  1. I get a lot of compliments on the YC88 sounds from sound guys as well as musicians.
  2. Every time i have bought anything or any music tutorial I was always in for disappointment.
  3. One thing you guys are leaving out is substance abuse. Seeing that I was in tobacco control for 17 years I did a presentation once on singers that smoked. That's one thing left out. People like Sinatra would do vocal things to get around his range being lost. I saw him at 75, we still was good but not like he was in the 50's. Eddie Kendrix and Nat King Cole smoked a lot and it ruined their vocal ranges. Look at videos of them and they were not good later on. David Ruffin was the same. I saw it happen with a singer I worked with. Well Peter wanted to tour solo and still do the Chicago thing. The others were insecure about that and it led to a departure. The whole thing could have been worked out.
  4. Musicians play that's what we do. Accepting that is a big thing for a lot of people.
  5. I have an YC88 and SK Pro also and it's been one of the best, if not the best rigs I have ever had.
  6. Yamaha has never let me down really. I will still always be a fan and have one of their boards in my rig.
  7. That is strange if you zapped it but it can work. You might still need it rebuilt.
  8. Anytime you are playing anything Bill Powel, Nicky Hopkins, Billy Payne, Chuck Level, Roy Bittan etc. You kind of have to go for the style and then the feel. I would go as far as to say that you should listen to what they listened to. Bill Payne said he listened to a lot of New Orleans/ stride playing and loved Professor Longhair. He told me to go back to the source which I'd say 80% of keyboard players I know refuse to do. There is a reason these guys are monster players. Most often they had some kind of formal training or in some cases they were a freak of nature. They also didn't have a lot of technology which is probably a different argument.
  9. Forgot my mixer and could only play two boards when I needed three. Luckily a sax payer turned up to play the gig with us. I didn't have to play horn parts.
  10. I would add the band begins and ends with a good drummer. Especially for more styles based on rhythm. I ran a successful band for a lot of years and getting musicians and singers is the toughest part. Gigs are so easy to get. All you need is the right product.
  11. Apparently because the SK Pro 93 has a beveled edge it doesn't attach well.
  12. The kid in that video has good instincts.
  13. Jim I went and talked to my buddy at Sweetwater and apparently the single manual boards don't work well with the CU-1. There have been complaints about it.
  14. This is one of the best boards I have ever had and the PROS way out weigh the CONS.
  15. That is indicative of his career. Something the NFL asked him to do and plenty of groups have done it. Doesn't mean it defines their career.
  16. Passed in 2008. I have a blog written somewhere I gave his son. Bruce never really jumped the shark. His concerts are just as good if not better than any of his peers in that age group.
  17. Chucks fall from grace is even sadder. These guys were a power house. Three lead singers and a great backing band. I am surprised they used a 900 as you don't get the slower motor on the bottom drum.
  18. I have sold a ton of gear on every platform possible and haven't had that many problems. It's actually kind of easy once you do it a few times.
