  1. Yes. My live rig in 1988 consisted of a KX76 into an MEP4 controlling D550 and Super Jupiter modules!
  2. This Kenton patch at looks promising https://kentonuk.com/interchanger/
  3. wow, never Hearn of network midi or rpt. Will have to investigate.
  4. I don’t always want to have to boot the daw, it would be nice to just run old school, with the matriarch being the master, the model:samples being the slave etc.
  5. Hi, I find running my own home studio a bit of a challenge and I'm sure many others do too. Maybe someone on here has solved this riddle. I would like to have things setup in such a way that I don't need to repatch MIDI cables when a new workflow situation arises. Ideally I should be able to connect any device to any other device if possible, and choose which device is clock master/slave. I'd like to be able to both send MIDI to my DAW but also run things without having to boot my DAW. Ironically I'm not a big fan of MIDI - I swear at times I can feel the lag in timing. I imagine I need some kind of MIDI patch bay with recall function? I have the following: Moog Matriarch ARP Odyssey module (crap MIDI implementation!) Elektron Model:Samples Yamaha CP Reface Yamaha CP4 Roland JX-8P with KIWI Mod Native Instruments S61 mk2 (probably should be connected via USB to take advantage of its features) I already have the MIDI ports on the back of my Focusrite 8Pre, and a MOTU Fastlane 2x2 Midi interface. Thanks in advance, Darren
  6. I love how in Good Times Roll the drummer opens the hi-hat to complement Greg Hawkes little synth riff.
  7. Are you the David Cohen who made the instructional videos a while back?
  8. The only question you need to ask is: “Am I too loud enough?”
  9. Hey Dave, your Latin treatment of Voyage is simply fabulous! Love it. You must have done a lot of salsa gigs and study to come up with that. Keep sharing more stuff please. where did you get that beat from? I guess Drum Genius has something similar these days. cheers Darren.
  10. Thanks Dave, that means a lot coming from you. I’m still trying to find ways to get more contrasting lines in the A section. I suspect I will be at it for a while!
  11. Hi all, Here's my first long-form educational video. I teach 2nd year Jazz Impro at Sydney Conservatorium of Music and here's some discussion, analysis and exercises to help intermediate improvisors get to grips with Kenny Barron's fabulous post-bop tune called "Voyage". I'm the first to admit it's a little 'dry' at times but feel free to use the chapter markers if you just want to jump to the exercises or my transcription of Kenny's solo for example. Cheers Darren
  12. You should read Dr Kevin Hunt’s PhD dissertation on the Stuart and Sons piano. He’s the chair of the Jazz Department at Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where I teach across 3 departments, including the jazz dept.
  13. Really? Didn’t get that impression. What part?
  14. Got to play it recently. Gawd! It’s a fabulous sounding beast and a real instrument. It’s Everything I lusted after in the 80s and I still can’t afford one! However I actually think it’s cheap for a top shelf instrument. One day I might just buy one…
  15. I’m late to this party - Dave did you end up disliking the CP4? I still love mine. Is the CP88 that much better? Keen to hear your thoughts and those of others who have owned both.
  16. Carla Thomas and Eddie Floyd - “It’s Our Time”
  17. That’s a shame, Dave. I’ve never heard the TT’s, but if they’re that Rolls Royce then it would be hard to go backwards. For me it would be like playing a Nord C1 after owning the MAG.
  18. I use Qobuz streaming. High fidelity and they pay artists the most. I still prefer CDs though.
  19. I’d be surprised if you didn’t like them Dave. Looking forward to your thoughts.
