Jose EB5AGV
As some of you probably know, I work daily fixing electronics, mostly radiofrequency gear, but also music gear from time to time. I document every work with plenty of pictures and sometimes even videos. Currently I am working on a Roland XP-50 and, just some days ago, worked on a couple AKAI EWI 5000. I have dozens of synths to work on (I use to buy items needing some care 😅) and, from time to time, a customer bring something to work on, as the Korg B1 I fixed over the last weekend. So I wonder: -Is this a subject of interest here? -If so, would opening a generic thread, let's say "Music gear repairs at EB5AGV Lab", be preferred to opening a thread for each repair? (I think so, to ease filtering) -Would it be better to just put some link to an external site, hosting those repair stories there? Please, let me know if there is any interest on this. I won't be offended if not, it is understandable some people are not technically inclined and this could be just noise on the Forum. Thanks for your comments! 🙏🏻 Jose 1

JoJoB3
With folks here such as Jim Alfredson (restoration/repair of all things old and new) I think it a great idea.

To one degree or another, I’m sure it is for most of us who own gear. 2 hours ago, Jose EB5AGV said: -If so, would opening a generic thread, let's say "Music gear repairs at EB5AGV Lab", be preferred to opening a thread for each repair? (I think so, to ease filtering) Yes, but it’d probably become inconvenient to search one thread for different cases, no? 2 hours ago, Jose EB5AGV said: -Would it be better to just put some link to an external site, hosting those repair stories there? You could do that…or, I could create a forum (or sub-forum) just for repairs and fix-it tips/tricks, if y’all would like. After all, we do have unlimited digital real estate. I’d probably suggest starting it as a sub-forum of KC. dB 7 Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
Jim Alfredson
It would be cool. Should be a separate subforum though to keep things tidy. 2 Quote Keep it greazy! B3tles - Soul Jazz THEO - Prog Rock

RABid
My inability to find a decent keyboard tech within 200 miles is why I never bought a vintage Rhodes Chroma. That and the outrageous price that everything goes for now. If nothing else, the forum would be handy to find reviews on repair shops. Quote This post edited for speling. Dave Bryce
Done! I gave it a pretty basic name, but I’m open to suggestions for a different one. dB 1 Quote ==> David Bryce Music • Funky Young Monks <==
Jose EB5AGV
Hello Dave, Great, I thought also on a sub-forum but refrained to ask for that 😅 It is better this way, to be able to open a thread with every different repair. I didn't want to clutter the main forum, and this is right on the spot for that. Wonderful!. Now we need to populate it. About the name, @K Ksuggestion, Repairs and mods could be a good one. Kathy Aarant
I hope that I am in the right spot! I have an Alesis DG8 that I absolutely love! Years ago I had to replace the circuit strip because some of the keys weren't playing. Now I believe that the left speaker needs replaced. The bass notes cause a rattle like you hear in a blown speaker. The thing is we cannot figure out how to remove the speaker! We have removed every screw we can and the speaker won't budge. Is it also glued in there as well? Any guidance you can give is appreciated!
