Larryz
Rest in Peace Leon Redbone. You died much too young at age 69 (my age too!). I have always enjoyed your music and have been working on Ain't Misbehaving for the last couple of weeks...my condolences to all of your friends and family. Fred_C
Always liked Leon's funky, ragtime finger picking and his voice was perfect for the material. RIP. Quote If you play cool, you are cool.

skipclone 1
He always seemed to exist in his own personal time zone. Truly a shame. RIP and thanks for the great music Mr. Redbone. Dannyalcatraz
I only ever experienced his (all too) rare broadcast TV performances. Loved every last second. Quote Sturgeon's 2nd Law, a.k.a. Caevan O’Shite
I only ever experienced his (all too) rare broadcast TV performances. Loved every last second. Same here; maybe occasional radio, as well. His performances and recordings always stood out as something a little special and classy. d halfnote
As mentioned elsewhere my time has grown increasingly stragulated (so sue me, Fred ! ) so I', only now posting to this. I once acyually met & had a brief conversation w/ LR. Happened back at time of his general breakthrough to fame, c.1977. Cincinnati chain-club Bogart's. Sitting w/friends waiting for LR to hit the stage, I went back to the bar for refreshed refreshments. There's LR quaffing one before he walked through the crowd to the stage ! Not to bug him, I just said, "Hey, Nice button !" [He was wearing what looked to be an authentic Teddy Roosevelt campaign button] He nodded as he left. After his set, he was sitting in the small bar area & I asked for an autograph. He took a bar napkin & carefully drew the name Leon Redbone [took abt 3 mins] & gave it to me. Then he was deluged by others, to whom each he gave a completely diff drawing of his name ! Genius ! Not only did he grant a personal totem to each of his fans but he completely stonewalled any potential resale value of his autograph !
