  1. Mine is on the way, should be here end of next week. I really hope I'm done exchanging boards after this. My carbon footprint on this alone is guaranteed to induce karmic debt of epic proportions. I don't even care it's the same action as the Fantom 0. If it has usable aftertouch and sounds like a Roland, I should be good.
  2. I'm not exactly an expert but I was told having it on two circuits can (or will) create ground loops, thus hum. Better to have everything coming from one source, provided you do not exceed max amperage of the socket/circuit/powerstrip.
  3. I remember I got my Fantom X7 back in '05 and I sprang for the 8-track audio recorder upgrade, making it a true all in one solution. Used that capability not even once all this time.
  4. Yeah, my posts go back only to 2008 or so. First three years are missing.
  5. I regret selling my HEDD Type 05's. I put them on Reverb just to see how much people were willing to bid, thinking they were not gonna jump on it since it's a relatively new and little known brand here. They sold for the asking price within days and I was obligated to honor the sale. Now I'm looking for a new set of primary nearfields (secondary being my old D5's). Thinking a pair of HEDD Type 07 Mk1's might do it, but only Alto sells B-stock and they're being a little weird about the price. Otherwise I'm looking at Genelec 8040B, or maybe PMC Result 6 (they're a bit big though). I don't mind DSP, but prefer an all-analog signal path. Any other recommendations in the <$3K/pair price range?
  6. That's happened to me a few times as well. Once I log in, it reverts back to English.
  7. Free is nice. I'm just trying to decide whether to buy a lifetime key or go for the subscription.
  8. I don't hate the plastic. Yes, it feels cheap, but in my experience it holds up well. Downside of the low weight is that keyboards don't sit as solidly on the stand. YMMV, but the it's not that uncommon for me to inadvertently push the Krome off balance when playing. Occasionally happens with the MODX8, too. The cheap feel is more in the action. An all plastic enclosure with an excellent action would probably feel a lot better. I've had the Fantom-07 here for two days now, and am not thrilled by the feel of the keys. It's just okay, nothing more.
  9. $1999 vs. $2799 The Juno X comes at an opportune time in my life; I'm planning to spend more time away from the US, and this somehow ticks a lot of boxes as a traveling companion. No wall wart? Check. Aftertouch? Check. Audio interface? Check. Speakers? Check. The last two things were never a factor for me, but now I can see how that comes in very handy when you are in a hotel room or AirBnB. Just a laptop and a Juno X, no need to bring an interface or speakers.
  10. While the criticisms are valid, another way to look at it is: all the same Roland goodness, with aftertouch, without the wall-wart (and XLR outs/speakers for who needs them). The Fantom-07 makes more sense for cover band gigs, but this appeals more to the artist in me.
  11. Yeah, but...aftertouch...on a Roland. That's like coming home for me. Gearnews says it'll have more than 4000 tones, so I think it's safe to assume their rompler stuff is in there.
  12. Oh FFS, I returned the Juno DS76 for a Fantom 07 which hasn’t even arrived yet, and now I’m gonna have to send that back for this? My Sweetwater rep is gonna hate me. I mean, it has aftertouch...
  13. I came across this on GS, anybody know about these? Looks nice, wonder if it's any good. https://www.donnerdeal.com/products/donner-ddp-80-88-key-full-weighted-wood-colored-grill-digital-piano
  14. Odd, but my brand new MBP refuses to provide power to USB-A devices. Tried this with two different USB-A devices (Aukey hub/Sabrent SSD enclosure, both USB 3.0) and three different USB-C>USB-A cables, no dice. An audio interface (Audient iD14) connected via USB-C>USB-B (USB2.0) powered up just fine. Anybody know what's going on here? Thanks. sys spec: 16" MBP | M1Max | 64GB | 4TB | Monterey 12.3.1
  15. I never stopped loving that sound, but always was afraid to admit it for scorn of the brethren here. There, I'm out of the closet. It feels so good to finally come out! I like the DX7 EP! I LOVE IT! All these years I've been living a lie with ever more realistic Rhodes emulations. But ashamed no more, I'm digital all the way. DX7 and MKS-20 forever, yeah! JD-800 Crystal Rhodes, yeah!
  16. So I just got a maxed out new MBP (M1Max|64GB|4TB) and trying to decide whether to buy lifetime keys for the XV5080 and maybe Zenology Pro, or go with the Ultimate subscription at $200 p/y? Any input is welcome! Good news is most of their stuff has been updated to work natively on Apple Silicon. Once Korg updates the Triton plugin to native AS, those two would make a solid live rig for flyaway gigs. There's something about rompler sounds that just cuts through better than most VI's. I also have Fantom 07 incoming which I understand can also host Cloud stuff onboard.
  17. I feel like you're cherry-picking your arguments here. Aside from FSD, Tesla has totally and irreversibly changed the automotive industry. And despite its shortcomings, Spacex has at the very least reignited the American public's interest in and (political) support for space exploration.
  18. Almost three months in and I'm still having a hard time unlearning to log in with my user name...sheer force of habit after 16+ years...
  19. I think there's so much overlap with the SV that it's hard to make a case for it. Same sounds, same action, same price, very similar UI... I play it at one of my churches, it's fine but nothing really stands out, IMO.
  20. Actually, I only played the DS76 for like 20 minutes, but it felt fine to me. I had to travel and it sat in the house untouched for seven weeks. I'm just glad Sweetwater was willing to exchange it.
  21. Absolutely nobody is gonna miss the keys on a Krome. Great sound, terrible action. That guy came out ahead. I exchanged my DS76 for the Fantom-07. Can't wait.
  22. I had the Deluxe for about a month, really wanted to love it as it ticked a lot of boxes for me. But in the end I didn't really connect with it, so I returned it.
