You're tense about yer pick tonight? Can't understand why...I mean, it's not like you picked against the defending Super Bowl champ playing at home or anything...;)

Yeah, I know...no Big Ben, Daunte Culpepper's first game, etc. Juuuust teasing ya... :D

Me, tense? NAH (sound of fingernails being bitten off)

Granted, the Packers offensive line is the most inexperienced it's been in many years and the Bears defense is the strongest it's been in a long time; but there's magic at Lambeau field and Brett Favre still has a few remarkable games left in him. ;)

Also, games between rivalries are among the most unpredictable. I took Chicago in the pick 'em pool, but I wouldn't be shocked if Green Bay won.

Oh, and one more thing:

GO PACKERS!!! :thu:

Hey, do I get a prize for being the first to be eliminated?

I thought the Fish had a chance until the bad call on the long touchdown, and the coach not getting the ref's attention for the challenge. Sure, that would have given the Steelers the ball on the 1, and they probably would have scored, but that seems to take the fight out of the Fish. Then the two blaring mistakes by Culpepper resulting in interceptions.

All in all, a fair game, though a bit sloppy on both sides of the ball. I'll watch everyone else with interest to see who wins.

Sorry to trouble you, Big Dave, but I don't see my pick on the official list.

It definitely was at one point. Hmmmm...I must've copied over it when I added the last person. Sorry, Dan!

No worries - your on time pick was well documented.

It's been fixed.

... which is another good thing about doing this on a forum where everything is time stamped!

I've been in pools like this (excpet not Internet-based) where you had a lot of "I swear, I called him before kickoff! Check the time on the answering machine!" and so on.

Yeah, for awhile there, I was starting to regret having switched from Detroit to New England. Both games could have gone either way.

It's funny, a few days ago I was stopped at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Detroit waiting for the light to change. I looked up and saw a billboard that read, "This year, the odds are even." Even though the subject wasn't about the game, I decided to take it as a sign (double meaning intended) the billboard was planted right behind the Detroit street sign. Hello? :D

That's what you get for listening to someone other than yourself.:D

In all seriousness, I never even suggested that you pick Carolina. You told me you wanted to go with them, but were worried that you would regret that you didn't save them for later. All I did was tell you why I chose Cincinnati - because it doesn't make any diference who you save if you don't make it out of Week One, and if there was ever a time to use a top pick, Week One was it.

I stand by that point of view. I can't help that the team you chose as a top pick got beat (at home!)...I don't think anyone could've seen that one coming.

Anyone other than meccajay, that is. Of the 14 of us in the pick 'em pool, only he (correctly) picked Atlanta over Carolina.

Well done, meccajay! :thu:

steadyb, you can at least feel good that your favorite team won. Seattle is already off to a better start than the last seven losers of the Super Bowl had in the year after their big game.

Best,
