  1. Yes! I found the model numbers 18822 Stacker 18824 Controller keyboard tray
  2. The have a nice tray option that sits over a second tier. I currently have a mixer and module on it, but it would double well as a music stand.
  3. I can’t watch that YouTube channel - those guys are way too annoying.
  4. Wow what an experience. Sounds like a ton of fun.
  5. Initially, music should be taught in a similar manner to speaking: imitating sounds we hear combined with our inmate desire to communicate. Instead we tend to put hyrogliphs (sheet music) in front of kids and wonder why they struggle with music. Not to mention wrestling with the strange interface of whichever instrument gets chosen for them. I always cite the example of people learning to play the tabla drums in India. If you want to learn to play that instrument, you have to be able to speak all of the traditional rhythms before they let you anywhere near those drums. To me that makes so much sense.
  6. Coincidentally I watched that just yesterday and was stoked to see an original OBX!
  7. …reaching for popcorn and beer here…
  8. Mining is the only way. All the transcription I did of Jimmy Smith for my creative component of my PhD paid off in spades! (See what I did there?!)
  9. I completely agree Mitch. Every now and then I subscribe to his Vimeo, but it’s mostly for inspiration. Joey was such a natural and as a result, analysis is not going to come along as part of that orientation. I am firstly certain he must have had perfect pitch. I also wonder how much very early exposure to his dad’s playing help - maybe even while he was still in his mother’s womb! He said he didn’t even learn his scales until he was in his 20s IIRC. But I also wish he’d break things down…! I find it amazing he could play so fast with a flat hand technique and such short fat fingers - the exact opposite of what is generally thought as desirable for a keyboardist. You and I should have an online hang sometime…
  10. The sound and especially the action fight me constantly. It’s a total bummer to play, so unmusical and the opposite of inspiring. The one I tried in the shop wasn’t like that. Lesson learnt. I’m trying to figure out how I could afford a brand new Yamaha YUS3.
  11. Evgeni, which digital Yamaha do you have? Do you recommend it? I regret buying my Kawai upright and need to get back to Yamaha.
  12. This goes as far back as their late 1980s sampler. I worked in a store at the time, and we sold 3 and all were returned as unfathomable. I love playing my CP4 but its UI is garbage and hurts your head to “get with it”. I remember when it was launched, their reps went to great lengths to tell us “there’s no such thing as a ‘factory preset’ in the CP4”. We all found out how wrong that was. I gave up trying to really understand it. It would be easier to figure out how they built the pyramids. Some parameters in the CP4 will display a value, but there’s no option to change it! Having said all that, any time I’ve moved away from Yamaha pianos (either acoustic or digital), I’ve regretted it big time. but yes, their staff should be sacked. Is the CP88 better in this regard?
  13. I don’t understand the mythic status of the Junos when compared to the JX series. Two oscillators vs one is a no-brainer. The only thing the JX doesn’t have is PWM but I believe KiWI and working on that…
  14. Buy a used JX8P and put the KIWI mod in it. It’s fabulous!
  15. Living in Australia, Keyboard Magazine was a window into a distant, magical world of Demi-god musicians and unattainable instruments. It was a Larry Goldings article that got me started playing jazz organ. Years later, I was Unsigned Artist of the Month in KM for my album of Hammond originals - something of which I’m very proud of. I miss KM and only have a bare understanding of why it died. Just yesterday I had forgotten how to patch the Kraftwerk “rise” sound on my Odyssey, but a quick trip to my library fixed that - KM saved the day. I would love to buy a digital copy of all the magazines if someone has the time and energy to scan them all.
  16. CD Baby are moving away from selling physical product to concentrate on being a digital aggregator. The still have ONE copy of my last album which unless I pay to ship it back here to Australia, will be thrown in the trash. Would be kinda cool if someone wanted it…I’m guessing there’s other forumites with the same issue. long live CDs!
  17. Yes, I need one too, so please let me know what you find?
  18. I can see James’ house boat, and his brothers house boat, from my house! Bwahahah! seriously though, he’s top next level genius and an Australian national treasure.
  19. I’m about the same when it comes to my gear. Very happy with most of it. I couldn’t care less about the latest clonewheel when I have a MAG.
  20. K & M makes a shelf for their stands. I have one it’s nice!
  21. One day I will buy myself an Oberheim, wether I need one or not! would love to hear from owners how they’re enjoying their OBX8…
  22. Obviously it's a little different being next to a roaring speaker...but it sounds faithful.
  23. I would say it’s a little bit lighter
