  1. i had a Vent years ago that i bought to pair with an Emu B3 module. The Emu was samples. The samples had been recorded via a Leslie cabinet. So even if I used the samples ‘dry’ without the rotating speaker effect, they still had the Leslie cabinet sound baked in. So does the Vent, at least version 1 did. So I had a Hammond sampled though a Leslie cabinet into a simulated Leslie cabinet. Not good. Unless you can bypass the simulated Leslie cabinet in these pedals and just run the doppler effect you may have the same problem running a pedal with a Leslie cabinet sim into a real Leslie cabinet. Into a non-Leslie cabinet like a Polytone, sure.
  2. The CK61 doesn't feel like a DX7. If Yamaha had just kept putting the DX7 keys in their boards we wouldn't be constantly complaining.
  3. On Scribd I've found back issues of a Hammond Organ mag with transcriptions, out of print Dollar Brand/Abdullah Ibrahim sheet music, not so sure about pop lead sheets though
  4. This is my lead sheet for Valerie, written with Musescore (freeware), no lyrics but has the string lines written out and the whole structure. Valerie.pdf
  5. Each to their own. I've always found a 15' speaks too slowly and the lows tend to muddy. If I'm playing left hand bass a 12" is good (or 2x10"), if not then a 10" is just fine. Yeh the DBR10s are good value. For a lightweight set-up I've now gone to an Everse 8" (7kg). It puts out more than enough to keep up with a loud electric blues band. ymmv.
  6. That reflects my experience with Moises. Guitar survives the process relatively intact, but the default assumption seems to be that if it could be guitar it probably is, and where there's overlap in frequencies/sound with keys they get removed from the keys stem, leaving a hollowed out keys track with just the bits you could already hear sticking out when you listened to the full mix.
  7. I've been down this rabbit hole a few times and tbh I'm not sure you'll really find anything better than your Electro, I invariaby found 3 octaves just not quite enough - I'd find myself using the octave up or down button and then forget where it was at - and it's not that much bigger than a 4-octave board or controller. But yes the MPC looks tempting 🤣 We can always rely on this forum to trigger GAS.
  8. Thanks Luke, lol. Not sure the KingKorg Neo 'll do piano or Mellotron, or a credible clav or Wurly for that matter. If it's just synth the OP asked for sure there are plenty of 3-4 octave options.
  9. Audio over usb is one of the things in the upgrade purchased through the Cloud, whether it’s class compliant and will work with a iPad isn’t stated: “The RD-08 Upgrade adds USB audio interface capabilities for working with music production software on computers. Communicate with MainStage on a laptop while performing. And use the RD-08 as both a MIDI controller and a high-quality audio sound source for your favorite DAW.” Other things mentioned are: SuperNATURAL Acoustic Piano 3 Apple MainStage integration Support for Wave Expansions on Roland Cloud https://www.roland.com/us/products/rc_rd-08_upgrade/
  10. maybe it’s like groceries and inflation, some have increased in price while others have kept the price point but shrunk the item by 20%, the latter being pretty much what’s happened with the RD-88 being replaced by the RD-08.
  11. Only 25 favourites and 40 scenes, so very much a basic entry level board. The RD-88 has 400 scenes and 100 favourites. Here is Australia the RD-08 is listed at AU$1889. The RD-88 is AU$1579. 🤷‍♂️
  12. same, but using Musescore, which is freeware. I used to just make a few notes on the song list, bridge chords or a particular riff, but I’m getting past the age of being able to keep shoving new material into my head. The more I do the faster I get, and i figure it’s good ear training.
  13. Moises gets highly recommended, it's a small monthly subscription fee, but tbh it does a less than commendable job separating 'other', say keys from guitar, such that I'll suggest that it or the paid version of Spliteroo probably aren't worth the $.
