  1. Thanks guys. I own a few iOS apps already :- Pianoteq 8 Pure Piano Ravenscroft 275 GSi VB3m GSi Cantoria MOOG Model D MOOG Model 15 King of FM Sunrizer Sugarbytes Cyclop Regarding pianos, I personally prefer the CP’s built in Hamburg piano. The synths I have are already great but I would like high quality bread and butter sounds for covers at functions. I’m not totally against separate apps to use within AUM but if I could do all this within something like Korg Module this would be preferable and easier.
  2. Hi, I’m currently using a Yamaha CP88 as my main board for live gigs and think it is an excellent stage piano. I also have a YC61 as my second board and these two cover a large amount of my requirements. On occasions, I find myself requiring some more synth options or some additional voices that I don’t have on these keyboards so I’m looking to expand my sounds. I’m thinking something like Korg Module or IK Sampletank with their various expansions but I’m wondering what else is out there? Is there anything you would recommend above these? I have the AUM app so could go separate apps but don’t want things to get too complicated. Quality of samples is the highest priority followed by ease of use. What would you recommend?
  3. If find the CP88 works better for the work I’m doing than any other board I’ve tried ( Nord, Korg, Roland ). The overall tone of the pianos is well voiced and I particularly like the Hamburg Grand. I also, think many of the other tones are amongst the best I’ve heard on any board. I have used the CP88 for a mixture of live events from solo piano classical/jazz to trios, and bands in large theatres. I have also used it for a national radio session as well as various studio sessions. One piece of feedback I’ve consistently had from both other musicians and f.o.h. engineers is how great and balanced the sounds from this board are. I love the layout and workflow and find the various toggle and rocker switches really satisfying to use and the buttons all work great aswell. The appearance is great as it isn’t too flashy and looks quite understated which works well for classical and high end corporate jobs in posh hotels where you want the piano to blend into the background and not draw attention to itself. The keybed also feels great to play and I personally find it really connects with the samples very smoothly and better than any other board I’ve played. My only real complaints are the lack of true sympathetic resonance and the missing clavinet pickups. I would also really like to have adjustable mechanical noises for the pianos and e.pianos for really intimate acoustic gigs. Their CP515 already has sympathetic resonance and the CP is Yamahas current flagship stage “piano” so I’m surprised it doesn’t have this! Other competing brands have this. It would be great to have a few more user live set banks but at least there is a workaround using a USB drive. One final feature that I would love to have is to be able to route the audio inputs purely to the headphone output and not the main outputs. This would allow iem monitoring from the CP headphone output without needed a separate headphone amp. You would be able to either send a monitor mix from a mixer or plug in a click track. It would be even handier to have a click track/metronome feature built into the piano that has the ability to either send to just the headphone output, f.o.h. or both. I’m aware Yamaha made some new clavinet samples but they haven’t said which boards these will be added to. I am wondering if there will be any more further firmware updates that may address any of these highly requested features over at Yamahas ideascale or whether we’ll have to wait for the next CP range!?
  4. Thanks. I would prefer to play it live.
  5. Hi, I am looking for a decent Shakuhachi sample to recreate Peter Gabriel’s Sledgehammer intro. I would like something for my iPad or iPhone to trigger from either my Yamaha CP88 or YC61. What would you recommend?
  6. This is good to hear though mine definitely has velocity issues. I’ve measured this both within Cubase and with Pianoteq. The Code 61 has been discontinued and I don’t have anyone local that can fix it which means I’m likely going to need to replace it.
  7. I was hoping this would work on iPhones as well but this appears to be iPad only. I’m using VB3m on my phone which is fine but would like something a little better to use with my Yamaha CP88. IK’s B3X is also only iPad compatible.
  8. Hi, I'm looking for a midi controller keyboard with 61 keys, 9 sliders, 16 drum pads and aftertouch etc. I've been using an M-Audio Code61 for a while but the keys aren't particularly even in velocity response so I decided to upgrade and picked up a barely used Arturia KeyLab 61 mk2. I have frustratingly found some keys need to be played a reasonable amount harder to trigger the same velocity. Also, with the Keylab61, you have to press the drum pads pretty hard to get get them to trigger. This means I can't play pianissimo. Are there any other midi controllers with the specs I want that are better than the Code61 and Arturia Keylab61?
  9. Fully agree with this.
  10. NI Noire is my goto piano at the moment. I’m considering Ivory 3 when it gets released for Windows but it will be interesting to hearing how Pianoverse compares.
  11. I only have experience with the Yamaha CP88, Nord Stage 3 and Yamaha YC61. Regarding the CP88 and Nord Stage 3, I preferred the action and how the sample integrates with the keybed of the CP88 by quite a bit. I also prefer the piano sound in a live setting (along with many other sounds including the Rhodes). The Nords piano samples have more depth and adjustable sympathetic resonance that the CP and YC don’t have (though some of Yamahas boards have this including the cheaper P-515). The Nord also has adjustable mechanical noises which also add to the realism and can help in a solo classical/jazz performance. I haven’t tried the 73 note keybeds but a colleague of mine has and he personally preferred the Nord.
  12. My goto pianos at the moment are :- NI Noire Embertone Walker Concert D Pianoteq 8 Pro I use Noire the most out of these. The Walker is also nice but I’m not 100% sold on it. Pianoteq Pro has been consistently been making big steps forward and now I’m starting to find certain aspects of it more realistic than my sample libraries. It is also the most playable out of these. However, there are still a few areas where it sounds synthetic though these are improving with every update! I’m very tempted by the new Ivory 3 library as it uses both samples and modelling. I’m particularly interested to see how their other libraries like the American Concert D will be updated using their new v3 engine!
