scouting the internet for Rhodes samples for Logic's sampler, I came accross this: https://www.keyboardwaves.com/product/rhodes-mark-deluxe-exs24/ From what I've heard on the YT demo video, it sounds pretty good to me and very well reproducing the real Rhodes it is sampled from, which is definitely the type of sound I'm looking for. Has anybody tried it and can give a feedback?
  12. Of course, sorry got it now πŸ˜πŸ™ Strangely, the Kontakt factory library manual is different when I access it from my laptop and from my ipad. I was looking at it earlier today from my laptop, and as I said, it describes the latest factory libraries (acoustic, band, beats…) but without describing in detail the instruments. I just looked at it again with the ipad, and the same link from NI’s website open the factory manual similar to the one in your snapshot, with the instrument description. But I think this is an older version of the factory library manual. Anyway, I find all this a tad confusing πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ It doesn’t really help the new potential customers to understand what’s included πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ
  13. Ok that's interesting, thanks for the hint. But are you sure? I've checked the online Kontakt 7 documentation and I don't see this mentioned anywhere. Also the description of the included factory libraries is mostly focused on the parameter description, and doesn't give any detailed instrument list. The Band factory bank just says "it includes e-pianos"... Pretty vague, isn't it. I still find it not so interesting to get all these instruments which I will most likely seldom use...
  14. Ok I’ll give a try then 😁 Any advice on setting it? Especially for velocity layers, sample length and if it is needed to sample every semitone, or every 2 or 3 semitones? Anything else to consider? Size should not be the main criteria here πŸ˜‚
  15. Yes I agree, just show us a glimpse of the basic tones so we can make up our mind lol!! Most of the time you'll rather be turned off by a super tweaked tone in a demo because this is not the way you are tweaking your own tone πŸ™„ This Scarbee's Frank Montis demo sounds really good to my hear, I must say though...
  16. Ok thanks for the hints πŸ™ It's the best when you can try out a demo. Then you can really careful tweak and hear the tones as you'd like them to be, and decide for yourself if they are to your liking or not πŸ˜‰
  17. OK, then I'm still kind of puzzled after these last statements, especially the ones from Al Coda and obxa 🀣 I think I'll start by getting the Scarbee EP-88S during a sale and then next to the Famous E. For the Wurli, I'm still hesitating between Scarbee and AcousticSample's Wurlie. Once I'm done with that, I need to start making up my mind for the acoustic pianos. I've not yet tested the Logic's ones though. So let's see...
  18. Thanks everybody for the good feedbacks, I really appreciate it πŸ™ My take away is that there'll be many different opinions based on the versatility of the Rhodes tones themselves coming from the different piano variants which were built up along the time, the different kind of emulations offered by different companies with different approaches, and the individual personal tastes based on one's listening experiences and musical preferences. So in the end it is a very individual quest and final choice. One thing I also still take away is that I think I favour emulations based on real samples rather than modelization. It never ceases to amaze me how versatile Rhodes tones are πŸ˜‚
  19. Actually Scarbee EP-88 only needs the free Kontakt player to run, so it's ok to me. I listened to the OrangeTreeSamples Famous E demos, and it sounds nice but I think I still favor Scarbee. It sounds more pure to my ears. As for Logic's Autosampler, I'm still wandering if it is worth the time and effort. But I'd be for sure very happy to have my SV2 and VC Rhodes and Wurlis available as software versions on the Mac πŸ™‚
  20. I can only confirm that the Krome 73 action is really bad 😞 I once was playing some Montuno parts with the Carlos Santana cover band I was playing in, and it was so hard 😞 I switched later to a Korg Vox Conti and It was already much better...
  21. Yes I've heard the Frank Montis demo, and they sound indeed really nice. Exactly the Rhodes tone I'm looking for. Do you have to pay in addition to get them? I will check the Wurly posts, thanks for the hint πŸ™‚ But this AcousticSample version sounds really great. I'm currently listening to the demos...
  22. Yes this is also my guess, and why I'm pretty much attracted by it πŸ™‚
  23. Yes I've seen many times the Orange Tree Famous E mentioned in the forum, but I never checked it. I will also listen to it.
