  1. Sad to see this. We"ve lost a true genius. Chick could have lived many lifetimes without exhausting his creativity. Thank you for the inspiration Mr. Corea.
  2. Keep On Truckin' by Eddie Kendricks
  3. Polychrest, thanks for providing those 2 links. Reading those articles was heartwarming.
  4. This was great. I"d love to know what became of Keith"s HiWatt powered Leslies. What a treat it would be to see and hear those again. They were a big part of his early ELP signature sound although the side by side Goff 122s are crazy cool too and I suspect more dependable.
  5. I really like the looks of that suitcase model. The handle holes look like they would make it easier to get out of a flight case than the original Mojo,SK2,etc. I like the black and the C or A series looking body. Yes,it does look like an RMI with the lid on(worst ep I ever owned) but I imagine. that lid would give nice protection to knobs, keys and drawbars even inside a flight case.
  6. Happy birthday Joe. In the words of the immortal Bud Abbott 'May you live as long as you want and never want as long as you live.'
  7. I dream I"m playing almost every night. Very common is the 'It"s time to start, where is my gear?' as well as being onstage with a mix of band members spanning 45 years or more. That"s just a couple of playing dreams I have in common with those in this thread. Playing dreams are about 70% negative with the rest positive. One night my wife witnessed me reaching out to twiddle knobs with my left hand while playing lead lines with my right while lying in bed sound asleep. Having gigs and group musical activity in general turned off like a switch thanks to the pandemic has definitely screwed with my head although running, fighting, screaming, laughing,or just plain talking have always been common for me. Sometimes the missus thinks I"m crazier than a s**thouse rat. I must concur.
  8. Very sorry to see this. Mike was a huge influence on my earliest Hammond forays and remains so today. That first Rhinoceros album was great from start to finish in no small part due to Michael"s Hammond mastery. Apricot brandy remains an all time great rock instrumental. He had an enviable career. Godspeed Michael.
  9. That 740 looks to be in beautiful shape. It must really scream with the Peavey head. Congrats on a really nice acquisition.
  10. If the sim in the YC could sound like this vid I would have to have one.
  11. Richie absolutely nails it. Watched the whole video and I am in accord with everything he"s says here. Felt like he was reading my mind. It was actually comforting hearing him voice almost everything I"ve been feeling. Apparently misery really does love company. His statements about cultivating an appreciation for the little good things that happen each day and counting one"s blessings are very wise. Thanks for posting this Rob.
  12. Hey rogs, Thanks so much for posting how to use a momentary foot switch/sustain pedal to control Vent speed. I haven"t had great luck using latching metal button pedals which often would fail to switch speeds (about one in ten attempts would fail to change speeds). These switches were meant to be used with the Vent so I really don"t know what the problem was. Happened with both Vent 1 and 2 and a number of trs to trs cables. Half moon switches worked perfectly. I made a short adaptor cable using your wiring instructions and can now use any of my many sustain pedals to change speed. They work reliably and are easier to find with my foot than the button type. If I want stop I just push the stop button on the Vent. Funny thing is I think the manual only mentions using a momentary switch in a manner in which it has to be held down to maintain fast speed. Maybe I missed something? Whatever,I"m a happy guy. Thanks again.
  13. Thanks rogs for the quick and comprehensive reply. I was up to speed on everything you previously mentioned except for which Vent remote mode to use and wasn"t sure if the momentary switch had to be held down to maintain speed. I was possibly a bit thick headed on the latter. Now I have to find out if this will also work with the original Vent since I have both Vent I and II. Even if it only works on the V2 this is good stuff. Looking at the V1 manual gives me a little doubt. Again, thanks for the valuable information. Looks like I"ll be rewiring a couple of foot switches. BTW ,it appears the Korg PS3 foot switch is normally open if that"s of any value to anyone.
  14. Hi rogs. Do I understand correctly that wiring the trs on the Ventilator end will allow the use of a momentary sustain pedal to change speeds without having to keep your foot on the pedal? Also, can you tell me which remote mode you use on the Vent to allow this. The Vent ll will allow the use of a stock momentary switch but the switch must stay depressed to maintain fast speed. Thanks
  15. Same here. This quaint notion has no doubt cost me a few opportunities. I"m ok with that. We have to endure too much 'Enough about me. What do YOU think of me?' Blowhards everywhere.

  17. How do I eliminate the smiley face next to my screen name when I post? I don't mind the gray neutral looking face but when commenting on a fellow member's passing or other misfortune the last thing I want is the goofy smiley on my post. The changing mood option only gives the option of more dopey faces. The no icon option won't work. I've looked but no viable option has presented itself. Help.

  19. This really made me smile. This girl is a very fine drummer and is totally adorable. She radiates tons of positive energy. Her take on Good Times Bad Times is pretty smokin". She outclasses many 'adult professional' drummers I"ve encountered. Good on Dave Grohl for helping to bring her to our attention.
  20. Lots of chops. Drummer is a monster. This last one just made me feel uncomfortably nervous. Interesting nonetheless. It is said that art is supposed to provoke a feeling or reaction. Mission accomplished.
  21. Good suggestions from one and all here so far. Kind of mirrors a couple of situations I had to back away from myself. One was from a band of old friends I go back with to late 1969. All very talented but these days they feel compelled to share their politics quite freely and their world view is one I abhor. Heartbreaking. I greatly respect how you feel about the situation you have outlined. You should be proud of yourself for walking away from it.
  22. So sad. It"s hard to believe it"s been about 50 years since my piano teacher, the great John Mehegan, turned me on to Mr. Tyner. With innovators in seemingly short supply McCoy Tyner will be sorely missed. Let us celebrate the incredible music he gave us.
  23. Can't tell you if the setup files are compatible but as a longtime SK2 user like yourself who has looked into the SKX I have a few observations. You probably already know this stuff but here goes. It appears that the major differences between the two are the 2nd set of drawbars, the 11 pin leslie connector, and a slightly different front panel on the SKX. Supposedly the extra voices on the SKX have been tweaked to work better with the SKX keyboard although either SK's extra voices are often deemed mediocre. Do you use the 8pin cable on the SK2 to send audio and speed control to your Vent? I do and it works beautifully. I have yet to see an 11 pin version of the same made for the SKX although you or someone you know might be able to rig up something. It will be interesting to see if the 11 pin XK3C to Vent cable that was available for a little while will work with the SKX. My workaround for a second set of drawbars for the SK2 is a set of Ocean Beach drawbars left over from my Nord fanboy days. I had to reprogram them to work with the SK but they work great. As for the organ sounds, they seem identical. Personally,I'll probably just stick with the SK2. I hope this has provided a little food for thought. Sorry I couldn't answer your main question. Good luck with your decision.
