Keys: Korg Kronos 88, Roland Juipter-80

Monitors: Electro-Voice SXA250 2-Way Full-Range 15" Powered PA Speakers

Rack: Yamaha MV802 Stereo Mixer

Other Stuff: Neo Instruments Ventilator (original), On-Stage KS7365-EJ Pro Heavy-Duty Folding-Z Stand with 2nd Tier

The above picture is from one of my bands that runs in stereo, hence the MV802. My other, long-time band runs mono, so one less monitor to carry, and I place a 4-channel Stewart LM4M mixing board on the Kronos, similar to this thing:

I also have K-Sounds Epic Grand installed in the Kronos.

LOVE playing this rig, but the schlep factor is a PITLS (pain in the lumbar spine).

Good eye! I was wondering if anyone would notice that.

The band is called "Compass." Our lead singer, who is an excellent keyboard player, liked my Jupiter-80 so much he went out and got one! Perhaps somewhat surprisingly, he uses it a lot for piano. We do some songs where we both play (e.g., I Came for You, On the Loose, Take the Long Way Home). Fun band!

Here's my rig from yesterday's practice/arranging session with Ghost Community:

http://i.imgur.com/jUvWa66l.jpg

PC3K8 doing most of the work with the E4D on top for working in extra parts where needed. The PK-5 on the floor and the PAD-One on the far end of the Kurz are MIDI'd to the Kurzweil for Taurus and one-shot samples respectively ...Why yes, we are a prog band, how could you tell?

Once we've worked out all the arrangements I'll move everything into the Kurzweil so I'll run the gig off the one board plus the PAD-One for a nice easy setup. I've just been talking to the promoter and the band we're supporting in two weeks time have finally submitted their hire list: two 88s, a 61, a two-manual clonewheel and Voyager. I'm not sure where the rest of the band will be going on that stage, but I shall be very smug indeed.

As an aside, if there are any UK folk in need of a rehearsal space in Cardiff (particularly for pre-production work), I can heartily recommend Stir Studios, where this photo was taken. There are stairs up to it but outside of pro studio control rooms it's the nicest sounding room I've ever been in.

Here is the pop band rig. One thing I don't like is I mix the keys with my monitor send for my IEM feed with a Yamaha MG 06 that sits on the right side of the Kronos 2-88. The mixer works fine but it is a pain. It is a loose item I have to carry. I don't like the cable runs or the wall-wart. I want something I could rack and leave wired and won't have carry separately but will mean getting a bigger rack bag and more redco patch panel parts.

It is fine. It may be an adustment. There is one thing I do that may different. On Sustain pedals I put the ball of my foot on the housing and press the damper control with my heels. I always did this standing anyway. It is more comfortable for me standing up. Something like a Pedal Train would be more comfortable but I am more focused on tear down and setup speed.

Beautiful! That C2 has got to sound pretty awesome through the Yamahas! :)
Thanks Kenny It's coming together. I hadn't thought of putting the C2 through them, the Leslie is just sitting out of sight. I may try it. I pick up the sub tomorrow.

Hi Brian

It is a K&M 18950 I got from Thomman. http://produkte.k-m.de/en/Keyboard-stands/Keyboard-tables/18950-Table-style-keyboard-stand-black

Nice and solid. I am very happy with the K&M offerings, pricey but very good designs and build quality. Cheers Mike
