  1. PAIA STRINGZ & THINGZ!!! What memories THAT brought back. I built one from a kit while stationed in Japan in the Navy a few lifetimes ago. I had much more fun building it than I did trying to get useful musical sounds out of it. It actually worked - mostly - which was gratifying. But it made a few extra noises that PAIA never intended, and I gave it to a friend when I transferred back to the States. I hope he had some fun with it, or at least was more successful troubleshooting it than I was.
  2. This was posted on a local gear swap/sale FB page today. I asked what brand it is, and have received no reply. This seems more adjustable than most, and I've never seen anything quite like it. I am currently not in the market for a stand, but wondering what in the heck this is!
  3. Thanks for this - I hadn't realized it was such a Zombie Thread! Good sleuthing, and much appreciated.
  4. I read an interesting discussion several months ago regarding phaser pedals with keyboards. Donald Fagen and Richard Tee were discussed, as well as the pedals which contributed to their iconic sounds. Alas, my search-fu is failing me tonight - if that post still exists on the forum, I have been unable to locate it. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.
  5. Well, that didn't take as long as I thought!! A helpful fellow on this forum saw my Classified WTB ad and noticed we live in the same city. He has one to sell me. I love this community. Thank you all.
  6. I know some of you have bought gear from Thomann, and the posts have been overwhelmingly positive. I'm seriously considering taking the plunge, but given the state of well, everything, it feels like a bit more of a gamble than usual. Any encouragement or discouragement will be gratefully factored into my final decision. Also, while on the topic (yes, I posted to the classified ad section of this forum as well,) if any of you have a Spider-Pro stand you'd like to sell, please shoot me a message.
  7. Re-reading this thread, I saw that El Lobo had ordered the Hamilton stand and had planned to use it at a gig at the end of October. El Lobo - as it is now November, I am wondering if the stand arrived in time for the gig, and if so, what your impressions were of the stability and practicality of this stand?
  8. Thanks to all of you (and I apologize for the ALL CAPS HEADLINE. (Sheesh!) Good points made here, and although I sold a keyboard to Syntaur for parts years ago, it never occurred to me to to check there for a power supply for a new keyboard. This is a very helpful community, and yes, I miss the heck out of Radio Shack too.
  9. Greetings. I recently acquired a Korg Opsix. My tradition with all devices requiring a wall-wart is to buy a spare power supply, just in case. I actually started looking for the spare PS before my pre-ordered keyboard arrived, and couldn't find any info on the part number of the power supply. Thankfully, it's written on the box and the PS itself, which came with the unit. Once I had the part number, I searched Google and tried "Parts is Parts," and also Sweetwater (where I bought the keyboard.) They're doing what they can, but this isn't going to be simple or quick. I realize that very little is "business as usual" these days, but in addition to patience, is there anything else you could recommend? If there are any sources which have worked for any of you in similar situations, I'd appreciate hearing about them. (In case it helps, the part number is KA390V1)
  10. Hello! I am hoping that someone who actually has worked with the Krome EX or has some access to knowledgeable people at Korg, can verify whether or not the SD card issue has been resolved with the new EX. Regardless of whether or not I am still actively gigging, (I am not) I would hate to rely on faulty data storage on a workstation. Otherwise, this really looks like a good purchase for my needs.
  11. Thanks to all of you! I had a good talk with the fellow from Telesis, who was amazed to hear that replacement parts couldn't be found. The husband had a crack at disassembling the X50 to try to reseat the connectors - after about an hour and a half, he said "nope!" Too deep, too many chances to mess it up even further. Two emails with Syntaur later, my X50 was boxed up and headed to New Braunfels, TX, where it will have a second life as a parts source, and when they receive it, they will send me a check. There could have been far worse outcomes.
  12. Thanks to those who replied - I had never heard of Syntaur, and while they don't currently have a replacement LCD, they apparently buy "parts synths," which this one may have just become, so I shot them a note. And thanks to zukskywalker - hoping to reseat the LCD connectors before giving up on this thing. Agreed about the DC power input - I always expected that to be the first thing that would fail!
  13. The LCD panel on one of my X50s is starting to dim. Not dead yet, but I'm sure that's on the horizon. Yes, I've contacted Korg and spoken with the folks at "Parts Is Parts." Also the parts department at Full Compass. I've ventured into the shark-infested waters of Ebay, and contacted local repair shops. Zip. Yes, I bought a replacement keyboard from a friend today. But I'd still like to fix this beastie up if I can find a replacement part. Can any of you suggest any other possible sources?
