  1. @ DBM & Caevvan, I remember when the tune 1st came out and this guitar-geek when running to all my old guitar shops to see if anyone knew of any new pedal that could get that sound. Later in life watching the Eagles play it live with two guitars, it all started making sense. They can do it in just one take with no overdubs...check it out at 4:30: I'm still thinking harmonizer for a live solo act?

  2. Thanks for jumping on this Dave! It could also be a security issue with Caevan's computer automatic security upgrades? I have never had a real problem signing on but there have been times when this site is not responding now and then. My search bar has a "Not secure" warning site message on it ever since we changed to this newer Music Player Network. For security purposes, it may be worthwhile to have the webmaster look into how the site can be upgraded for it's web security settings. Thanks...

ps. We've got to get Caevan back on somehow! Sending him a shout out!

  3. +1 Scott, I have seen them and have had the neck off on one of my Strats and could see no real need to adjust the screw. The tech backed the screw out so the neck makes good contact and it sits flush. Perhaps Kuru can fill us in...
  4. I've got quite the harem of guitars and need to size down one of these days LoL! I have one sentimental Fender acoustic wall hanger that I bought back around '71. It's been rode hard and hangs on the wall in my music room. I'm about 50 miles east of Sacramento in the highway 50 Placerville area. My dad had a Stella that I was learning on when I was 12 or 13 and then my uncle saw I was interested in learning guitar on one of our Arizona trips, and gave me one of his Stellas. They all had 3+3 tuners and I was surprised to see the in-line 6 tuners in your link picture. Glad to hear you still have your original in the family and 3 generations have learned how to play on it! :thu:

  5. I too found a 3 pick up Kawai solid body in a pawn shop for $25 bucks back in '69...and my 1st guitar was also a Stella my uncle gave me back around '63. It was easy to play open chords on but hard to play as you went up the fretboard as the strings just got higher and higher LoL! +1 we didn't care if it was hard to play and were just glad to have a guitar. It's amazing how many of our forumites started out on a Stella. Sears should get an award for getting us started! :thu:
  6. Caevan, The combo tuner/capo is fairly new. They get good reviews but not all of the bugs have been worked out from some of the comments I have read on them. My buddy plays bottleneck slide style which is the reason for his many tunings. He lost all 3 of his irreplaceable guitars in a forest fire in Paradise California a couple of years ago. All he had time to pack was himself and his little dog. He came down to stay with my other buddy who loaned him his acoustic. I gave him a new snark tuner in the box and my capo LoL! Anyway if he ever decides to replace the one I gave him, I'll tell him to look into those Thalia capos with the Teflon fret pads...
  7. I don't use a capo too often, but I might more often now...

Wow! These are amazing! I can do the wildest bends that I'm capable of, and the strings slide and glide sideways to and fro beneath the capo's Teflon fretpad, returning to tuned-pitch just fine. And the Teflon fretpads actually yield a brighter, clearer, more open tone than the rubber fretpads, whether those on Thalia capos, or on others. How cool! A total Win-WIN for both my Les Paul AND the as-yet-to-be Television axe...

I'm not a capo user but I appreciate the recommendations and info. One thing I have noticed is now there are a lot of capos on the market with combined tuners. I think this is a great idea for capo users as string tuning should be checked each time the capo is moved up or down the fretboard IMHO. It's good to know that the Teflon pads improve the the "to and fro" string sliding. Many capo users do not hear the difference in string tuning when moving the capo and feel the tuning is good enough without checking it. I have a friend that uses at least 13 tunings on 3 different guitars when he plays out. He is one of the few I have ever seen check tuning each time he moves a capo which I think is a really great idea. He uses a clamp on tuner and knows the strings will move even when clamped by a stock capo. Now they make capos and tuners combined so tuning can be even more accurate at each capo location. Anyway, just a thought and thanks for the info! :thu:

  8. Dave, I found this YT demo on a Benson "combo" amp which gives a little better idea of the amps clean sound at @ 4:30 and talks about specs and the speaker selection option @ 2:00...Clean Tele single coils @ 7:00...

  9. Dave, +1 on Kuru's let us know what you think? Some of the other YT demos sound clean with a reverb and/or delay in front of the amp. Weight is about 25lbs on the cab and 16lbs on the amp head. So I like the piggy back concept if I have to pack 40lbs around. I would prefer to have an on-board reverb on any amp I look at. The YT demos take you inside the shop and it looks like the builder knows his stuff (all hand wired). I have never tried one and look forward to your in person review... :thu:
  10. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Kuru! We will be missing you and looking forward to your return to the forum! Maybe you could invest in a lap top? Anyway good luck with the foot operation and keep us posted when you can! Sincerely, Larryz :thu:
