Thank you Lance. :)

Its cold here at the moment and it can look pretty dull but its ok.

The best thing about my bit of town is that we so much history surrounding what was known as Walthamstow Village and then it was Walthamstow Town and we even had E17 the band come from here (thats the post code btw)

We still have all the original buildings like Queen Elizabeth the 1sts hunting lodge, the old churchs that are pretty creepy and aswell as some really needed development near the market due to be finished in 2006 which will boast restaurants, leisure complex, a 2nd mall and the much needed night life! :D

Its a nice place really.

Wow, oh wow Greenboy!! I wish I had that up the street from me!!

Instead I have thousands of miles of stunning coastline...I'm more of a hiker than a sailor :thu:

Cheers!

I love coastline too. I've spent a lot of time camping hiking sailing or power yachting along Northern California and up past Vancouver Island. I've never been to your side, but I have always wanted to check it out. I'm always looking for movies filmed there and Novia Scotia and checking out National Geographic pictorals.

Here\'s from a 16-mile hike nearby.

EDIT: wow - jpeg mulching these type of detailed photos really hammers 'em bad. The originals are 2048x1536 (3+ megapixels) and killer Windows desktop replacement Directory Opus's viewer program automatically shrinks 'em to what will fit in correct aspect on my 1600x1200 screen.

Check out the Kevin Spacey flick "The Shipping News". It was shot about 2 hours drive outside St. John's. Spectacular coastline shots in that movie!

Cheers!

Yeah! Just saw that - great movie!
"Rare Birds" does a better job of capturing Newfoundland--to this foreigner, anyway! :thu:

And now, back to your previously-scheduled thread . . . :P

Home, for me, when i found it, gave me the feeling that i had come full circle (i was 30ish).

Life was ok, death was ok, my place in the universe was ok. I think there are many people in my life who are confused about where i live.

Truly i can only feel sad for them, that is how much i love it.

Now that i have found home, all I have to do is figure out constructive ways to spend my time and enjoy my life.

Knowing my home and being here is the most comforting and satisfying thing i know.

Having spoken with others on numerous occasions about the subject I feel incredibly lucky to have these feelings. :)

To paraphrase our Presient, hn he was asked about sovereignty:

uhhh, home is here you're at home. It's where you make your home.... it's where a stay-at-home Mom should be. :D

your feelings?

For me, home is many places. Home is where I can be myself without having to explain it, where I can help out without demanding to be compensated, where I can set an environment for others to relax and enjoy themselves.

Home is a day on the beach.

Home is the cats nestled in my lap, all three of us dozing on the couch.

Home is my current band, which is undemanding enough that we can enjoy challenging ourselves with difficult material.

Home is a long trip on my bicycle.

Home is an afternon's lunch in Ventimiglia, hearing & speaking snippets of five different languages over a plate of pasta.

Home is an hour's swim in the ocean.

I'm ashamed to say, but I haven't seen that movie, yet. :o . It IS on my short-list.....finding the time to sit still for a couple of hours is usually the problem.

Why thanks Booshy.

I love the NL as its so open minded and none of the stiff up lips Brits have.

I hope to take a trip out soon so hope to see you soon :)

Yeah, sad isn't it about E17 coming from here. I see that Brian Harvey all the time and once he tried to race his banger of a car with me at some traffic lights and when i turned the corner, he had rammed it into a wall...now that felt good i have to say! :D

So anyway I spent half of the last year traveling to other places, and it really made me appreciate my home, which is North Carolina.

I love this place more than I ever knew.

No matter where I go I'll always come back here.

and that's all I can say right now, because it breaks me up so much.

Tedster, wish I had more pics from a few years back. I got ripped off for almost everything I owned when I was closing on my current home. Had some great snowmobiling and backcountry skiing pics I took from around here.

Here's a thread with some more of my (and others') pics:

Eventually I'll just arrange this into some sort of a website with thumbnails.

Wewus, home is where you are most comfortable.

For many, many years (while travelling/moving extensively--internationally and within the US of A) home was in the house I was born in (and where my parents still live).

After marrying my wonderful wife Karen, Home is where she is/we are.

I like it just about everywhere. And I got ripped off for almost everything I had and no insurance covered (long story). So home is simply where I have a few things that I enjoy - a base for operations. IT could be in my van or from my backpack even - until I miss electric bass that is.

I could live about anywhere that I wouldn't be unduly persecuted and probably enjoy both the culture and the countryside, if my past travels are any indication.

You're My Home - Billy Joel (great version on Song In The Attic)

When you look into my eyes,

And you see the crazy gypsy in my soul.

It always comes as a surprise,

When I feel my withered roots begin to grow.

Well I never had a place that I could call my very own.

But that's alright my love, cause you're my home.

When you touch my weary head,

And you tell me everything's gonna be alright.

You say, "Use my body for your bed,

And my love will keep you warm throughout the night."

Well I'll never be a stranger and I'll never be alone.

Whereever we're together that's my home.

Home can be the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

Indiana's early mornin' too.

Oh... High up in the hills of Californ-ay.

Home is just another word for you....

Well I never had a place that I could call my very own,

That's alright my love, 'cause your my home

If I travel all my life,

and I never get to stop and settle down.

Long as I have you by my side, oh..

There's a roof above and good walls all around.

You're my castle you're my cabin and my instant pleasure dome,

I need you in my house, 'cause you're my home.

You're my Hoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooome.

It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman

And why, pray tell, would you be unduly persecuted? :D

Your place looks amazing... like where I used to backpack when I lived out west. But hey, if your travels ever bring you down South, hope you'll look me up.

Halljams, several years ago a popular career/life guide book called " What Color Is Your Parachute?". It advised that, if you wanna be happy, first pick the place you want to be. Then try and do what you'd like to do there.

Sounds like thats your approach.

(I do wonder how in the world you find clients up there.)

As for me Ive totally failed at this.

Im living nowhere near the ocean.
