  1. You just have to go with what sounds best to you DBM. A lot depends on your style of playing and what you have always been imagining as your sound. Sometimes the titles on modeling amp choices do not do justice to the originals. I would have to compare different patches as well. The 1st sound that would draw my attention on this latest list would be the 65 Deluxe. On my Fender Floor pedal which also used the Fuze software I got stuck on the Deluxe and never changed it. It was not quite a true comparison with the real amp. Then Fender came out with my 65 Deluxe Fender Tonemaster modeling lightweight SS amp with low to high tube wattage choices. I knew it was the amp for me. I'm glad you found your dream sound! :thu:
  2. DBM, glad to hear you are keeping the weight and the loudness of the amp and loud drummers in mind! If you can preview modeling amps on Fuze, check out a 65 Deluxe Reverb with spring reverb. You may have already tried it and like what you have but it would be fun to compare it with the Twin.
  3. I only watched the Buyer Beware bearded guys video and it was all I needed to see. +1 very hard to hear his voice but the guitar came through OK. He did a great demo and great job of showing the design flaws. The biggest one for me was all the strings coming off the saddles of the bridge when doing a dive bomb LoL! I didn't like the jack poking the belly on the back of the guitar either LoL! The nut cut was an unbelievable disaster...The guitar didn't sound that bad. If the bridge and the nut were changed along with the jack location before they poured another one, the Chinese manufacturer might be able to salvage their line of guitars.
  4. Skip, Their Live on Stage album was recorded back in 1974. A double album set with one song Vahevala taking up one whole side of a 33rpm. Not only were their arrangements great on all of their recorded albums, their improv in front of huge live audiences was just flat great. Their two guitar leads were inspirational for many bands to come. Not to mention the leads were all original as were the chords and lyrics to some great material that inspired a lot of singer songwriters. One of my favorite songs that sticks in my head is Danny's Song. It tells the story of my early married life and though the name is not mentioned in the tune, It inspired me to name my son Danny...
  5. Disclaimer, Jayhawk is referring to a great guy named Larry in San Diego...that's a different Larry than Larryz (not that I'm a real cranky curmudgeon LoL!)... but I read your post Jayhawk and glad to see you come back and post on the forum even though we have a low post count you will see we have millions of views! Don't worry about the spelling LoL! Without spell check, I would never attempt a post LoL!

On the Blues Driver, the Fat Glass and different guitars, there will always be variables to include amps, settings, etc. I thought the demos were well done and I'm glad they were not just posted as ads. As Caevan pointed out, we have had a lot of spammers and self-promoters on the forum over the years. We love having new members to up our low post numbers. Thanks for the review on the BD2 and the comeback! :thu:

  6. Skip, Let us not forget to add Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina to the list. A couple of great guitarists, song writers and singers all in one. Here's a 3 song sample of my favorite LIVE album. It's another of the greatest live albums ever recorded IMHO. A double album set and I love every song on it. Thanks for reminding me:

  7. +1 Hard Truth, I'm guilty of throwing in 4 or 5 acoustic players as I just couldn't pass them by LoL! I think a few other electric players like Brad Paisley, Joe Bonamassa, and Yngwye Malmsteen, etc., may have got passed by too. I'll bet if you named the top 500 electric lead players someone would come up with #501...Your list is a good one and might inspire some players out there to give any players they don't recognize a look-see on YouTube! :thu:
  8. +1 DBM, California drivers are just flat crazy and I'm embarrassed to admit I live here LoL! You have to watch them coming up behind and threading the needle more than you have to watch them up front these days. When I know I'm not going to get any sleep at night, I use that same keep your eyes closed trick. I learned that your body gets it's rest whether or not you go to sleep You just have to relax and not fight it. +1 Alaska is just too damned cold for this Amigo...
  9. My Jamming days are falling by the wayside DBM as I have can't remember sh*t (CRS) LoL! But maybe we'll get a chance to meet up one of these days. That little Honda Fit sounds like it can run at 80 and 90 all day long like the Roadrunner! Do be careful out there so Smokey doesn't get a radar gun on ya LoL! Glad you made it home safe... :thu:
  10. I' m glad Scott posted the demo so we got a chance to hear the pedal. If you close your eyes when listening to it, it's not a half bad version of a Bigsby. Can't wait for more demos by the many critics that will come on YouTube when the pedal hits the market...
  11. @ Kuru, the only reason I had mentioned your name was that you had commented on the OP's listing of Steve Hillage and Steve Tibbets saying he got 2 of the 4 Steves and he should add Steve Howe and Steve Moore and he'd have that one covered. I was thinking to myself what happened to Stevie Ray Vaughn and I'll throw in Steve Winwood and Steve Luthaker for kicks LoL! I also would like to include James Burton and Roy Clark and Roy Buchanan and Glen Campbell and Lyndsey Buckingham and Paul Simon and James Taylor (sneaking in a couple of acoustics) so they don't get left out. Like you, I agree with Surfer Girl that the list(s) should be updated and I really liked her Bonnie Raitt and Orianthi mentions. I too am getting old and don't even recognize the names of your 4 Steves all that well LoL! I don't listen music much either these days and you'll find most of my additions are from the old school. It's OK not to care for certain players. I have never cared for Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen and Tom Petty, but I recognize that they do have some special talent that others like...just a few of my tidbit comments being thrown in LoL! :thu:
  12.

Some good choices Larryz. Sorry, there is nothing original or unique about Stevie Ray, he is straight Texas blues plus a Hendrix parrot - same old same old. If David Bowie hadn't put him on China Girl and Let's Dance we might never know of him.

To each his own as I pointed out these lists are subjective. One man's pearls are another's garbage. SRV did write 18 songs and came out #12 of top 100 of his peers in the Rolling Stone link I posted. I fail to see how we can omit a 5 time Grammy winner. 1985 Best Traditional Blues Album, 1990, 1991 & 1993 Best Contemporary Blues Albums and 1993 Best Rock and Roll Instrumental. I'm not his biggest fan, but I truly admire his contributions and do like his music. There sure are a lot of SRV clones out there covering his tunes. Anyway, he has a sound all his own IMHO and will truly be missed. +1 there is definitely a Jimi connection...
