The $20,000.00 Question.

Interesting question.

I'd probably spend a large chunk of it doing some remodeling to my house. A bit would probably go into the studio (a couple new mics and preamps, maybe a couple of Distressors or a Fatso... oops, there goes the whole $20K... :D ), and of course, I'd want to selectively give some to a worthy charity.

Okay, okay, maybe just one mic (probably the new Soundelux E49 or maybe the E47), three preamps (probably the OSA API clones) and the Fatso... that's a good seven grand. Give ten grand to the wife towards the home improvement projects we're getting ready to begin, and then give the other three grand away.

Figuring out ways to SPEND the money has never been that difficult... it's the making money part that's hard. ;)

If you gave me a... Double King Grand I would figure you had more hidden somewhere so I would kidnap you, and torture you until you told me where the rest of it was. I really don't want to hurt you or your family, this is just a business matter. I'm going to send you a deposit slip and if that money is available by next week, and...I mean the whole amount, then we're cool.

What about you, chief?
Why hit the dog tracks, of course! I got me a good feelin about the 3 race... :thu:

It's interesting that maybe only one person here would use it for investment purposes.

Phil,

the home improvement idea is also something I would give a lot of consideration to. I live in -what I would consider anyway- a pretty decent place. But the old girl needs some work! I guess spending on your house is a form of investing... However, it only counts if you sell the house.

Techristian,

Paying off the cards, is also something I would definitely do. From now on, it's gas and grocerys on my card and that's all... Pay it off every month!!! I'm even thinking about a Music Player card for that purpose -if they have some cool designs.

I wouldn't purchase ANY technology, because it just loses it's value too quickly.

And ten percent would go to a cause that I believe in. Not easy to give that up, but maybe that's a good reason to do it...

Okay, who else???

I'm surprised this thread hasn't generated more responses.

Not necessarily. I'd spend the money on setting my place up to be energy independent. No utility bills ever again is a good investment!

I'd also do it in such a way that it could be a blueprint for other homeowners to follow suit - give seminars and tours and such.

Buying a pool this year, would love to have a nice deck around it. Maybe some landscaping too.

Wouldn't mind a big Plasma HDTV.

A new Guitar for me, a shopping spree for the Wife.

A really cool Swing set/Play thing for the kids.

Need new tires on my car.

My computer is obsolete(again).

Maybe a vacation.

Could always use money in the bank!

Any chance you could make that $40k? :)

It's times like this that socialism looks kinda useful :)

Forcing health care entities into the non-profit sector would be much less dangerous. :)

Now that is very smart. This winter I probably dropped $1500.00 into the hands of the utility companies.

I drop at LEAST that much every two months in the summertime on utilities.

Energy independence would be a wonderful thing. :thu:
