  1. need some advice here.  I wrote before about me getting the access virus ti2.  presently I have ten synths, boards and modules, and plenty of plug-ins.   I know I don't need more but I have the disease.  everyone said I have enough, and work with I have.  I have owned many Roland synths in the past, but now I do not own a Roland synth.  I am thinking of the Roland XM.  I do not like the mini keys as I will midi it with my Modx.  the XM seems nice.  I am not a programmer and usually buy voice libraries then edit them and save them.  any comments non the XM will be appreciated.

  2. just saw Leonid and Friends in ft. Lauderdale last night.  they blew me away. Grest.  tight band and the vocal harmonies were unbelievable.  I recommend anyone to see them if they come into your area.  you won't be dissappointed.

You really need to get over your fear of the "plastic" on many of these boards.    All of my gigging boards except the Nautilus have been or are "plastic."

Thru all my gigs and travels with them, I've had not one issue to to the construction.

My MODX, old MOFX, Komplete Kontrol S61, FA-08, Casio PX-5S, all plastic, no issues.   I've even dropped from carrying height my old FA-08.   Nothing broke.

I'm not going to lug around a Fantom 8 that;'s 30lbs heavier than my new Fantom-08

Wall wart?    Never an issue.    Besides, as a gigging musician, I have at least one extra for each board I own.  Sometimes a couple extra.  Roland Ps-5U.   Yamaha PS-150, and so forth.  I even have generic ones of the proper criteria should I want to externally power my Keylab or Komplete Kontrol.    I even have a spare Mac power supply

Just as I carry extra cables, a flashlight,  gaff tape, some basic tool, and Ibuprofen :)

As I've collected them over the years, I also have extra expression pedal and sustain pedals.

Being prepared has worked for me

totally agree with you about all your comments regarding power supplies and plastic construction.  it was very refreshing reading your post as I am tired of people whining.  I quit playing out a couple of years ago since I refuse to play at what the pay scale is now. the last 11 years of  playing out, I averaged 5-6 nights a week that included some air travel.  never had any problems with power supplies and plastic construction.  took care of my equipment and always had back-ups.  another gripe by everyone is keyboard touch.  I have adapted to every keyboard I owned.  you can't play a Hammond like a piano or synth.

  4. really need some good advice before I drop too much money.  wondering if purchasing an access virus ti2 is a smart decision for me.   I presently have a behringer poly d and deepmind 6, korg wavestate, minilogue xd, and modwave, novation peak, waldorf blofeld, hydrasynth, yamaha psr-s950 and modx6.  I also have several plug-ins like komplete 12, v-collection 7, and several others.  I don't need or would use a multi-timbral module as the virus is.  just doing recordings in my fl studio.  some originals and some rock and jazz type of recordings and some cinematic and atmospheric type of recordings.

I know that the virus is a very good synth with great reviews but is the virus unique sounding as compared to what I already have.  I spend many, many hours buying and editing sounds to my liking for all my synths, so I am always looking for different sounds that I have.

in addition, I heard that the help from contacting access directly is not that good at all.  also, I heard that repair of their products is not up to par which leads me not to buy a used virus ti.  the new ones I guess is the way to go but that price is high.  any help will be greatly appreciated

  5. I just had to put in my two cents.  I have plenty of digital and analog synths.  years ago I bought a Yamaha psr-s950.  I made some great clavs, strings, e-pianos, horn sections(really nice horns), percussion and drums are up to par with others, and the very best tenor sax on the market.  not even the kronos, any roland could even come near the tenor sax.  I have played a gig years ago and several musicians were looking and finally asked me where the sax was.  I know sound is an opinion but someone compare the tenor sax anywhere to the upper Yamaha psr series or the tyros or genos

Just bought a MODX7; getting older, needed a lighter setup than my NE5HP (down to 9 kg including the bag from 15 Kg). Also needed some more different kind of sound for one of the projets i am in. I'll get used to the keyboard .... 🙃

great keyboard.  lot of libraries you can buy for it.

  7. I have a 1962 hammond a-100 with an original leslie 122 in my music room.  my wife says it smells in there, from the age and hammond oil and I know since this is not the first hammond I owned.   get rid of the wife or the hammond.  just joking.

  8. I have bought a few casio W series just for the sax sounds. since then I have the yamaha psr series for the sax sounds. to me the most realistic sax out there comparing it to the workstations out there. namely Korg and kurtzweil. ooh I know I going to get some flak on this. I have a great sax sound for yamaha modx I downloaded from their site by their guru. I will be very interested in the new casio and the price.
  9. years ago I received one call from them. just recently I received a call from musicians friend. only bought from them once years ago. right now sweetwater is the only place I buy from. nobody but nobody can beat their price, well at least for me, and on top of it tech support and a two year warranty.
  10. I really don't need either one but I have the sickness of buying more synths. would like some opinions on the purchase of either one. I know I should be waiting for the behringer pro 800 but no information on when it will become available. any help here will be appreciated. so take 5 or the novation peak. I kind of think that the peak is a better buy. back in the day I always wanted the prophet 5 after my DX-7 but never got around to it. just my opinion that everyone still wants a sequential even if there are better options at a more reasonable price.
  11. I owned three B-3's. a BC, two C-3, an A-102 and an A-100 with a 122 leslie which I have right now. the weakest Hammond I owned was the B-3's. sounded weak, not ballsy. My BC was poor. one of my C-3s, was one of the best. the other C-3 was very poor. My present A-100 beats them all except for my A-102. my A-102 was the very best. My A-100 is solid, ballsy and screams, but not quite what my A-102 sounded like. I laugh when I hear, got to have a B-3. every Hammond sounds different. pick the one that sounds best to you. Larry......long time Hammond player from New York, to New Orleans, and now Florida. and I kick pedals, the way it was meant to be.
