  1. Yes this is the one I'm talking about in my post lol. I have not yet used it on Mac but I'm heavily using the iPad version. So I think I'm pretty familiar with it already, which is probably why it is my number one candidate at the moment ๐Ÿ™‚
  2. I've recently acquired a MacBook Air M1 after my old HP laptop has crashed again and because I started to be a bit bored by music making on the iPad. I needed something more powerful and with more features, especially on the DAW side, to kick off again my desire to produce music. I've decided to use Logic Pro and I'm currently learning to use it during the 90 days trial (which is a very nice offer by the way). Now comes the topic of which instruments to get to work fully in the box, and most importantly for me of course the Rhodes. I've tested the latest Rhodes V8 plugin but I'm not convinced by its main tone. I think maybe it sounds too real for me (which sounds a bit strange to tell I must admit). It is for sure well reproducing the real Rhodes V8 tones, based on all the demos I've heard, but I think I don't really get along with it, especially in the high and low registers. Of course, I'm very much influenced by the Rhodes tones I've used for many years on the Korg SV1, SV2, as well as the Scarbee tone I used through Korg Module on the iPad. So probably now the V8 tone is getting too far away from it for me for the time being. So what should I do now? I was very much interested by the Purgatory Creek EPs based on the demos I've heard, but I'm really not happy that one has to buy the full Kontakt version to use it: it means having to pay 300โ‚ฌ to get many sounds that I'm not interested in and will probably never use. I think it is a really bad approach from them, but it is their decision and ain't nothing to do against it. I'm quite disappointed by this as I think I would have bought them without any doubt otherwise. My most likely candidate is now Scarbee, as I'm already enjoying it on the iPad and I think the Mac version has even more options to tweak the sounds and get different tones out of it. I find the price its price is even pretty reasonable. Neo Soul Keys studio 2 and VTines are no options for me, as I already tried them on the iPad and didn't really like them. I've tested Pianoteq and was neither convinced with it. Keyscape is neither a candidate as it also includes many additional instruments which I'm not interested in. Here I find it's a bit of a pity that one can't buy single instruments from it. Plus the LA custom type EP sound is not really my cup of tea. Same story for UVI Key Suite Electric. I know there are many more options in the market, but I don't think I will enjoy them more than Scarbee. Finally, the last option I'm thinking about is to use the Auto sampler function in Logic to create a software version of the SV2 Rhodes and Wurlis. Does anybody have any experience with it to sample Rhodes or Wurlis hardware versions? Ah and I forgot to mention that I tried a bit the Rhodes included in Logic, and found them not too bad. So maybe it could do the job until I make up my mind. For the Wurli, I was not so convinced by the Logic's versions, so I'm also looking for a solution for this. Here the Scarbee A-200 emulation seems to be quite good to me. So it is as well my number 1 candidate at the moment. One other option could be to use the iPad versions of Scarbee and of the Wurli included in Module by connecting the iPad to the MacBook with a Lighting to USB-C cable, but it is not so pratical as it is no more a full in the box solution then. So sorry for the long post, but this is what happens when you get into a new ecosystem of virtual instruments: you get puzzled by the vast offering and all the constraints that come together with it. Any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm looking forward to it...
  3. What a shame ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚๏ธ
  4. AnotherScott was faster than me as usual ๐Ÿ˜ I'd just say that if you look for a powerful and accurate B3 emulation, you should look into another board. I did a side by side comparison between the Nord Electro 5D and the VC on the day I came at the shop to buy it, and I personnaly preferred the action and the AP and EP tones of the VC. This made me pull the trigger, especially considering the huge price difference between the 2 boards there was at this time (in 2019). But I didn't have any expectation concerning the B3 emulation, as I was mostly buying the VC to have an affordable lightweight board with a good action and good AP, EP and Clav sounds to carry to rehearsals (I was using a Krome 73 before that and the action was really awful especially for playing AP so I was looking for something else). I neither had any expectation concerning split capabilities as I always use 2 boards anyway. So I just took the B3 emulation as it was, and put it to good use on some occasions. It was just enough for me. As a bonus, there is a very good sfz brass patch, and some very nice synth sounds (leads), with the side lever acting as pitch bend. So I use the VC as my main board for rehearsals and as a second board for gigs in combination with a SV2. But as I said and repeat here, I'm not playing organ centered music which requires very precise settings. Concerning the sound library, there was just an OS update at some point in time (same time as for the Grandstage) which brought some additional sounds, especially a nice soft piano and some bass and guitar sounds to be used for splits. But that's it basically. I don't expect anything more coming from Korg for this board.
