  1. I've used soft, wheeled cases for pretty heavy boards - an SKB for a CX-3 and the Nord case for a C1. They were both well made and very manageable for these boards... which I couldn't have maneuvered easily otherwise. (Back issues) Great on pavement but not much good on grass, gravel or cobblestone. Those boards are gone now. Now I use hard, wheeled SKB cases for 61, 73 and 76 keyboards, and really prefer them for the additional level of protection they offer over their soft counterparts. And their weight isn't too bad. Hope that helps...
  2. Like the others, I use the Nord soft bag for local gigs and rehearsals. For road travel it"s either in an older, large SKB, or more recently I just put the soft case inside a Pelican hard case. I do the same for my other boards- shuffling between soft and hard cases.
  3. I gigged for years with a couple of different JC-120's. Kind of heavy, but LOUD. The older, silver coned ones sounded better. EP's were glorious, synths good... organ sounds, less so.
  4. <> Indeed. And the blown out discs in my back remind me of all that schlepping...every day!
  5. I ordered parts from them for a K&M stand. Delivery estimate was 3 weeks. I waited almost 6 months. Enough said...
  6. +1 on the Rolls. I've been using one for years!
  7. The big one. (The little one doesn't go out in the rain. ) VERY nice ride, Joe. I had an 04. It was one of the best cars I ever had - and surely the most fun. And boy, could it carry a lot of gear - I gigged with it with a PA, two keyboard rig and four equipment cases. Still sorry I sold it!
  8. So my Continental 73 is in the shop. Less than a year after purchasing it, I'm having a problem with the scene and instrument select buttons. It appears each group of buttons is mounted on strips - which seem to have come loose inside, and each group wobbles back and forth. On a few occasions now I've had to push buttons twice for changes to register. So I took it in under warranty. Well... two weeks in and I'm told the shop hasn't heard yet "when and if" the parts will be available from Korg. Very disappointing to hear this so far into the production run. This was my bottom board of a two board rig, so I'm making do by pressing my old MOXF6 back into service in the interim. Have any other owners experienced similar issues with their boards?
  9. I used an SP76 in my rig for years. Now I use it at a practice space - controlling either an Ipad or modules. Always thought it had a decent feel ... and in its time, some adequate sounds. With a good case that"s not such a bad price.
  10. Another happy Organimation customer here. Use it on a MOXF. Great stuff
  11. And since the release of the MODX, you can get some really good deals on used MOXF"s. I used mine last night for the first time in a long time. I"d kind of forgotten that with the Chick Corea EP pack and Organimation B3 loaded in, it"s quite the killer little rig. Might work for you, too.
  12. Agreed that rehearsal should have been mentioned in an original conversation- so you could determine if the time and effort were going to be worth it. I do a couple of fill-ins each year with great local band. An established pay rate - regardless of the show. At least one rehearsal prior to the show is understood. Sometimes more - if there"s a lot of new material and I can swing it. ( They are great musicians and terrific guys - so rehearsals are always enjoyable for me. ) There is no additional compensation - I take the rehearsals into account as part of the deal when accepting a gig. And they provide studio recordings of any new material well in advance - which makes my life a lot easier.
  13. Saw the show last night at Bergen PAC in NJ. What a great time! He was insightful, funny and played great. Highlight for me was hearing him do the Six Wives stuff. Definitely recommended!
  14. Wondering if any forum members are in - or can can recommend - wedding bands in the Hartford, CT area...? A friend"s daughter is planning a Spring wedding and is looking at music options. Please message me. Thanks! (Apologies if this should be posted elsewhere...)
  15. I sub-mix my keyboards (2 or 3 depending on the gig) thru a Rolls MX28. Main outs go into Radial stereo DI to FOH. The stereo headphone out goes into a Rolls PM351 along with a house monitor mix - then to my Shure IEM's. This allows for a "more me" adjustment as needed. Works really well. The 351 velcros onto the top of the MX, which sits on the top left of my lower board. Very small footprint.
  16. He really tore it up with Ringo's All Starr Band at Woodstock last Friday night - sounded great. Played the big Santana hits, which Carlos' band did again on Saturday night. Very cool hearing those great songs live twice.
  17. Just upgraded my well loved Electro 4 73 to an Electro 6D 73. Actually was planning on just getting the 61, but found too good a deal on the 73 to pass up. A bit of a learning curve from the 4, with all the added features. (And frankly some seem less than user friendly...) But killer sounds and flexibility.
  18. Grab it ! I have also been using mine with a missing rubber foot and top cap... for the past 5 years.
  19. I once reached out to Aspen with an issue on a V3. It was late in the evening, yet he responded immediately and helped me troubleshoot. And even though I had purchased it from a retailer, he personally overnighted me a replacement so I'd have it in time for a gig. I remember that kindness whenever I use it. He was a class act and will indeed be missed. My sympathies to his loved ones...
  20. Fortunate to never have had an equipment heat issue. Although not being able to see the drawbar lights on an Electro in bright sunlight years ago helped convince me to get a set of OB drawbars. On the flip side, how about those pier, lake or riverside gigs - where your keys are covered with dew midway thru the evening? That"s always fun...
  21. AnotherScott, I'm looking for another octave, similar low weight and ability to copy over a lot of my sounds. Plus access to the synth that the Electro doesn't have. My MOXF6 is great for rehearsals, just too limiting for performance (sizewise) Thanks for the link.
  22. I've done my share of weddings and never had a problem. The newleyweds and families have been welcoming and wonderful. That said, if it didn't specify it in your contract, then frankly it's their problem if they don't like the color of your stock keyboard. (Now if you had a bunch of stickers on it, that would be another story...) Maybe it's me - I have no issue covering up the manufacturer's name on my board, if someone made that big a deal about the color of my keyboard I'd probably just pack up and leave... and let them do without keys. Life is way too short to deal with absurd, unnecessary drama. As they say, that's just my .02 cents.
  23. After a hot and tiring gig yesterday, I'm debating a purchase. I gig with my MOXF6 as my top board for synth, pads, etc. and my Nord on bottom for organ and piano. I would love a one board solution for those pain in the *** load ins (and near 100 degree days) and was wondering if it's time to add a MODX7 for my 70's/80's/90's gigs. To those who have moved up from the MOXF (particularly the 6) - is it really such a big improvement? I would load the Chick sounds from my expansion pack - and my Organimations (both bread and butter backups for the Nord) but other than gaining an octave, have folks found that the extras of the MODX7 merit the cash outlay? Thanks, in advance....
  24. I often run my rig through my Radial Pro D2 exactly as you described - and it works fine.
  25. I put a new battery in an older Iphone a few years ago and got another year and a half out of it before I upgraded. Apple quoted me about $90, so I just ordered a battery and the tool kit for about $20 on Amazon. There were lots of demo videos on YouTube. Quite easy - if you are moderately handy.
