daBowsa won it.

Sorry, I forgot it's Sunday already. I meant "this week," not next week.

Other weeks I'm thinking of are Thanksgiving week and after college football season (when some NFL games are scheduled for Saturday). Of course, I fully expect to be eliminated well before then . . .

On weeks like next week (when there's a Thursday night game), when are the picks due?

All picks are due before the kickoff of the first game of the week...so, for example, this week all picks are due before Thursday @ 8:30 EST

Remember - if you don't get a pick in on time, you're out.

Sure.

If so, I'll take Detroit in the season opener.
Done.

Oh man. No one told me that Geoff had some kind of head injury in the offseason. That explains why he's taking the Lions over the team that is currently ranked #1 in the power rankings, who went to the Super Bowl last year, and so on.

Geoff, I hope you fully recuperate from this obvious blow to the deductive reasoning center of your brain. ;)

In the meatime... I will take the Carolina Panthers over the Atlanta Falcons in week one.

Each year, for the last seven (IIRC) straight years, the losers of the previous Super Bowl have lost their season openers. Then again, they usually open against stronger teams than Detroit.

For example, in 2005, Atlanta beat 2004 Super Bowl losers Philadelphia in the opening game. Green Bay beat Carolina the year before, and Oakland lost their season opener in 2003. I'm sure you get the idea.

But Detroit I don't know. That's why I reserve the right to change my mind before the season opening kickoff. ;)

Best,

Geoff

You know it wouldn't be football season if I wasn't talking smack, Geoff. If you do stick with Detroit and get a win with them, you're in great shape for having garnered a victory from a pretty weak team early in the year.

That having been said, like you pointed out, you have about 90 hours to change your mind, anyway. :)

No worries, Jeff. I knew where you were coming from. I also know why my choice might raise a few question marks.

My thoughts exactly.

Well, being from Florida, and one of those people that have never much liked the Steelers, plus Big Ben's out. I'll have to take Miami to start off.

Now everybody's got the blues."

I don't like week one -- none of it. All the heavy favorites seem to be on the road...except one. I'm spending a big gun in week one.

Mr. Bryce, if you would be so kind, give Magpel the New England Patriots in week one.