  5. Yes, I have also tried it and immediately deleted it. I didn't like the sounds at all. But you know what they say about sound preferences ๐Ÿ˜
  6. @CyberGene: you already know that the perfect board doesn't exist, right ๐Ÿ˜„
  7. I'm personally fine with the B3 emulation of the VC, but I'm not playing organ centered music. I think the most annoying is not to have all the options available for Percussion and Chorus/Vibrato settings. I believe though that with the various included presets, one can find what he likes. Also, I recognize that these LED drawbars, though very convenient, are not so ideal for intense on the fly drawbar manipulation. The user experience is of course much different than with real drawbars. Otherwise, with the dynamics control and valve drive knobs, you can get some pretty decent tones IMO. But I know it's personal so I won't try to convince anybody that it is a very good B3 emulation ๐Ÿ˜
  8. @AnotherScott hum ok. Itโ€™s very strange that they would have initially promoted this feature if it was not included in the product ๐Ÿค”Unless it was a mistake on the website. It would be interesting to know from an owner whatโ€™s the truth. Also if the product was not improved, then why ask for a higher price compared to the previous version (beside the increase of component costs). On a side note, my only complain with the VC is that I have some slight scratches on the painting. Sure Iโ€™m heavily using it, but I wish it would be a bit more durable. But itโ€™s a very minor issue.
  9. The VC is indeed a very nice board ๐Ÿ™‚ I'm still very happy with mine (The Orange version). So very nice sounds in such a lightweight package! The new version has brought some slight improvements which I wish would also be implemented on the old version (namely the possibility to store EQ settings in a scene). But as I usual, Korg doesn't care about the existing users, so... anyway... Unfortunately also, they have not implemented the possibility to have independent octave setting on splits.
  10. I donโ€™t know because this time itโ€™s different: it is THE Rhodes emulation ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜‚ Of the latest flagship Rhodes piano model โ˜๏ธSoโ€ฆ
  11. Yes always ๐Ÿ˜‚ But this one could be the ultimate one ๐Ÿคฉ
  12. Yes thatโ€™s correct. Iโ€™ve been installing today the demo version on an old laptop but I must install additional RAM. So could not yet fully test it.
  13. Excellent ๐Ÿ˜ Itโ€™s finally there ๐Ÿ™ Now Iโ€™m just curious to know the prices and specs. It will probably run only on PC and Mac, but not on iOS. Edit: some details are actually available in various websites ๐Ÿ˜
  14. I didn't know that, thanks for the explanation ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ™
  15. I'm using a DXR10 unit in combination with the Korg SV2, and I have to say that I find the piano sound surprisingly very good in mono. I don't feel like I'm losing anything in the sound in comparison to what I'm used to hear in my headphones or through speakers in stereo. Actually I find it so good that I'm not anymore considering buying a second one to setup a stereo monitoring system. So I can only confirm the quality of the DXR.
  16. Hi everybody, I hope youโ€™re all good and are ready to ยซ slide ยป in the new year, as the germans say ๐Ÿ˜† I have to play this very nice tune with my cover band, and I would need some help to figure out the drawbar registrations, the percussion, chorus/vibrato and leslie settings in the various parts of the song. Any help would be greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ™ Thank you very much in advance ๐Ÿ˜ Hereโ€™s a link to the tune: Have a nice day ya all!
  17. For me it will never be the best final of all time, as France lost in the end ๐Ÿ˜ž Also, France was very weak during most of the game for some reasons I can't really explain. It was probably due to some nervous breakdowns after such a complicated turnament and fronting the aggressive playing style of the Argentinians. Probably also some physical issues for certain players as well as a very bad performance from some others (Dembele and Kounde I'm looking at you). But the saddest part is that France had the matchpoint in its feet ๐Ÿคฎ which makes the ending even more crual. Then the penalty session was once again a complete disaster ๐Ÿ˜ž From this perspective, one can say that Argentina deserved to win, but France was so close nonetheless. However, I really don't like the Argentinian teams' behavior, constantly simulating injuries, yelling at the referees. Moreover, they have done this the whole turnament! Really bad from them, and that continued even after the game!! So to me Argentina is not a nice world champion, and I will always remember that unfair behavior. Anyway, I'm really pissed off now. Need some days to get it over....
