RipperTronic
If you own a Moog Voyager or you were to buy one, what is your favorite finish/backlight combination? danimuschi
I don't really like Whitewash Ash and Maple. Other than that I don't really care... I own the Mahogany / Fire model... Beautiful, but at the end of the day no one can hear if you moog is white or brown, so why bother? ;-)
RipperTronic
I like the the Mahogany / Fire as well: did you order it on purpose or just because you found it available in stock in some shop? Also is the red backlight any eye-tiring?
orangefunk
I have the Fire too.. but its darker than the Mahogany shown here... Love the look of it!

Also is the red backlight any eye-tiring? It was the only one available at the time I wanted to get one... I'm glad I didn't have to make that decision... GDP
Fire/Mahogany.....purchased new. I was concerned that the lighter backlighting (lunar/solar)would be too bright. The pitch/Mod wheels are always on and not affected by the dimmer so it could be distracting.
The Real MC
I have the SE in walnut. That brass badge compliments it nicely. http://www.retrosynth.com/~analoguediehard/studio/keyboards/moog_voyager/moog_voyager1.jpg
Tonysounds
I have the Fire Mahogany. It looks BadA$$! I like the Electric Blue (RedKey has one), and I think the purple is pretty trick as well. Hitting "Play" does NOT constitute live performance. -Me. RipperTronic
Great photos, thanks a lot. I've also seen a YouTube video about Novamusik's custom versions with matching switches and jack sockets colors. But these seem to be available only through them. Interestingly they have a custom version where the wheels were blinking in sync with the LFO: is that a standard feature?

GDP
Ripper, the blinking wheels is a mod that any select or blue can have.....it is a mod that the factory must do though....they put an on/off switch inside the unit to defeat it if it becomes a distraction (it would drive me nuts). Also, I don't care for all the matching nuts on the back panel, the inputs are not all the same so color coding (at least 2) is helpful.

RipperTronic
While we are at it let me also ask: that Retune/Recalibrate option being offered through the Moog website as a Factory Mod, well - assuming you buy a new Voyager right now, by when do you think you'll need that? Also, is it possible to load a new OS version through Sysex dump or (again) you need to go through a Factory Mod?
The Real MC
OS can be dumped via sysex
Meisenhower
My first Voyager was an Electric Blue (which I sold) and I thought it looked amazing. My second Voyager is also an Electric Blue, but had I factory ordered, I would have gotten a Mahogany/Solar or maybe Walnut/Jade. RipperTronic
Only thing I'd need to get used in the Fire models is that pinkish color of the front panel when the unit is switched off or dimmed.

GDP
Only thing I'd need to get used in the Fire models is that pinkish color of the front panel when the unit is switched off or dimmed. If you think the backlighting is unnecessary for your needs you can save some money by going with the Performer Edition. I almost wish they never offered the color options because I went nuts making a decision as well. But, whatever the backlighting you do get, I'll tell you this....the mahogany cabinet is one beautiful piece of work!

RABid
When asked which looks best you better answer the one you are married to. Another Mahogany / Fire here, though I sometimes wonder what it would be like to play with something in blue. This post edited for speling.
