i should have said I’ve put a piece of gaff tape around the legs at the height i want the stand so that I simply open the stand until the bolts hit the gaff tape, kick the legs out, and I’m done. I tighten the bolts a little when i pack the stand down, but not so much that they don’t move up the leg slits. I’ve never lost a knob. YMMV.

I just spread the two sides, so literally a second. I tighten the knobs a little when i pack the stand down, but rarely enough to have to loosen them to spread the sides. I’ve never used the crossbar. If you kick the legs out so they’re angled slightly it’s quite stable even with a second tier.

it takes a second, literally.

stand of your choice + a saw, add a touch of black paint to prevent rust.

i’ve listened through the title track a few times now and the vocal keeps reminding me of Donald Fagan, both lyrics and the melodic line 🤷🏻. Not sure if I like it yet. I can’t seem to throw the feeling that the lyrics are trying too hard to be clever. Has had me delving back into his back catalogue though, Murder is a great song.

regardless of what they used for the recording I’d go with a Wurly

Revamping the rig (for my Floyd tribute band)
niacin replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in The Keyboard Corner
those Floyd leads are gonna need delay and other fx so given those 4 choices I’d be going with the Polybrute. Also in a Pink Floyd tribute and using an SKpro I’ve similarly considered adding a third board at times, but the SKpro is a great MIDI controller and I can use it to play sounds from my second board. So you could for example set up an external zone on it to play the Welcome evolving pad sound in the Kurz. -
Yamaha MX49 is probably the smallest option. You mention piano, organ & bells so it sounds like you want a romper rather than a digital synth. The only alternative I know of is the already mentioned second hand Korg MicroX

Best keyboard stand for a Crumar Mojo + MIDI bass pedals?
niacin replied to John Salazar's topic in The Keyboard Corner
i have one of these, it may not work. In this case there’s still not quite enough space for an 18-note pedalboard, at least not Hammond’s, the Viscount might just fit 🤷🏻. But then there’s aligning the pedalboard with your Mojo to consider. What you need to keep in mind is that on a B3 there is an octave of preset keys to the left of the keys on your Mojo, so the left hand side of the pedalboard will need to line up to the left of the Mojo, otherwise your left foot is gonna end up resting above E or F instead of A or Bb. So for this stand to work, even if you can squeeze the 18-note pedalboard in, you’re going to have the Mojo positioned a way to the right of centre. A table design with splayed legs as in the other posts above might or something similar might be a better option -

I gave a friend who uses a K&M table style stand. Your bigger problem will be finding a bench that will fit over the pedals. -

yeh you won’t want it that low to play pedals. Suggest a stand for a large mixing desk. There’s measurements here: forums.musicplayer.com/topic/148078-hammond-b3-playing-height/# -
Same. Years later i came across a somewhat infamous video on youtube where Glenn Gould claims that Mozart was a genius who became a lazy hack. Whether you agree with him or not, he explained my disinterest in Mozart perfectly. Worth a watch.

When you know your band is playing it's last gig...
niacin replied to NewImprov's topic in The Keyboard Corner
sorry to hear. Some years back i was playing in a jazz quartet and the drummer, in his 60s and recently retired, was hit hard by Alzheimers. He showed up to one gig and couldn’t remember how to set up his drum kit. Pretty heartbreaking to watch. And of course that was our last gig. -
+1 to My Song & Country. Also Rider. Jarrett’s gospel/Americana stuff. Otherwise, he’s a jazz player, and if you don’t like jazz, well it is what it is.
