  1. I considered getting one of the current M1 Macbooks, but memory and port limitations got me holding out for the mid/top-tier models. Looking for a laptop that will replace both my cMP and MBP.

  3. Timely thread. I've been looking for a top board with aftertouch and a pitch stick which pretty much means either the Kronos or Roland Fantom. The latter was my first pick but no more, so that leaves the Kronos. It ticks all boxes, but I'm not sure about forking out $3K for a ten year old instrument that may be replaced at NAMM 2022, and the used prices right now are insane.
  4. I have its predecessor PianoInBlue. A nice smoky, film noir kind of timbre, but uneven velocity response and weird lag made me not wanna play it. Also, blending the different mic positions would introduce some phasiness. Hopefully, CinePiano fixes all that.
  5. Redundant because it's already solved, but for me 'swipe' works perfectly for turning pages, much better than tap or whatever, and page transition set to 'slide'. Only two-finger swipes work, and accidental page turns are rare. Just my $0.02 YMMV etc. But i have a clip and mount, I don't use a wire music stand.
  6. I also have the 215"s and they sound fine, but I wanna get custom moulds because they get uncomfortable when I have them in for a long time.
  7. Yeah, I had hoped I'd finally have something that could truly replace my old Fantom X7. The aftertouch on that board is so effortless, and I miss that warm Roland sound, something I'm not getting from MODX or Krome. I doubt the FA replacement will have aftertouch? It seems the big three now all reserve that feature for their top of the line synths.
  8. Thanks, Allan. Definitely not what I wanted to hear, but good to know. Maybe Montage 7 will be a better fit, then, even if I prefer the stick over the wheels.
  9. Can anybody chime in on this? In particular about the aftertouch implementation? Thanks.
  10. I wrote and produced this song two years ago, and now the video is finally out. Prolly not what most folks here are into, but here goes: [video:youtube]
  11. Question for F6/7 users: I"ve seen some posts about the aftertouch implementation being subpar. Since that is one of the main reasons to get it for me, I"d like to hear your experience? Feel, effectiveness, assignability? Also how is the latest OS update?
  12. What VI's do you use? If you're running Kontakt piano/ep/clav/organ, sure, no prob. I have a 2015 13"MBP and it runs most stuff just fine, but some of the newer Keyscape/Omnisphere 2 patches will bring it to its knees. I find this is generally the case with newer VI's coming out. I'm looking to replace both my laptop and desktop, that's the reason I'm waiting for higher-spec MBP's.
  13. Does anybody here subscribe to F1TV Pro? I did in 2019 but the service was unusable, so I ditched it early last year when it was up for renewal. Wonder if the service and the app have improved at all? Currently paying $65 p/m for YoutubeTV and F1 is literally the only thing I use it for. With the tug-of-war between Roku and YoutubeTV it feels like I should check out F1TV Pro again, at $79.99 p/y it makes way more sense if they have ironed out the kinks. Thanks.
  14. We had 2015 Highlander XLE for five years. Agreeable car, nothing exciting. If you get one, be sure it's an AWD. We skimped on that thinking FWD would be fine, but the engine is too powerful for it. You have to feather the throttle from standstill or you'll get wheel spin, very annoying/unsettling.

  16. This is the second video from the session I did with my buddies in the Netherlands last December. I wrote this many years ago as a lullabye for my son. My touch is not as self-assured as I'd like it to be, but we captured the moment. The first video of that session is here. [video:youtube]
  17. I sold my MX88 when the MODX8 first came out. The latter is much more capable, but in some ways I found the MX88 more satisfying, not sure why.
  18. Two piano engines could be handy for blending acoustic and electric pianos, you know, that LA sound.
  19. Sweetwater says $3499 (88) and $3299 (73). Ouch... https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/NP5-88--nord-nord-piano-5-88-88-key-stage-piano https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/NP5-73--nord-nord-piano-5-73-key-stage-piano
  20. Thanks, D. I feel like that's a lot of coin for the 73, compared to -say- MODX7, and for $2400 it seems odd not to include aftertouch. But maybe it plays awesomely. Hope to get my hands on one soon.
  21. Can"t believe I missed this. Looks like a double-price Krome with a color display, fewer buttons, and no more wall wart. I hope the action plays better. Sweetwater still has this available for pre-order only. When is it expected to ship?
  22. Last year I was in The Netherlands for a few months and reconnected and recorded with old friends. I was a little insecure as I hadn't touched a piano since the lockdown and straightahead isn't really my wheelhouse, but over all I think it came out nice; we got a good vibe going. I've known the bassist since we were twelve, and the drummer since we were nineteen. Old friends indeed! [video:youtube]
