  1. Dicky Betts was one awesome guitarist, I agree. He was a little overshadowed by Duane Allman a bit, in the early Allman Brothers band, because Duane was also a great guitarist, Duane's style put him way out front of the rest of the players. The two guitarists left a huge legacy with their offspring who still play out a bunch. RIP Dicky Betts you were a really excellent player.
  2. Welcome back amigo. Glad to see you are still with us.👍
  3. The volume Commander pedal looks real useful for tone.
  4. I have some Behringer stuff. @surfergirl most of it works well. No frills but fairly dependable.
  5. Practice makes a good guitarist. Simple as that. Lots of practice makes a great guitarist.
  6. Glad to hear you are restarting the band back up surfergirl. I second Caev's suggestion about you filming the band & posting a video.
  7. Good luck picker, Both are made by Line 6 so there must be a way..... Best wishes.
  8. Yep @Larryz I think you are right.
  9. We are friends on Facebook also and no action there from Winston lately. He usually advertises his gigs on Facebook.
  10. They are well worth seeing.
  11. I was at a tribute show last night, a band from Western Canada called Eagle Eyes. Of course they did Eagles tunes. They did absolutely the best tribute to the Eagles material and better than any other tribute band that I have ever seen. The the guitar players were absolutely spectacular. The bass and drummer were spot on, the band rocked it. The vocals were great. The harmonies were awesome (I started my musical odyssey singing a-Capella doo wop with a group called the Soundmasters on Long Beach Island New Jersey so I am well versed in harmonies). The stunned me with their spot on vocals. I saw Joe Walsh do the Rocky Mountain Way with The James Gang in Bricktown NJ on their first national tour, The Eagle Eyes did that spot on also. The guitar player who played Walsh was excellent in the vocals as well as the guitar work as were the rest of them. I recommend the Eagle Eyes tribute band highly if they ever show up in your area. https://www.eagleeyestribute.rocks/
  12. @Caevan O’Shite Thanks I was always looking for that smooth overdrive with overtones and undertones. None of those guys you mentioned above were an influence on me, the only guitarists that I ever copied was a little early Clapton from the Creams Wheels of Fire album, And lots of early Roy Buchanan (whom I saw live on his first national tour). I am an improvisor. I learned how the scales work and how to fit them against the backing tracks, and from that point on I just let it flow out (improvising like that on original tunes has very little monetary value in the bar scene or in the recording process). Music is just a nice hobby for me. However one of these days I might try to play out, that is why I just got that second Super Champ X2, so I have a backup unit in case the first one breaks. The SCX2 is an amp I can use in small rooms. It has all the effects I use which is overdrive and reverb. One trip in, and one trip out, amp in one hand, guitar in the other. The SCX2's also have a line out which can go into bigger amps or a PA system for more volume than the SCX2 which are only 15 watts RMS. Anyways it is hard to sell improvised sets on original tunes to local venues unless I go out and play some venues for free, and if I get good results other venues might pay......
  13. Looks cool, I once had a Line 6 Pod XT. It was awesome sounding as a recording device. Here is the tune the last one I recorded with the Pod XT https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=5913545 I did this because a famous producer was complaining that many or most of my tunes, had the leads done in overdrive so I did a swap out between overdrive and clean to prove it was ok that I could do either clean or overdrive.
  14. @Caevan O’Shite The 6v6's have an extra Double Mica plate on the bottom of the tubes the 5751 are lower gain for a cleaner sound. ( I just talked to Eurotubes and ordered another set. The BIAS is OK at 52MV
  15. Call Eurotubes, I did not get the details except they sounded good. (503) 659-7401 They are in Oregon.
  16. @Caevan O’Shite I still have the tube dampers on my other SCX2, also I have a question in to Eurotubes about the BIAS setting. The newly acquired amp to me is definitely a bit punchier than the older one. The newly acquired amp is actually 12 years old but relatively unused, the one I have been using for about 4 years is a 2020 model, the newly acquired amp was built in 2012, but was relatively not used at all. I am however gonna get another set of JJ's for the 2020 model as well as a new Lil Buddy if the new tubes don't make that one punchier. I have both amps set in Fender Fuse to the exact same settings, so I am guessing the new tubes are different sounding because of the new improvements on the 6V6's and the one preamp tube a 12AX7 style Under Eurotubes name of 5157.
  17. I just did the re-tubing and replacing my newly acquired Super Champ X2 speaker and setting the BIAS on the amp. It sounds waaaaaay better than the one I have been using for the past 4 years. I followed the Eurotubes guy's offers to use some newer versions of the JJ Tubes that I have in the older SCX2. I no longer need tube damper rings because they put some new ideas into the power and preamp tubes. Also the Hemp cone Lil Buddy sounds awesome even before it is broken in (so to speak) (Looks like I may need a new set of JJ's for the older amp which now sits in my shed and will go unused except practice time on the days my wife is home at guitar practice time). Question for my friends on this forum in the BIAS setting. The instructions say to set the BIAS at more than 40 MV. I checked to setting and it is set at 52 MV so I left in like that. My older amp I set at 39.5 MV because I misread the instructions thinking I needed to set the older SCX2 at or near 40 MA
  18. Thanks amigo!! I will turn the bass on the amp up to full and no trebles then play the guitars bass notes on front pup. We shall see.
  19. He is playing all over the world and happily gigging since a month or so after the heart attack. I am a follower of his page on Facebook so I get daily notices of what he is up to.
  20. Received the Eminence hemp cone 10" Lil Buddy today. Tomorrow I put in the new JJ tubes BIAS the amp for the new tubes. Before inserting the amp back into the cabinet, I will install the new Lil Buddy. The break in will be long and tedious because I won't be able to push it hard with loud volumes. The last time I did this with the other amp that I have been using for the past 4 years, I let my nieces boyfriend perform with it for a long set at much higher volumes than I would be able to use in my community. He thanked me profusely for letting him use the amp, I told him he did me a favor as well, and thanked him for breaking the speaker in for me 😆 (one hand washes the other).
  21. I may have had a Gretsch guitar early on in my guitar playing odyssey (Mid 1960's). I was into Les Paul's at the time so the Gretsch did not sound like a Les Paul or SG, so I probably sold it without appreciating it's unique qualities. I was heavily into Chet Atkins and other country pickers, that is probably why I tried the Gretsch. Oh well we live and learn.........
  22. Yep it makes the lick sound more human to have those bends and slides. I use slides and band quite a lot, never lifting my fingers off the strings unless I am doing full chords on the clean channel.
