Griffinator
Indeed. The best part of Purple is now gone. A bunch of loud, obnoxious music I USED to make with friends.

GuitarPlayerFL
My favorite rock keyboardist EVER from my favorite band EVER. Sorry John Lennon....this sucks more than you ever meant to me. Fumblyfingers
This sucks! I just opened the computer after a day of running around.....not the news I wanted to start off with. I was just thinking about him yesterday and some of his riffs I really liked. Dammit!!! I gotta go read up what happened etc. I just took off the White Album and put on Machine Head and it's CRANKING!!!!!!! RIP friend.....thanks for the many awesome fucking moments you and the band gave a young South African kid coming up and feeling his oats. Good timing mate. It all went down at just the right moment for me. Today's kids....pah! They ain't got it going on like we did, like you guys gave us.
Caevan O’Shite
Damn! So, Jon Lord has passed on to louder pastures... Well, they're louder now! RIP, Jon... antimatter
Quite possibly the most talented Rock band I ever saw live was DP. Jon Lord was amazing, to geez, anyone. It sucks. The tier up from me is dying. It just sucks. And bite me cancer.
picker
You rocked, man. R.I.P. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
whitefang
Until he came along, most players had NO IDEA you could do such things with an organ! RIP Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
Winston Psmith
Jon Lord's organ playing had everything you could ask from a Rock instrument - grandeur, drama, and power! R.I.P., sir, and thank you. skipclone 1
Man, this kind of thing always knocks all the posturing I hear about `another phase of life` right into the trash bin. No it`s not `another phase` of anything. It`s the end of an absolutely massive music person. DP was my soundtrack in so many moments. What a shame. Strategery
The absolute best keyboardist out there...no offense to others. Spent yesterday seeking out so many vids and anything on Jon. WOW...what a musician. Thoughts and prayers out to all family, friends and fans. Randy "Just play!"
Delta
Lousy news. There were a lot of great keyboard players in the 70s and he was definitely one of the best. "Let me stand next to your fire!", Jimi Hendrix
James Gonzales
This really bummed me out when I heard this. Jon Lord made playing the keys so cool to me. Most key players are usually so much in the background... I always felt like Jon Lord was just as much the sound and stage presence as Blackmore. desertbluesman
I was amazed at his musical acumen, last time I saw Purple with Steve Morse in the lineup. He must have been another alien, more gifted that the rest of us commoners. Great player, RIP Big J you done good. dbm If it sounds good, it is good !! http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=143231&content=music
