  1. If you need 123 dB, wouldn’t 2 K8.2s give you almost twice that?
  2. I have from time to time enjoyed giving tips on instruments I have owned, but I don’t think I would frequent a beginners forum just to do that. I suspect beginners benefit from interaction with “seasoned” players because they all use the same forum. Just my 2 cents.
  3. I think it is probably the internal battery. Get your screwdriver!
  4. I do use the superknob quite a bit and turned the “throbbing” off. If I could have used it to directly view the sequencer clock, it would have been much more useful to me. However, it’s very difficult to determine where the beats start because the light just fades in and out in tempo. I wish I could set it to blink on and off (rather than fading on and off) with the sequencer clock.
  5. I think it’s safe to say that the MODX+ was not intended to attract current MODX owners as an upgrade. Rather, it’s the next release of an already attractive synth (to some of us) to compete for the next generation of buyers.
  6. But, seriously, folks, I do have a miter saw stand, and it is very heavy. I would rather pay more for a keyboard stand that I could actually carry easily.
  7. A friend of mine used to ask the address and use Google earth to see what kind of house the hiring party lived in while they were on the phone to “tailor” his rate accordingly.
  8. Reverb used to sell keyboard boxes, I think.
  9. Yes, kind of like Lyle Mayes
  10. If enough of it is attached with Velcro, some could theoretically hang over the back
  11. The flat part is about 5-1/2 inches deep on the YC88. It looks like the same housing as the CP88.
  12. My Leslie speed switch is mounted on my damper pedal. That way I can control speed and expression concurrently, using different feet. I don’t usually want to use the damper pedal for the organ, anyway.
  13. Nah. It sounds exactly like my grandson’s orchestra.
  14. White = tip Red = ring Shield = sleeve
  15. Yamaha pro keyboards have a long warrantee. I would take it to your local authorized repair shop, have them diagnose the problem and order the part, then bring the board back to them when the part comes in. Problem solved.
  16. Mine is a little longer and not as thick. The length allows the York speaker stands to fit in between the keyboard stand and bench.
  17. I’ve been doing this for years. In addition, I carry my two York speaker stands and a collapsible music stand “inside” the bottom of the keyboard stand. I think any 76 or 63 keyboard bag would work. I think mine is a Roadrunner bag. Helpful hints: 1. adjust the keyboard stand length to take up the entire length of the bag and leave it at that length. 2. Glue or otherwise attach plastic cardboard to the inside bottom of the bag to keep bumps from the equipment from telegraphing through the bottom of the bag into other equipment you might stack this on.
  18. I doubt if Yamaha has a way to use the high switch as a trigger. The keyboard switch signals most likely go to some sort of hard-coded dedicated chip whose job it is to generate MIDI-like information (key-on, key-off, and velocity) and send it on to the main keyboard microprocessor.
  19. And you can always swap the offending strip with one at the top or bottom of the keyboard.
  20. I am actually using the sandpaper-like stuff. When I ordered it, I thought it was going to rubbery and grippy, but I really like the coarse texture. It’s not hard on your hands at all.
  21. Just to clarify, these strips are more “textured” like very coarse sandpaper than sticky like a cell phone pad for the car dashboard.
  22. I’ve seen a couple concerns voiced about holding onto these keyboards when lifting them, because their profiles are rounded and texture is smooth. You may want to apply some nonslip material where you typically grasp the keyboard. I bought some self-adhesive, textured rectangles that were applied on the back, bottom edge about 1/3 from the right end and on the front, bottom edge 1/3 from the left end. I no longer have ANY concerns about losing the keyboard when lifting it.
  23. It’s not too bad. I did it about 4 times with mine. The last time was to replace the entire keybed, which had started to crack in different places. They would a sell only the entire assembly, not octaves. Be careful of the multiple screw sizes.
