  1. I am getting SO tired of all the damn channels required to watch football these days. dB
  2. PIT/BUF moved to 1:30 pm Monday. I read an article yesterday that the Bills were calling for fans to come help them shovel the stadium and parking lot for $20/hr - bring yer own shovel, mind you 🤔 - from Saturday night through kickoff Sunday. I think this is a better call; plus, that makes it two games a day for the next three days. I’m digging it. REALLY glad not to be a Chiefs fan (or, even worse - Dolphins fan!! 😳) with tix for this evening’s temp record breaker. 🥶 dB
  3. Man, I hope you’re right about that. dB
  4. Agreed. Maybe he was just tired of the gig…? dB
  5. Not too happy with Sirianni’s decision to play AJ Brown today… …but, then again, it’d be surprising if the Eagles make it past the next round. 🤔😬 dB
  6. I will be at the show this year, covering it for MPN. It’ll be my first NAMM show not working for a manufacturer, so I’m looking forward to that. I think there are more than a few folks who have been holding on to the idea that having Winter NAMM return to its customary January slot will help boost the flagging attendance we’ve seen in the past few years. I’m not sure they’re correct about that. We’ll find out soon enough. If anyone has an instrument or other product they’d like for me to check out, please feel free to post it here. I’ll do my best to get to as much as I can. dB
  7. I don’t know if any of y’all have tried to watch Rebel Moon, but I couldn’t make it past the fifteen minute mark. Awful acting, dreadful dialog, boring derivative storyline, crap cinematography…definitely not my cuppa tea. dB
  8. "Most"? Can you quantify that? Give examples of which manufacturers to which you refer, please. My JP-X uses an internal power supply, that's a pretty new keyboard...so does my Kurzweil Forte, and my Arturia MatrixBrute - also fairly new instruments. Here's a question - why did synth pioneer/electrical engineer Dave Smith go from using a wall wart for his first few DSI instruments like the Poly Evolver to using IEC connectors on later instruments such as the Pro2? From my experience working with keyboard manufacturers, the main reason they use external power supplies/wall warts is to same development/production costs and time to market. I believe that internal power supplies mean the instrument itself has to pass UL and CE certification, whereas wall warts typically already have passed that certification for the instrument using it. Then you're lucky. Please do allow for the possibility that those of us who are grumbling about wall warts have actually had these experiences. Also, as mentioned in a post above, those flimsy cables on the wall warts do not exactly inspire confidence in the robustness of the product. The crap wall wart that came with the Hydrasynth always made me nervous when I had one, and was honestly one of the reasons I sold it. How do you know how old the folks posting on this thread are? 🤔 I don't even know what that means, brother. What year was that? Again, please give examples. Way more of the 80s era instruments I own/have owned have had IEC connectors. The last one I bought with a hardwired power cord is my MiniMoog. It seems to make you feel like your arguments are stronger if you belittle those with whom you do not agree. I'm guessing it may not be having the effect you want... Hi. My name's Dave. I founded the Keyboard Corner in the year 2000, so I feel like I kinda don't need to be reminded where we are. As far as I can tell, beside the lower production cost/time to market thing, the ease of replacing them is pretty much the only advantage they bring. Me, too. 👍 dB
  9. What does when you were born have to do with preferring internal power supplies over wall warts? 🤔 dB
  10. I had a bit of an ordeal trying to get my JP-X to work with USB. It required a driver install with an unusually detailed set of instructions on how to do the procedure (which included a computer restart), but installing said driver made my iMac not wanna boot. Seriously… I tried several times to get it to work. In the end, I gave up and just used the MIDI jacks. dB
  11. I was unclear - I used the keyboard version (K1000 SE). Sorry… dB
  12. Kurzweil Forte. Which program depends on the tune. dB
  13. I like to say that I have SHED Syndrome - Something Hurts Every Day. Musically, good year in the studio, not so good gig-wise. Part of me is bummed about the decrease in gigs, part of me is just fine with it. I did unexpectedly lose my main job a few months ago. Long stupid story there. Maybe time to change industries - can you do that in your 60s? dB
  14. Has to be my MiniMoog. Still the standard sonically to which I hold (most) other synthesizers. dB
  15. Merry Christmas to all y’all! 🎄🎊😎 dB
  16. What an excellent film! Bradley Cooper did a spectacular job on both sides of the camera, and Carey Mulligan delivered a performance for the ages. The music, of course, is nothing short of breathtaking - even the pieces they chose for the end credits… dB
  17. Good call. It’s been my favorite mic on my voice for VO for a long time. dB
  18. The R88 basically being two R84s is a fairly common misconception. I’ve grumbled at Wes Dooley over the fact that their marketing isn’t clearer on this point. The difference is that an R84’s front and back elements are intentionally offset, so they have a slightly different character. The R92 (smaller, more compact version of the R84) is the only other AEA product built like that. When I had an R84, I had a bunch of fun deciding which side to face towards my source and which to face towards the room/wall/piano harp, etc. The Blumlein design of the R88 means the front and back elements need to be symmetrical. Totally agreed. ☺️ Again, totally agreed. M160s are awesome. The only thing I would add is that ribbons tend to be more natural sounding than condensers…and can be less forgiving/harder to place in terms of finding the sound you want. dB
  19. It’s worth a lot! Thanks for sharing… 😎 Great tune! Makes me think a bit of Frank Zappa and the Guess Who. Killer groove…love the vocal harmonies. dB
