  1. IK Multimedia UNO Synth Pro, analog paraphonic synth. https://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/unosynthpro/index.php?p=info Got a good deal on Amazon: € 412 incl. shipping (it's €610 on IK Multimedia website) Just played a little yesterday night: I like the sound, very enjoyable the keybed (thanks God it has aftertouch!!!). Heavy and sturdy aluminum case. 5 pin MIDI plugs. Very easy to tweak despite the controls matrix (and I'm really not a synth guy). I still haven't tried the arpeggiator... Looks like a great synth with quite a number of hidden gems...
  2. A few pictures of my "theatrical" gig, taken during the setup (sorry for the mess 😉 ). Galanti accordion through Voicelive Play + Roland FA-07. I use a lot the "sample playback" feature of the FA-07 since it's a narrative-type performance, where an actor dramatize the last months of WWII in Italy and besides playing I have to we "playback" radio recordings of that time: Radio London, Allied Army's communications, official announcement from the government, etc. Very streamlined but flexible rig, in my opinion.
  3. I started using a power strip with surge protection (little more than 20€ on Amazon) precisely to avoid these specific problems... https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B08GWHDTBD/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1 But now, reading your story, I'm wondering if it's enough... what do you think?
  4. I've got a pair of ILoud Micro some months ago. Very impressive the punch and presence for their size. Pretty configurable the frequency response. I'm quite happy
  5. Another vote for the XR-18: very versatile (you can use it for others gigs too, recall it's configuration on the fly... ) sturdy (it made for gig use, and you con put it in a rack case too) efx included can be useful
  6. I'm not so sure... My fear is that, with a separate sub forum, we ends up having to follow two sub forum for discussions, or questions, etc.. about the new product. In the end some users will reply to the manufacture's press release (in the sub forum), others will post here. It will be a mess. And not only in the immediate days/weeks after the product release: even in the future, when someone will post about that product, someone will go to the "press release" sub forum thread, others here. I'll prefer the way it's now (without "official" posts from manufacturer), as second option I'll open the main forum to manufacturer or (yes, second option ex-aequo) I'll make a manufacturer sub-forum without the possibility for anyone to reply, just allow the manufacturer to post the announcement, so to keep all discussion, user-review, etc here in the main forum. Stefano
  7. I'm in Carpi (Modena). Emilia-Romagna / Bologna region. Italy. Just to help you locate my small (70000 people) town: we are in the Italian "motor valley": within 25km we have Ferrari factory, Lamborghini, Maserati. Here in Modena born, raised and lived the tenor Luciano Pavarotti.
  8. Hallo Dan, I found the sketch (I never published it...) and I posted it here: https://github.com/garubi/D9U-for-FA/ Consider that I haven't touched it since 2018 and never really tested it with the Crumar D9 (I built a similar device on my own and on it it runs fine). I remember that I simply added/replaced the SysEx code for the FA in the original sketch by Crumar, so following they directions on including libraries etc you should be able to compile it. I ask you and others who will try the sketch, to post feedback, issues, etc: I'll love to have the script tested and working (maybe the right place for the feedback is the Github project issues page)
  9. I agree. It's very important. We always send our channels list + on-stage positioning (I'm sorry I don't remember how do you name it in US or UK) when we have a third party sound company. ...and when possible... give them a phone call to be sure they have read it 😬 (and understood 😉).
  10. I totally agree. They have to provide anything needed between your rig and the PA. That said, I always bring with me a decent stereo DI box because "you never know..." (as I bring a lot of others "save the gig" amenities...)
  11. Yes, sounds awesome! They states that it's the same engine (modeled, not sampled) that is inside the Gemini
  12. Just seen on Facebook: a new wavetabe expansion for the Gemini. From the GSI site: https://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=page&p=VeniceUprightK8 In an Italian forum Guido says that it's sampled with 4 mics and that it's the same included in the "Genuine Sounds Vol. 1" software they released a few days ago. I'll try it tonight. If it is at the level of the latest piano sampleset it would be a great addition! I'm always impressed by the level of (free) support that GSI and Crumar give to their products even after years they released them.
