  1. No love for George Jones and Tammy Wynette singing "Golden ring"? Maybe Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks - "Buckingham Nicks", recorded with the A-team: Jim Keltner, Waddy Wachtel, Dick Hallagan, etc. [video:youtube]
  2. Yes, I assume that beat too. Until it gets to the bridge where it seems like the time slips half a beat. The only way I can follow it all the way across the bridge is to assume that the beat you refer to as ONE is actually the and of FOUR. Then the horns popping the high F and Eb are really on TWO and THREE.
  3. I give up on James Brown's "I Got the Feelin'". As many times as I've heard it, probably in the hundreds, I'm still not sure where the one is supposed to be. [video:youtube]
  4. We are all muggles in some way. Even in those things we think we are not.
  5. One twenty footer and a backup for keys to rack, two shorty jumpers in the rack.
  6. Quick update: I bought the X32 Rack and built the Banana Tracker to record up to 32 tracks. All works well so far.
  7. I also have one of those switches on my A100 chop that has a center off position (works with EIS relays). I don't see it available in the current Trek II product listing either. I have added a foot switch control. It's nice to be able to have both methods available.
  8. Kick switch here. That's the Sidekick switch bracket Bob Schleicher developed. I have installed a few of the switch brackets. However I use a Carling 16-P3OFF-4 switch because it has a low actuation pressure (4 oz to 1 lb). I also use it in a generic two-button pedal used to control a Ventilator and in the single button foot switch for the Leslie I am using currently.
  9. Powder coating is probably expensive, though the number of color selections and textures are numerous and appealing. I'd probably go with paint. You certainly shot a nice finish on it.
  10. Here is something I made in 2012 (?) to allow switching with both kick switch and hand switch. I sent a few out for free, never advertised them and never sold any. I have put them in a couple of local pro player's Hammonds, and in mine of course. This one uses a momentary kick switch to get slow/fast and stop. The "Sidekick" name came from Bob Schleicher. Sidekick Tremolo Controller.
  11. Well implemented shielding won't hurt, but it's a question of whether the susceptibility is due to conducted or radiated emission. I suspect conducted. If so, foil or other shielding will have little effect. If it is radiated then you should be able to hear a change in the interference by moving components around.
  12. Here's another. Joey DeFrancesco with the Free Sprits playing Limehouse Blues [video:youtube]
  13. Any recommendations? Not fantastic performances of classics, like Eldar does "Tiger Rag", or someone who well-plays Chopin. Rather, an improvisation - perhaps a little over the top? I'll start. Tony Perez with Iba A Se [video:youtube]
  14. I just got a Behringer X32 Rack, an SKB 4U shallow roto-molded rack to house it, and have put together a Banana Tracker to record the inputs direct to SSD. For all of you in the U.S., Thomann Music has great prices on Behringer gear.
  15. This is Aretha, I think from the '71 Grammys. It is interesting that the overlaid video is shot across the Hammond so we get to see the action. I was told by someone that the pinky ring was a clue that it was Billy Preston on the B3, though I have nothing other that that. Whether or not, it was a masterful performance of just the things discussed here earlier. Drawbar selection, expression pedal and note choice to complement the song. 16. IME trouble shooting "on the gig" has rarely succeeded unless it is something really simple, like something unplugged. Though under the pressure of a start time, even those have eluded me because - Why check it? I am sure I plugged everything in correctly! Going in to the club (or church) on a Saturday afternoon to go slowly through things has worked best for me.
  17. Does the CX-3 use natural or equally tempered tuning for the odd drawbar harmonics? AFAIK all the early clonewheels used natural harmonics. I suspect the 1st gen CX-3 ('79-'91) used natural tuning and the 2nd gen ('01-'11) used the approximated equal tempered tuning such as all modern clonewheels (and the electro-mechanical Hammonds) do.
  18. Unexpected family deaths are stunning, shocking and paralyzing. It is as if your progression through life has abruptly taken a different fork in the road. You are now on a new and unwanted path. I have empathy and sympathy for the family.
  19. I prefer the dark, probably from years of sitting in a dark office writing code with dark monitor themes. I find dark backgrounds better than light to display colored text, something very common with code editors that colorized certain code elements. In emacs, the default font-lock theme was called "angry fruit salad". It has lots of strong colors. Of course, these were often customized. I like dark themes so much I even wrote my own (see sig)! All the colors are css variables so it should be reasonably easy to modify it or turn it into a light theme.
  20. The style UBBT70_Dark does not show many images (emojis and the like). Perhaps it is the directory reference "default_dark". I checked some other styles that show the images. They use "default'. UBBT70 - Light ... UBBT70 - Dark ...
  21. Same here. I did a number of tests using preview. No joy.
  22. The problem has been resolved. Sweetwater replaced the demo unit with a new unit. I offered to pay the difference between the demo and the new. Sweetwater said no. The technical support staff even went so far as to test a new unit from stock before sending to me. There was quite a bit of personal attention to the problem by the Sweetwater staff.
  23. Base on comments here, along with the others mentioned, I am now studying both the QU-SB and the Soundcraft Ui24R headless mixers. Geesh.
  24. I see. While many things can be selected to be recorded, there is a limitation in the number. I found this tracker project using a Banana Pi M1 to capture tracks from an XR18, X32 or M32. Control of it is via an android device. AFAIK the M1 does not have built-in WiFi, so a little confused there how it is supposed to work. External WiFi dongle maybe. The M1+ does have built-in WiFi.
  25. Great comments. Thanks for that. Comparing the XR18 and L-20R, the XR18 is looking better for my situation. However, I'm a little confused about your comment I quoted regarding more outputs. I don't see two stereo pairs of line inputs, rather one pair of mono TRS line inputs. What am I not seeing here... As it turns out, I have an iPad Air (128GB). I was looking at some apps to use for tracking, Auria, MultitrackStudio, some others. Would it be possible to use the iPad to do both functions, control and recording simultaneously? The USB recording bandwidth looks to be about 2.6 MB/sec for 18 channels.
