  1. Easiest way to calculate Spotify rates is take the minimum wage in your country and divided it by 1000000. I don"t use Spotify for this reason. I have a Qobuz account and they pay artists about 1 cent per stream, which is much higher.
  2. For many people, the Vintage Vibe tone misses the mark. If the new Rhodes manages to get that elusive sound, I"d say they have a winner on their hands. In terms of price, I"d expect it to be a similar price to a good upright piano. It"s pretty exciting eh? Hopefully their website will stand up to the traffic on Nov 1st.
  3. When you watch Dr Lonnie, here"s ALWAYS more music coming out than your eyes can account for.
  4. Oh no. I knew him well and there"s definitely no one like Lonnie.
  5. Yeah I flicked through his video. Don"t get me wrong, it sounds 'good', but I just went and listened to some more P5 demos and the basic tone is so much better. I think I will keep waiting for the OB (if it ever comes).
  6. I"m in the market for a polysynth and must admit the wait for the rumoured OB from Sequential is killing me. I"ve checked quite a few videos for the Take 5 and I"m trying REALLY hard to like it, but it just doesn"t seem to have that essential tone I hear on the P5/10. Is there something I"ve missed?
  7. The Retroaktiv MPG-8 is affordable and does the trick for the most part - the knobs are too small and close together, but it's better than nothing by a LONG way.
  8. Hi all, After 30-odd years of seller's remorse, I bought a Roland JX-8P and got the KIWI Technics upgrade professionally installed. It's simply fabulous! I've made a demo track to show off some of the new features the upgrade adds to the 8P, especially the analog feel and detune, faster envelopes and arpeggiator. Enjoy! [video:youtube]
  9. Hi Aynsley, I'm the Australian distributor for Viscount Legend organs, and have been playing Keyboards/Viscount for about 10 years now. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I'm familiar with MAG organs too, having played one on my European tour in 2019. Darren
  10. Thank you Bb! I"m playing the pedals mostly as percussion, sometimes called 'tapping' or 'thumping'. As long as you keep the note short, any note will do. Then I add some accents once in a while by playing a longer note, so its pitch is audible. This is all pretty traditional, back to Jimmy Smith.
  11. Here's my latest Jazz Organ Bites episode, performing the Charlie Parker tunes "Confirmation" and "Au Privave" [video:youtube]
  12. You can clearly hear the rhodes comping in the breakdown towards the end of the tune....I love the little RH/LH interplay on the Rhodes - who played that? Here's the right hand...like a lot of funk it has a distinct latin clave to it.
  13. Where do people get the separate tracks from do make this possible? I"d love to have the stems from Van Halen.
  14. The Viscount Pedals 18 is perfect - the notes you lose from the 24 notes version are mostly inaccessible as your right leg is in the way. I"ve had KeyB/Viscount set for 10 years and they"ve been rock solid. I wouldn"t/couldn"t deal with a smaller set, especially if it was spinet-style.
  15. I"d say go for it, but playing organ on a weighted action is a bummer of the highest order. If you can do it, then more power to you!
  16. Well Dorico is a fantastic product. After 20+ years of 'Finale Frustration' I"m happy to support Daniel and the programming crew. The support they offer via their forum is fabulous too.
  17. I"d like to see them pay a small royalty to whoever originally designed the synth, or owns the patent. Then I"d feel okay about buying one of their products. I don"t own any yet. Everyone I"ve played feels somewhat cheap and a little nasty.
  18. Definitely do (B) to the letter! Instead of plugging mics directly into your interface, consider getting a stage box/snake so the inputs are somewhere convenient.
  19. They use two different engines I think. Personally I wouldn"t ,worry about it. It would be like buying a Ferrari and want to put your old Toyota gear box in itâ¦
  20. Yes perhaps you"re right. I"ll do some more research.
  21. There"s nothing stiff about a Legend"s action. Out of the box, Nord Electro"s and Hammond SK2 are way stiffer. My Legend took about 5 gigs to get that played in feeling and it"s been consistent ever since.
  22. Yes I"ve done several searches but can"t find the one I heardâ¦
  23. Not yet. I did receive an email response from them recently that indicated the project was still alive though. We can live in hopeâ¦