  13. 🤣 Well... ehm.. in part is also because, for an average band gig (not piano solo of course) the quality of sound available in almost all keyboard today is at least "passable"... (it's ok as an excuse? fifty-years-old-with-hernia here speaking 😂)
  14. I'd add to the list the Crumar Seven or the new Seventheen
  15. We are gigging with XR-18 since 2018 and we never had a single problem. I remember when we bought it we feared the wi-fi connection because so many posts mentioned it, but we really never had a single problem with it. Probably because, thanks to its "stage box" form factor, we keep it on the stage or near it. I also have to say that the IPad app is better from an usability point of vview, than the Android one (but we use the Android one, so it's definitively usable and reliable). Speaking of apps, each of us uses the XAirQ app that's specifically made to control one aux send: so we can control our monitor levels in real time during the show. I never used the other mixers that you mention, but this for sure is great bang for bucks
  16. We lost Marco, our bassist/cofounder/cowriter twenty years ago, after ten years of recording, touring, writing songs, sharing life together, due to a cancer. His lost was totally devastating. We tried to continue performing but after some moths we stopped, we couldn't find the sense of playing without Marco. We never officially splitted or "closed" the band, but we went in a sort of limbo. We only played together at some "in memoriam" concerts that we and our label organized for him one year after his loss, then 10 years after. It was hard for us even meet each other occasionally for a beer... But then, seven years ago, we started thinking that the best way to remember him and his great talent wasto play his songs again in front of an audience, to let new people know his work and let the old "fans" rejoin around the band in memory of Marco. So we slowly restarted playing in public, writing new songs, etc... We had a song that we wrote for him shortly after his dead, "Senza paura" (Italian for "without fear") that we never played in public nor recorded. Now we play this song at every gig: it's our way to feel that Marco is with us on the stage. We recorded a new album too: that's named after that song. So my advice is: let settle down the things for a while but then don't stop playing: do it for your friend and for his lovo for the music!
  17. In the video (I'm italian...) they say that it only has the E. Piano modeled, the others sounds are sampled from real instruments using their new samplig robot (you can find mentions of it in other threads here when they released the new AP samplings). I think this is the major difference from the Seven (in addition to the weight difference, due to the fact that the Seventeen doesn't have the cover and the aluminum legs are optional). The keybed will be the same of the Seven
  18. Product page and specifications are in English. https://www.crumar.it/?a=showproduct&b=42
  19. I'd go with the FA-06. You will find all your XP pcm sound in it or loadable from the Axial site, plus a solid selection of new Supernatural sounds. In my rig it is now the bread-and-butter do-it-all piece of gear. I "was coming" from an XP-80, and having the FA a similar patches structure and all the legacy PCM Roland sounds already on board I was able to be productive in a few hours. I was already "at home". The action isn't so bad, but of course for acoustic pianos (in particular for piano solos) isn't adeguate at all (but neither that of XP-30 was...) I now replaced the FA-06 with the FA-07, because the extra octave allows me to go single board on some gigs, and because the action in quite better. Yes better, but unfortunately nothing comparable to the action of the "old" Roland flagships like XP-80
  20. Have you tried to lower the value of the "Noises" slider? I think it controls the level of variuos mechanical noises: the relay switches end so on. Not sure if it influences the hum too
  21. Hallo, we, as band, are writing and releasing original songs since 1998, with the usual stop-and-go due to life, families, etc... During our "history" we experienced publishing our music with indie labels and on our own, and now we are releasing all our music via Bandcamp and we are really appreciating the freedom (and speed) of self-publishing and the stronger relations that we can establish with the people who buy our music. We are now willing to offer to our "fan base" a subscription on Patreon that allow them to sustain our activity as a band and give them exclusive content (we have a ton of unreleased recordings, demotape, live shootage). I'm wondering if someone on the forum has an established Patreon presence and if he can share comments on this, suggestions, etc... Thank you Stefano
  22. Yep, Dan's on the money here. I'm posting covers all the time - just did one today - and the artist in question simply puts a copyright claim on the video, which means it's impossible for our band to monetise the video (but the original artist can). Not all original artists are this easy going. For my personal experience this is what could happen. Stefano