  18. Allllleeeeeeezzzzzzz les Bllllleeeeeeeuuuuuusssssss!!!!!!!!!! Sorry I couldn't resist ๐Ÿคฃ For me it's 50/50 against Argentina. Yes they are a good team, with the best player in the world. But we have also a good team, with the 2nd best player in the world and some other top players. I just don't like so much the way France is playing, letting the opponent team dominate during a certain period of time, and waiting to counter attack. I think it's very dangerous, and that France can do it differently. Also it's very stressful to watch for the fans ๐Ÿ˜ฌ but it worked until now, so who am I to criticize ๐Ÿคฃ... So let's see what happens in the final round...
  19. Well done France ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘!! Even though there are still some issues in defence ๐Ÿค” But we have a top player: Kylian Mbappรฉ ๐Ÿคฉ If he continues like this, I think some good things could happen. But before, the team must solve this defencive problem. Itโ€™s a must for any team to go far in such a competition. Now I can watch England-Senegal peacefully ๐Ÿ˜
  20. Sure, but that's also a possible way of playing soccer, as they say lol. Ask Jose Mourinho ๐Ÿคฃ Anyway, definitely not my cup of tea... The best chance for France to overcome it is to score a goal very quickly. I like the way Japan plays ๐Ÿ™‚
  21. As a French guy, I'm a big soccer fan, which is the number one sport in my home country anyway, as well as in the country where I'm currently located (Germany). Therefore I'm heavily watching the World Cup (even though I'm not so happy that it takes place in Qatar...). Now that the French team has overcome the World Champion's curse (not getting through the group phase), I'm really wandering what will happen next ๐Ÿ˜‰ It will not be so easy against Poland as I expect they will play mostly defensive, and rely on their very good goal keeper to maybe reach the extra time and penalty kicks session. This is definitely not the favorite configuration in which the French team likes to operate ๐Ÿ˜ฌ So I expect it to be a very stressful game, but let's see!! Otherwise there are some very interesting games in the next round, like Morocca against Spain, Netherlands vs USA, Japan vs Croatia, England vs Senegal... well all the games look interesting actually lol... Hopefully this will keep on being fun ๐Ÿ˜‰
  22. Finally someone who shares my view on the horrendous DX7 FM sound ๐Ÿคฃ
  23. My preferred topic ๐Ÿ™‚ Scarbee is also my favorite Rhodes emulation, which I use on iOS through Korg Module. I also have Neo Soul Keys Studio 2 and VTines. But as I said already several times on this forum, I don't like the basic tones of NSK2, though I like the concept and the flexibility it offers. VTines neither sounds so good to me compared to Scarbee. Now I'm waiting to try the Pianoteq Rhodes once they will be available on iOS. The Purgatory Creek EPs I heard through their demos sound good to me, but one need to use Kontakt for playing them. I wish they would offer it as standalone on PC/Mac and iOS but it doesn't seem to be in their plan. It's really a pit because once again, I really liked what I heard.
  24. Interesting discussion on the Nord's keyboards ๐Ÿ˜‰ For me, the biggest complain I would have is that they are simply too expensive. I think one can find better value for money elsewhere. For example, I once considered getting a Nord Electro 5D to have a good sounding lightweight board for APs, EPs and organs to carry to rehearsals. But I ended up getting a Korg Vox Continental which at the time was much cheaper and also good sounding (tried both in a music shop). Of course, I recognize that the Electro had better features than the Conti (especially physical drawbars and split capabilities), but still I felt better spending less to get the Conti. And the split functionality was (and still is) for me not a must, as I prefer playing with two keyboards. What I like nonetheless from Nord and wish my favorite brand (Korg :-)) would offer on other boards besides the Kronos and the Nautilus, is the possibility to exchange or expand the factory sounds by other ones from the sound library. From user perspective, I think it's a very good selling point. Also I must say that I was not completely thrilled by the AP and the EP sounds on the Electro. But it was already 2 or 3 years ago, and I believe the latest ones available on Electro 6 and Nord Piano 5 are maybe better. But anyway, I don't have any plan at the moment to buy a new board. I'm rather thinking on checking new software emulations especially for Rhodes.
