  1. My father is a live sound engineer. His favorite quote from a manual is "All musicians tend to play the show louder than the soundcheck".
  2. I always think about just how much genius and engineering excellence and forethought had to go into the creation of MIDI. It amazes me to no end that 2022 products are able to talk to each other via a technology designed in 1981 that is so carefully thought out and extensible that it didn't even need to be updated until very recently.
  3. I have no experience with software samplers but I seem to recall that if the samples are named in some recognizable pattern, the software can automatically import it without a mapping file? Does anyone know more about this? I think having the wavs are pretty close to what you're looking for.
  4. I have that piano multisample in wav format: click here You'll need a Google account and push the button to ask viewing permission then I'll confirm it to you in an email and then you can download.
  5. What is entirely too funny is that in the official Fantom-0 demo video, the guy announces "our cutting edge SuperNATURAL Piano" and starts playing a two velocity layer sampled piano that I can recognize from miles away because it was in my 2002 FP-5 that I grew up practicing on.
  6. Just for curiosity, what were those decisions?
  7. What surprises me the most is that the specs for the Juno-X are exactly the same as on the Jupiter-X. I would have expected more limitations, but this is literally the same synth in a different box. Just bought one used! Now I need to figure out what to do with it... For me the JUNO-G is a keeper! Neither of its successors (the Gi, the DS, the FA and now the Fantom-0) yet managed to convince me to switch. It's not that they haven't improved, but the new features I don't have much use for.
  8. I don't have a FA because I'm quite happy with one of its predecessors, the JUNO-G. A shame there is no converter for the patches because all of the basic waves are certainly in there. Kurzweils are much better regarding patch compatibility. I used to do some of these online patch requests for free because I wanted to practice. If I had an FA I would probably love to help.
  9. Is it a gig situation? I usually create per-song setups where the boards are set up to communicate MIDI in some songs but not in others. There might be a send switch or a receive switch in those boards. Specifically the Nautilus I suppose is advanced enough to have that kind of option configurable per song.
  10. A favorite Hungarian artist of mine, simply called Charlie, I guess just never stopped using it. Here's two hit songs of his from 1998: (This song was also Hungary's entry into Eurovision 1998). And here's one from his 2020 album:
  11. A guy lent me his Clavinet in exchange for me giving it back restringed.
  12. I live in Hungary. Most well known organist here is Mátyás Premetz. I believe he rents his organ out as backline for foreign acts. I don't know of any venue with an organ, but the Budapest Jazz Club or the Opus Jazz Club would certainly not be opposed to hosting an organ trio concert.
  13. For posterity what turned out to be the issue?
  14. Yes there is. I don't remember how I found the new link but here it is: https://forums.musicplayer.com/forum/28-the-keyboard-corner.xml/ This is only for the Keyboard Corner subforum.
  15. I don't own one but have some experience with other Rolands. Here's some relevant lines from the Parameter Guide that might help you: For each zone, the RD-2000 lets you select either the internal MIDI sound generator (internal: red LED lit) or an external MIDI sound generator (external: green LED lit). For a zone whose INT/EXT select button is lit (green), playing the keyboard will transmit those MIDI messages from MIDI OUT. For a zone whose button is unlit, playing the keyboard will not transmit MIDI messages. Parameter Guide, start at page 18, "Using the RD-2000 as a Master Keyboard" You say you did your research, I hope this was useful, if not, sorry.
  16. On a pro level keyboard like the Fantom I believe the velocity sensitivity would be a little bit customizable.
  17. My Roland has a librarian app for PC. I have all my sounds for every single band or gig that I ever played saved to a file on my PC. When that gig comes up again I pull the patches back up at home.
  18. I believe those are the same SN EPs as heard in earlier FA or RD models. Never been a fan of them.
  19. Interestingly this is one of ELP's tracks that I never cared much for. There is no composition skills involved in this one as Moonglow has said, play the original as is, and jam in E. I can jam in E, but I could never write something like Tarkus or Trilogy, which is why those are the ones I love.
  20. The first piano sound demoed in the official video is not even SuperNATURAL but the same 2-layer sample as my FP-5 from 2002.
  21. Even if they do put out something in the affordable workstation range it will not be called that. Fantom 06 is too similar to both Fantom 6 and FA-06.
  22. I was very disappointed seeing them live at High Voltage festival, their last ever show. In addition to technical difficulties their playing and entire stage presence was really not what it used to be. I remember commenting about this on the live album release. I don't think I'm a troll. I did order the tribute concert DVD that came out recently. That is some next level stuff, amazing musicianship and a general joyfulness of music and community filling the stage at every moment. Y'all should see it. The vocals are all terribly autotuned though.
  23. For the bends, if you weren't playing Nords but some more programmable rompler, I'd suggest velocity switching between a straight note normally and a pitch bent note when you hit the key harder.
  24. I would love to hear sound examples of the mentioned patches to learn what VAST was already capable of back then. Edit: Found it. http://www.synthmania.com/Best of Analog.htm https://synthmania.com/2009/01/26/best-of-analog-andrew-schlesinger-new-age/
  25. Managed to dig out the link by 1. going to Google's cached version to figure out who posted it 2. going to their profile page and see all their topics.
