  1. After trying to clean the 2 sensors, I would take a look at the circuit board that has the sensors on it. It seems too regular to be a dirty contact. You may have a cracked trace or failed component like a diode or cap. Try to see how voltages behave on the adjacent key’s circuitry compared to the faulty key’s circuitry. First, though, see if you can make the problem go away or move to a different note by turning the fp4 upside-down and shaking it. good luck.
  2. I used to use an attached music stand but found that it rocked too much in sympathy with my playing. Happy to stick with a folding Hercules stand that fits in my case with keyboard stand, seat, and speaker stands.
  3. The original Stage 2 had one. Sweet action, if you can find one.
  4. I would certainly do a continuity check on the pedal before doing anything. Isn’t it the wires that normally fail?
  5. Loving my YC88, but have the same reservations about it’s Leslie sim others have discussed. I’ve bought and owned all the usual suspects and ultimately sold them because of their actions.
  6. Thanks for the feedback. The Great American Songbook songs are certainly more playable on piano with no vocalist than 70s songs, but they seem to be so overdone for a concert setting. As my sax player said, 'that"s my grandparents" music'. Concert in a nursing home - yes, but maybe not in a venue that is trying to boost visitorship.
  7. I"ve been asked to accompany a sax for a couple hours in a couple months. Rather than just show up and play a bunch of tunes, we thought we might go in with a theme and give a little narrative about the songs. We have no singer, but one thought we had was to focus on songs of the 70s. Have any of you done this? How did it work out?
  8. When I was considering the Nord Grand, I picked it off its stand and walked maybe 10 feet with it in GC showroom. It wasn't in its case of course which adds extra weight but I thought it felt pretty manageable for its listed weight. The two quoted Yamahas I own now, with a Soundwear bag, and they're both very doable for me at age 68. I will say though, the NG is easier to grasp then the slick surface of the CP88. It also has a convenient ledge to grip that gave me more a feeling of stability in my arms then the CP88. The CP88 sound and action is a notch up from the NG imo. An aside, maybe Nord will look into into this new wood Fatar action the NG2. When I was considering the Nord Grand, I picked it off its stand and walked maybe 10 feet with it in GC showroom. An aside, maybe Nord will look into into this new wood Fatar action the NG2. A little OT, but regarding the somewhat slick edges on the CP88, I was getting a little nervous about the same issue with my YC88. I bought a package of self-adhesive textured pads, almost like coarse sandpaper and about 3x5 inches. I applied two to the bottom edge of the YC88, one for each hand where I hold the keyboard when moving it from case to stand. What a difference!
  9. I had the same problematic situation. A friend suggested a weighted donut, like a barbell weight, lowered through the stand post and onto its legs. It would work, but kinda negates the nice low weight of the stands! And, yes, the K8.2s are nicely balanced on those stands now.
  10. Wasn"t that one of the 'reality' features added to the Nord piano, where the piano would gradually go out of tune of tune like a real acoustic?
  11. The Yorkvilles don"t have a pin; they just have a tightening collar. If I had problems with my K8.2s sinking, I would simply drill a hole for a pin.
  12. Have you looked at theYorkville short stand? Light and quite durable. Going on 10 years now with my pair.
  13. Do you suppose these can be set to whatever color you want, tailoring them to mean something in particular to you?
  14. Reezekeys, I hold my pedals in place by connecting (clipping) a short parachute cord between the front of the pedal and the front of my stool. It doesn"t prevent side-to-side motion, which isn"t a problem for me, but it does keep the pedal from drifting away.
  15. That was a very helpful question and answer. Now, does anyone know how to do the equivalent for the MODX?
  16. Well, time to get to work on making tailored transposed performances! It"s odd that the MODX was the first keyboard i have had in decades that doesn"t have a light on when it"s transposed. Oddly, the transpose lights illuminate if I have set an octave shift. I"d rather leave octave shift on accidentally than a semitones shift.
  17. In my case, the guitar player/singer is trying for a key he can sing AND play in, and I don"t get paid enough to play songs in B.
  18. Has anyone come up with some clever idea of how to indicate that you have transposed the board (other than octaves), so you don"t inadvertently leave the board transposed at the start of the next song? My band mates thank you in advance ð.
  19. I"m guessing it was a very cheap way to add a feature they could advertise.
  20. I think you should be worried about the zippers, which would probably let water in, thus the use for the rain fly they give with the bag. I"ve actually used the fly with my PG bag in heavy rain, and it wasn"t hard to use. I keep it inside the upper flap, where it was packed new. Light rain is Ok for the bag without the fly installed.
  21. One thing to keep in mind is that you might want to make an entirely new handle and use the same attachment points as the current handle, possibly even leaving the current handle in place (in case you ever wanted to revert to the original handle).. This gives you more flexibility in handle design. I have had success using thick vinyl tubing with parachute cord inside it as a more comfortable handle.
  22. Look at Soundwear Stagebag 88 case. Weighs 3.7kg. I used it for my CP4 and now use it for my YC88. Still looks brand new after years of use and is very high quality in my opinion.
  23. I made one 40 years ago that I still use. It"s 5/8 plywood, covered on top and edges with automotive carpet, fixed wheels in back and rotatable (steerable) wheels in front. Back wheels are about 10 inches in from the back to shorten the turning radius. A four foot by one inch thick rope with a loop for my hand goes through the top/front for pulling. I slide it in upside down on top of everything in my car. Easy-Peasy and cheap, make it the size you need!
