burningbusch
Anyone going to NAMM needs to check out this amazing looking (and sounding) keyboard. It will likely be your only chance. http://i2.wp.com/www.synthtopia.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/wheelharp.jpg Synthtopia Article Busch.
stillplaying
I thought it was an antique until I read the article. "Steam Punk." Absolutely. Like a giant pencil sharpener that makes a mighty throng. I like it. Very much. If I was a bonkers rich multi-squillionaire I'd be putting my order in now. Thanks for posting. GovernorSilver
Love the look and the sound. Makes me wish I could go to NAMM, just to see/hear it.
PinkFloydDudi
That thing looks sweet! Pricing (Linear Model or Radial Model): ■5-octave range: $11,900 ■4-octave range: $10,900 ■3-octave range: $9,900 Ouch... Here's to hoping we can get a nice sample set from it =)
resigned
If you look on their website you'll see an unfinished piano-style keyboard model as well. Great concept: as keys are pressed it causes violin strings to come into contact with a rotating wheel with rosen on it. I wish them luck - the sound of the instrument is haunting and has movie soundtrack potential.
mate stubb
Isn't this a hurdy gurdy? Michael Wright
I don't know what the guys would say if I rolled in with that. But I like the sound!
GovernorSilver
Isn't this a hurdy gurdy? I suppose that's one way of looking at it, although I've never seen a hurdy gurdy with a damper pedal before, or a 2nd pedal to vary the motor speed so that both hands are free to play the keyboard. bourniplus
Too bad the only demo available is pretty basic and only uses the two lowest octaves... I hope someone at NAMM can shoot a more extensive video. "Show me all the blueprints. I'm serious now, show me all the blueprints." Stephen Fortner
I got some good hands-on time with it at NAMM, and it's pretty cool. Definitely a niche instrument, but the circular model is surprisingly playable. You said you wanted a video? KenElevenShadows
I played it and loved it. It's "touch sensitive". Quite so. You need to have a light touch or you bend the strings too much, creating a sound that can get people seasick in no time!! Really really great. http://www.elevenshadows.com/sss/namm2013/images/namm2013_54wheelharp.jpg NAMMbulating 2013: photos and text from NAMM 2013.
